When certain players score for England, the fans sing their name.
When Raheem Sterling scores for England, they sing Sweet Caroline.
Sterling did more for England in Euro 2020 than any England winger did for England in Euro 2024.
Facts he scored in the 1st the 3rd the second round he set up goals in 2 in the 2nd round and quarters and dived in the penalty area for them to be in the final. They made the World Cup semis in 2018 with him in attack.
They dropped him for 2022 went out in the round of 16 and they didn't pick him in 2024 the only scored 4 goals in 7 matches.
He is the teddy Sheringham of his time skilful creative under appreciated.

Get off your high horse, Simon. Why are the media making out as if White refused to go to war for his Country? He was questioned and undermined by Southgates assistant in front of his team mates, he's not going to get any game time because he has around 3 player's ahead of him, as much as footballers are very well paid, they spent a lot of time away from their families because of the amount of games and travel they do at their clubs, he saw a opportunity to spend some time with his family instead of sitting on the bench all the time. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Disagree. If U refuse to make yourself available for your country for any reason other then injury or family tragedy then U ruled yourself out. He's a player with a weak mentality and that's not useful in an international squad where U only have a short amount of time to pull a team together.

Now that they are gone and he's making himself available again, tells you it wasnt anything to do with not wanting to represent his Country. Jordan is completely wrong here. Ben White NEVER played for England except on 3 occasions, 2 caps earned in friendlies. Yet he's been in the England squad for years and years. He was first called up when he was a Brighton player.
So what was he doing in the England squad ? Making tea ??

I'm very happy White isn't in the England squad because he's fresh and always gives his best for Arsenal, who pay his wages every week let's not forget.

someone like TAA was always given a way harder time by southgate but he still understood that at the end of the day if you don’t turn up you can’t make a case for yourself. It’s not that he doesn’t want to play, it’s more that he doesn’t want to travel with the squad and not play. He has never hidden the fact that he doesn’t like football it’s just something he is incredibly lucky to be gifted at, his family are not interested in football either. He would rather be on holiday with his family than away with England sitting on the bench because Gareth would never play him over Walker, Trent and even Trippier. Good on him, putting his family first is a class act. I guarantee if he was nailed on to play he’d have gone and represented his country

How he can talk about how Sterling should be scoring the goals he did for Man City because playing for Man City one should score that many goals, while speaking in glowing terms about Jack Graelish who cannot achieve even half the number of goals is beyond me and racially biased by any standards. I respect Sterling for showing clear intent towards gaining a recall and love the positivity. Yes, there are many wingers ahead of him in the pecking order, but he is capable of going on a huge burst of form and giving himself the exposure needed.

The argument about Raheem Sterling is the same as it was for Andy Cole. You can talk up their numbers as much as you want but for those who watched them play, you can see how wasteful they are/were.

Simon is deluded - Sterling on top form is one of the few proven England internationals (He's done a lot more than Foden and Grealish at international tournaments and is younger than Kane). Ben White should also be brought in if he is playing well enough.
Sterling should go to palace as Oliseh replacement. Would be perfect fit. But I've seen stories haha is going back for round 3

He's a guy who trains the hardest, never gives up on the pitch, runs himself into the ground despite being an elegant player on the ball.
White has played many games hurt + injured, always makes himself available for the team.
Played a pivotal game during top 4 race his debut Arsenal season with a grade 3 hamstring accordimg to Rob Holding, he was clearly not 100% back end of that season.
Last season from start of the season till January Ben White was playing while carrying an injury.
Many players now often when they feel there not 100% rule themselves out or save themselves for the big game, so may miss a game or 2 before the big TV games.
White is old school plays every game, plays through pains + injuries.
White as a kid growing up was ill, spend years in & out of hospital.
He overcame all that, then at a young age at 15/16 got released by Southampton, which for many kids his age is a killer & where they fall off the path.
Yet he didn't let that setback hurt him.
He joined Brighton, never even got to play for them till his last season.
White had to learn at lower levels, he gone into dressing rooms from a range of levels from league 2, league 1, championship and then in his last season played in Premier league for Brighton.
Worked his way to become a £50m player at a big club like Arsenal.
He's had demanding coaches from Bielsa to Arteta, winning championship to competing for PL.
I'm sure many would be angry if after being away for many weeks, knowing you won't play after spending the previous Euro's not playing a second + barely making the bench, then that player who has accepted he likely won't play then is disrespected in front of the entire team by a coach who has an issue with him.
So thats the context White situation was in when Steve Holland asked Kyle Walker first a tactical question, then asks White the same question with White saying he didn't know which is the type of response White gives.
Steve Holland then brought up White not watching football & hats why he didn"t know, which was a personal attack and am uncalled for disrespect for a guy who is essentially wasting his time by being on the bench with 0 chance of playing.
This is like insulting the 3rd choice GK for no reason.
He's wasting a chunk of his summer break after a grueling season where he played hurt, doing pointless training + sitting on the bench watching football which is something he doesn't like to watch.

As a Arsenal fan, I feel Ben White is the weakest link in defence. If Ben was more aggressive and quicker in defence and better on the ball in moving forward with confidence, Ars could have won an EPL title in the last 2 seasons. As for England, the minimal standard for a right back is Kimmich of Bayern and Carvajal of Real Madrid. Ben is neither close to those. So for the sake of England wanting to bring football home, please stop the Ben White debate for England, granted England don't have good defenders. Walker and Trippier were never international quality and yet they have been in England team for ages, therefore England lost again and again in winning the big one. Go with the young ones for England, one can't do any worse.
