Had I never heard Dave talk about personal locator beacons we would’ve never found my mother after she got lost in the Gila wilderness of NM during our elk hunt. She had walked 10 miles the wrong direction and a blizzard hit that afternoon. We pushed the button because she didn’t have one on her. And the air force drone picked up our heat signature as a group, as well and her single signature miles away. They dispatched a sleeping sheriff and he took an old back road he never took. She had made herself a nest of debris to sleep under, and right before she fell asleep she heard the vehicle and saw faint headlights. So she ran as fast as she could and just before the sheriff drove past her she jumped and slapped the back tail light. He stopped, helped her in the truck, and I truly believe if it hadn’t been for Dave and God Himself she would’ve froze to death that night. It was 15 degrees and dropping fast. So thank you sir, for saving my mother’s life. You truly had a huge hand in that experience and you didn’t even have to be there. I spread the word about safety to everyone I meet and know that decide to go into the wild. Especially those that go alone.

I was on the original search for Mark and a scent was picked up by one of the dogs. That’s all I can say right now but the case is still open and details won’t be released unless and until further developments arise. As a former police officer Dave, I’m sure you get the picture. There was no malfeasance by the sheriff or the deputies. The searchers searched every probability thoroughly, including a water cadaver dog on Cow Creek in a raft. We all want Mark to be found. Closure for the family is one of the big reasons we do what we do. Another search was conducted after the backpack was found, in case his remains were nearby but nothing was found. The only other thing I’ll say is that people, especially women, disappear from Southern Oregon frequently, especially the Wolf Creek area near I-5, south of Riddle and the Bonanza area. It isn’t only women but it seems to be more women than men. Easier targets maybe.
@@angelwalker3260 Open Case. Certain details are kept from the public for a couple of reasons. First is verifiability. If someone makes claims about being involved in the case the detectives can eliminate false witnesses. You’d be surprised how many people would claim to have killed someone only to be found lying. People sometimes do it to gain fame or notoriety or to protect someone. The other reason should be fairly obvious.

That’s the main reason I wanted to tell him about it. It’s amazing how we as individuals can go through so much pain, but we may not ever see the good we do that saves the lives of others. Dave deserves to know the great shock wave of positivity he’s produced in so many human beings.
very well spoken! I'm a retired nurse who worked with cardiac and stroke patients. Hope is what drives so many people. I have seen what the loss of hope does to people. I wish more people would be more accepting of mental illness instead of laughing about it like it's a joke.
Mental illness is no less an illness than cancer or heart disease or a broken leg unlike these it doesn't show on the surface even though it's just as debilitating...
That last story kinda freaked me out. My brilliant 24 year old nephew just graduated from the University of Washington with his bachelor of science degree in marine biology and his name is...Matthew. Matthew is going to continue his education path in marine biology and I couldn't possibly be more proud. I hope my sister can tie him to the house some how and keep him safe!

And some weeks the best thing that happens to me is one or the other of the above. I appreciate your work. But more importantly I appreciate that you're a good person.
Good morning sir! Very good advice today for the mentally ill. I’m not ashamed to say I have issues and I’m medicated and thank God I have my own little family. Threw medication, God and family, I’m still here, always fighting the good fight. I would never hurt myself and leave my babies tho. Obviously the thought has popped in my head before, to me, it’s just the dam devil trying to convince me one way or the other. Always praying for you guys Dave, I’ve been threw hell as well, but none like yours. Bless you good sir and everyone around you. Extra pets to huck for me!!!
I agree with you about medication, I wish people would stop being scared of taking medication for mental illness, it can make life so much better and I see it as a gift from God ❤
@@brandongardner9829 I think that medication should be used as a last resort as well after exhausting therapy. A lot of the time, just having someone to talk to goes so far.

I’ve watched the latest missing 411 movie twice now and will be watching it again. Very content rich, it takes a while to digest and process all may be going on. The more people who see this and try to analyse what is going on the nearer we might get to an answer as to what is happening. BTW I live south of Manchester UK and have cycled along the canal pathways; the canals are narrow and shallow with no current at all. It is difficult to see how someone could drown in these canals (unless you were inadvertently intoxicated by GHB or something), you could stand up on the bottom and still have your head above the water level
I’ve never seen a channel that has so many commercials. Plus the 5 second countdown. I had to press to end our commercial more than 3 to 4 or five times to shut it down. You’re right there out for ya The price to be an angel of light.

I have know for 30yrs what 20min of sunlight a day does for ones health & spirit. I have SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder. I have known this since I was a teen. It happens at the same time of year (Winter) when people are exposed to the Sun less, when the days are shorter. I had a special light I could sit in for 20min a day and it helps.For me it really begins after Hanukkah & Christmas which I celebrate both bc I am Jewish and my ex-husband & I raised my kids primarily as Christians. There are times that SAD can start to take hold for a 2wks at a time in the Spring or Fall due to too many rainy days here in Middle Tennessee. My bff calls our Tennessee weather as Bipolar. This is a perfect description. For those who can’t go outside bc of a disability (I NOW am paralyzed below the waist myself from saving my boys in an F3 tornado 17yrs ago) those stuck indoors can go sit in a sunny window & get many of the same benefits as going outside w/ the exception of nature being left out of the equation.
Feeling guilty is the worst, especially when there is really no blame to be had. I know because I suffer from the same thing and it gives me debilitating anxiety. It’s like I’m stuck in place until I can will myself over it which isn’t easy. And most of the time I keep it inside which I know isn’t the best but sometimes I just have to because life goes on. But it will get better! Also I really like when you address Sobering Coincidence cases because I think they really grab the listener/ readers attention and help introduce people unfamiliar with your work to you in a little different way. Most people have been in a situation walking home after a few drinks in college or just out with friends and it’s intriguing to say the least.
The pain, it leaves scars, some seen, others only felt. I feel you brother lost my son last month. Mental health, addiction it's tragic on a level most will never know. Cry the tears Then dry your eyes Tomorrow brings a new sunrise What it brings We know not, Save Lessons learned And lessons taught

My father died suddenly, totally out of the blue ,anyway my wife noticed I was doing things ,fixing a lot of things and just doing a lot of things he did and when she told me I thought about it a lot ,yes he is very close to me I know it,like he's in me ,actually leaning much more ,I was made redundant 4 months ago and ended up working at the same place he did😊 ,trust me Ben is definitely with you 😊

Thanks for your comments. I know those depth of despair as tried to commit suicide when I was 17 long time ago I regret the worry I caused others my family. At the time you can’t and don’t think of others. For one minuet if your son could have thought what he was doing he would have. I was saved from My suicide attempt some think it’s selfish but believe me it’s never meant to hurt others. Thanks for all you do and so many lives you have Helped. I now have two sons two grandchildren I’m so lucky. It’s not parents fault ever. The thought of someone I love go missing fills me with dread thanks all you do 🏴🇬🇧
I have always believed that people or events happen for a reason. I learned about Missing 411 from Mr. Ballen and I watched two of your shows during the night and finally found your Channel. A lot of people don't have the support that you gave and what you said was meant to be heard. So many people don't understand. Also, I get what she said in her letter. DAVID, please interview Matthew Read about his ordeal on Huckleberry Mountain Trail, IF he's willing. It seems this first hand account of what went wrong, would be a great cautionary warning to others. I realize it may be embarrassing to him, but the lessons other people could learn would be invaluable. Just a thought. 😉

Not closed yet.... just spend some time with refugees from war zones and whatever you feel or think of your life, you will feel lucky to be where you are and who you are. Generally speaking, vision of hell is relative... yes it s challenging, yes it is pretty dark, but there are so much good actions everywhere that we don't hear about, probably on purpose, that keep me very optimistic. As someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I have struggled with suicidal thoughts since I was 13 yrs old. The compulsion to take your life can become overwhelming. I have a great therapist and friends/family. My belief in God and my support from wonderful people have managed to pull me out of many dark holes. Know this, when someone actually makes up their mind to kill themselves, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. It is no one's fault. The best way I can explain it is that your mind is actively trying to kill you. The gun shot to the head is a last ditch attempt to destroy the brain that is causing the despair. I pray we get a better grip on this horrible affliction.
I often wonder why im here. My closest people have passed away, my mom, brother, close friends, uncles, aunts have all passed away the last few years. I dont understand how soo much death could take place for all different reasons. I often wonder if the rapture took place. Now im alone, and keep praying to God to give me a sign of why im here. Why wasnt i taken as well? I dont have to worry about funds as ive received a significant inheritance, but it feels useless. The only way i ever enjoyed anything was by sharing good things with my loved ones. Even if i traveled or whatever id just wish my family was with me. So i sleep now more than anything, its the only way i get to see and talk to them. I will say one very amazing thing will keep me from ending my life early. I know theres an afterlife, because my mom came to say good bye after her sudden death. She simply woke me up one morning a few days after her death, and told me that she loves me, and my grandmother loves me, and she has to go now. She also visited my brother the same way. Hes also since passed away 2 years after her, but hes never visited me. I hope hes gone to heaven, he deserves it as hes always been such a kind & gentle soul, and he always was seeking God. I often pray for him that hes okay. But that experience made me know for sure that there absolutely is an afterlife. So that alone tells me that as bad as everything is, i must tough it out, and find out why im still alive, even though i really dont know my purpose right now.

Had I never heard Dave talk about personal locator beacons we would’ve never found my mother after she got lost in the Gila wilderness of NM during our elk hunt. She had walked 10 miles the wrong direction and a blizzard hit that afternoon. We pushed the button because she didn’t have one on her. And the air force drone picked up our heat signature as a group, as well and her single signature miles away. They dispatched a sleeping sheriff and he took an old back road he never took. She had made herself a nest of debris to sleep under, and right before she fell asleep she heard the vehicle and saw faint headlights. So she ran as fast as she could and just before the sheriff drove past her she jumped and slapped the back tail light. He stopped, helped her in the truck, and I truly believe if it hadn’t been for Dave and God Himself she would’ve froze to death that night. It was 15 degrees and dropping fast. So thank you sir, for saving my mother’s life. You truly had a huge hand in that experience and you didn’t even have to be there. I spread the word about safety to everyone I meet and know that decide to go into the wild. Especially those that go alone.

I was on the original search for Mark and a scent was picked up by one of the dogs. That’s all I can say right now but the case is still open and details won’t be released unless and until further developments arise. As a former police officer Dave, I’m sure you get the picture. There was no malfeasance by the sheriff or the deputies. The searchers searched every probability thoroughly, including a water cadaver dog on Cow Creek in a raft. We all want Mark to be found. Closure for the family is one of the big reasons we do what we do. Another search was conducted after the backpack was found, in case his remains were nearby but nothing was found. The only other thing I’ll say is that people, especially women, disappear from Southern Oregon frequently, especially the Wolf Creek area near I-5, south of Riddle and the Bonanza area. It isn’t only women but it seems to be more women than men. Easier targets maybe.
So where was the backpack found? How far away from where he went missing? Surely you can say that. What's the big secret in relaying that information?

@@angelwalker3260 Open Case. Certain details are kept from the public for a couple of reasons. First is verifiability. If someone makes claims about being involved in the case the detectives can eliminate false witnesses. You’d be surprised how many people would claim to have killed someone only to be found lying. People sometimes do it to gain fame or notoriety or to protect someone. The other reason should be fairly obvious.

That’s the main reason I wanted to tell him about it. It’s amazing how we as individuals can go through so much pain, but we may not ever see the good we do that saves the lives of others. Dave deserves to know the great shock wave of positivity he’s produced in so many human beings.

very well spoken! I'm a retired nurse who worked with cardiac and stroke patients. Hope is what drives so many people. I have seen what the loss of hope does to people. I wish more people would be more accepting of mental illness instead of laughing about it like it's a joke.
I have seen this happen to a few people in my life .its so sad.
Mental illness is no less an illness than cancer or heart disease or a broken leg unlike these it doesn't show on the surface even though it's just as debilitating...
That last story kinda freaked me out. My brilliant 24 year old nephew just graduated from the University of Washington with his bachelor of science degree in marine biology and his name is...Matthew. Matthew is going to continue his education path in marine biology and I couldn't possibly be more proud. I hope my sister can tie him to the house some how and keep him safe!

I’m not ashamed to say I have issues and I’m medicated and thank God I have my own little family.
Threw medication, God and family, I’m still here, always fighting the good fight. I would never hurt myself and leave my babies tho.
Obviously the thought has popped in my head before, to me, it’s just the dam devil trying to convince me one way or the other. Always praying for you guys Dave, I’ve been threw hell as well, but none like yours. Bless you good sir and everyone around you. Extra pets to huck for me!!!

@@brandongardner9829 I think that medication should be used as a last resort as well after exhausting therapy. A lot of the time, just having someone to talk to goes so far.

I’ve watched the latest missing 411 movie twice now and will be watching it again. Very content rich, it takes a while to digest and process all may be going on. The more people who see this and try to analyse what is going on the nearer we might get to an answer as to what is happening.
BTW I live south of Manchester UK and have cycled along the canal pathways; the canals are narrow and shallow with no current at all.
It is difficult to see how someone could drown in these canals (unless you were inadvertently intoxicated by GHB or something), you could stand up on the bottom and still have your head above the water level

I have know for 30yrs what 20min of sunlight a day does for ones health & spirit.
I have SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder. I have known this since I was a teen. It happens at the same time of year (Winter) when people are exposed to the Sun less, when the days are shorter. I had a special light I could sit in for 20min a day and it helps.For me it really begins after Hanukkah & Christmas which I celebrate both bc I am Jewish and my ex-husband & I raised my kids primarily as Christians.
There are times that SAD can start to take hold for a 2wks at a time in the Spring or Fall due to too many rainy days here in Middle Tennessee. My bff calls our Tennessee weather as Bipolar. This is a perfect description.
For those who can’t go outside bc of a disability (I NOW am paralyzed below the waist myself from saving my boys in an F3 tornado 17yrs ago) those stuck indoors can go sit in a sunny window & get many of the same benefits as going outside w/ the exception of nature being left out of the equation.
Feeling guilty is the worst, especially when there is really no blame to be had. I know because I suffer from the same thing and it gives me debilitating anxiety. It’s like I’m stuck in place until I can will myself over it which isn’t easy. And most of the time I keep it inside which I know isn’t the best but sometimes I just have to because life goes on. But it will get better! Also I really like when you address Sobering Coincidence cases because I think they really grab the listener/ readers attention and help introduce people unfamiliar with your work to you in a little different way. Most people have been in a situation walking home after a few drinks in college or just out with friends and it’s intriguing to say the least.
The pain, it leaves scars, some seen, others only felt. I feel you brother lost my son last month. Mental health, addiction it's tragic on a level most will never know.

Thanks for your comments. I know those depth of despair as tried to commit suicide when I was 17 long time ago I regret the worry I caused others my family. At the time you can’t and don’t think of others. For one minuet if your son could have thought what he was doing he would have. I was saved from My suicide attempt some think it’s selfish but believe me it’s never meant to hurt others. Thanks for all you do and so many lives you have Helped. I now have two sons two grandchildren I’m so lucky. It’s not parents fault ever. The thought of someone I love go missing fills me with dread thanks all you do 🏴🇬🇧

"Are we living in hell?" Not closed yet.... just spend some time with refugees from war zones and whatever you feel or think of your life, you will feel lucky to be where you are and who you are.
Generally speaking, vision of hell is relative... yes it s challenging, yes it is pretty dark, but there are so much good actions everywhere that we don't hear about, probably on purpose, that keep me very optimistic.

As someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I have struggled with suicidal thoughts since I was 13 yrs old. The compulsion to take your life can become overwhelming. I have a great therapist and friends/family. My belief in God and my support from wonderful people have managed to pull me out of many dark holes.
Know this, when someone actually makes up their mind to kill themselves, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. It is no one's fault. The best way I can explain it is that your mind is actively trying to kill you. The gun shot to the head is a last ditch attempt to destroy the brain that is causing the despair. I pray we get a better grip on this horrible affliction.
I often wonder why im here. My closest people have passed away, my mom, brother, close friends, uncles, aunts have all passed away the last few years.
I dont understand how soo much death could take place for all different reasons.
I often wonder if the rapture took place.
Now im alone, and keep praying to God to give me a sign of why im here.
Why wasnt i taken as well?
I dont have to worry about funds as ive received a significant inheritance, but it feels useless.
The only way i ever enjoyed anything was by sharing good things with my loved ones. Even if i traveled or whatever id just wish my family was with me.
So i sleep now more than anything, its the only way i get to see and talk to them.
I will say one very amazing thing will keep me from ending my life early.
I know theres an afterlife, because my mom came to say good bye after her sudden death.
She simply woke me up one morning a few days after her death, and told me that she loves me, and my grandmother loves me, and she has to go now.
She also visited my brother the same way. Hes also since passed away 2 years after her, but hes never visited me.
I hope hes gone to heaven, he deserves it as hes always been such a kind & gentle soul, and he always was seeking God.
I often pray for him that hes okay.
But that experience made me know for sure that there absolutely is an afterlife.
So that alone tells me that as bad as everything is, i must tough it out, and find out why im still alive, even though i really dont know my purpose right now.
