everything in this video is new for me, including the camera placements and settings. while the main POV angle is fine, i messed up the exposure setting by utilizing hemisphere exposure on the wrong lens of the gopro max. this led to blown out highlights, incorrect color balance and more. i have learned for next time and am excited to give it another go. thank you for the patience and understanding.
The more you go mountain biking the more you will learn!! I’ve noticed mounting on the chin of the helmet is a great angle for mountain biking!! So excited you’re mountain biking!! Can’t wait to see these videos
With your cinematic look and ability for videos, I could see you reaching the MTB community enormously!! I remember asking you a few months ago if you have done mountain biking or thought about a video and seeing this video just seemed like you were right in your element! Please keep riding!🔥 well done and great job!
aye shane thanks so much man. feels weird being so new to something but thats where the fun is. it was my first ever MTB video so hopefully they only improve from here. thanks for the encouragement brother.
Keep up the great work Lucas! You took something I didn't think I had any interest in - mountain biking - and made it seem approachable and fascinating. Now I think I want to try it out too. I think our local mountain here in NJ - Mountain Creek - has a good mountain biking setup. Great work trying something out you aren't as comfortable with and embracing it!
The one thing that downhill biking has over skiing is that you always have something to ride from your car in the parking lot to the lift. No walking in ski boots.
If your looking for more variety of trails in terms of number and skill, Deer Valley is a great place. They have a huge bike park with beginner trails all the way up to super extreme stuff. Plus, they have a warm up area to help you hone your skills.
I ski roughly 50 days a year and just got a bike. Been out to winter park twice and I’m hooked man. It’s such a blast and being on a lift in shorts and a t shirt is the shit.
Glad to see you try MTB. I wouldn't expect it to replace Paintball or Racing on your channel, but a great addition to your content. The mountains are so damn beautiful in the warmer months, great for the soul. I think you should give the forward looking helmet cam a bit more of a chance. Yeah, there's no subject in the shot, but the scenery is great. Love rhe side helmet shot too. Not sure if I've seen that one anywhere else before. Was afraid the camera was going to ping off sone trees or something.
thanks eric! the thing with MTB is that I can do it frequently, similar to skiing. paintball and racing just dont happen often enough and frankly, there just isnt the interest around those topics like i thought. im definitely stoked to keep trying some different camera angles though. the chest mount is so unoriginal haha
So cool to see a mountain bike vlog on your channel! I had no clue park city has lift serviced mtn biking! The chin mount is a great GoPro mount option for mtn biking. You should try out deer valley when you get more experienced, I went there a few weeks ago and had a blast!
Awesome content… man I am in the wring part if the country. Skiing in the winter and real mountain biking in the summers…. Love the area thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery
Looks like you had a blast keep riding, so also good to have a camelbak pack for your water. This way you don’t have to reach down for a water bottle just gets too steep lean back a little bit on towards the wheel back. We’ll keep you from going over the handlebars. Enjoy. Take a break. Enjoy the scenery out there.
Lucas I can see your confidence building on each run! Nice! Take some time in the parking lot to warm up next time.. get a couple good pedals in for speed, stand up off your seat and try to initiate a turn by ONLY leaning your bike.. Just let the handle bars do what feels natural. Do that a few times, serpentine or figure 8's and allow that fluid motion to build up. The bike should feel like its floating under you as you turn. The key here is to get you to lean the bike more on the trail. That will change the way your bike feels and eventually the mountianbike is going to feel VERY similar to what skiing feels like. Someone please back me up.
thanks so much dude. i read about that - leaning the bike and stuff. but i feel like i cant get the feel for it haha it feels like im just gonna wash out of the front tire
@@LucasCatania17okay that leads to the next point..you gotta be standing on your pedals if you are descending or riding something that requires any real action from you. Standing up with a more aggressive stance ( more forward, crouched athletic positioning, dropper post down) will allow you to be more centered. I could say that puts more pressure on the bars but thats really not the best way to think about it.. mountainbiking is all about being aggressive but also neutral enough to handle any unexpected things that can happen.. I see alot of new riders think thay if they want to tackle rough terrain they need to get way off the back of the bike and that's simply not how we approach it anymore. Let me find the correct Ben cathro video.. he says it best.
You’re doing everything I love. Skiing, racing and now biking. You’ll love the downhill riding the more your confidence grows. I predict you getting your own bike soon. Just keep being conservative with it.
Great job takin it easy... I've done tons of trail riding before, but just getting into downhill this season and I've had bruises and scrapes all over for about a month or so now..
Also, you can take your bike on the FREE public bus up to the Empire Lodge where you can hop on the Mid Mountain trail and have access to a number of trails back to Town. Free Shuttles!
Glad to see you wearing a proper downhill full face too and not one of those stupid light weight ones. This past Sunday there was a young guy who had a bad crash at DV and would have been way better off if he had a true Downhill helmet... I also see so many people riding with half shells up there it blows my mind.
Park City was the first "real resort" I ever rode after buying a $400 used Stumpjumper. I was terrified of every single feature and crashed at least 3 or 4 times but I was instantly hooked and never looked back!
My man, you are already "good" at mountain biking, lol! Suggestion: go up to Deer Valley and ride Holy Roller. You'll have the time of your MTB life. Holy Roller is wide and super flowy, long and fast. It'll solve that claustrophobic feel, promise!
i almost went to BRECK today... i just want to get out of the city.. i have been looking into bikes but i keep spending all my $$$ on skis;) my type of bike is the one that does most of the work for me.. i would probably get an Ebike with fat tires and a mid drive and probably a belt drive.. something that can go over sand and mud and snow.. not huge hills
so sick tho!! ty for the mtb video! i think the mtb and ski audience overlap quite a bit so I think this is will huge for your channel! everyone loves to see you having fun

Check out Skills with Phil and The Loam Ranger for MTB GoPro editing advice>>>
Also, the boom mount out in front is a sick POV
Lucas: I'm new to this so I'm gonna work my way up
Also Lucas: *absolutely bombs down the trails and doesn't fall once* haha that was fun
hahah dude idk about that. felt like bambi out there!

love it dude!

super glad to hear that! it has its similarities to skiing and such but also is vastly different. either way - its a fun way to enjoy the mountains!
Love it! Been waiting for u to post some MTB videos. Great job! Definitely wanna see more of this from you!
Great addition to the channel! Thanks Lucas
thanks for watching paul!
I love this man! I’m like you and don’t have as much experience mountain biking, so just be you, do what ur comfortable, that’s what we want!
thanks dude! appreciate that.
Yesssss MTB content finally. Just got into it in May great offseason workout to keep legs warm.
awesome dude! so much fun
Awesome man! So glad to see you out on a bike. It’s my favorite way to enjoy the mountains. Also loved the race car noises while shifting.😂
it was so awesome. stoked to do it more this summer. and haha yea dont really know where those came from
Boom angle on the helmet is dope, I think using a 360 cam that can edit out the boom would be even better
yeah i want to try that!
The great outdoors. Good stuff 🔥
hard to beat it!
So stoked that you're biking! Utah has amazing trails to explore. Just have fun and don't hurt yourself right before ski season😅
hah yeah thats the goal!
The one thing that downhill biking has over skiing is that you always have something to ride from your car in the parking lot to the lift. No walking in ski boots.
very true! there is a lot better movement overall with mtb haha
I love mountain biking! My main hobby. I came to the channel for the van content and this is great!
awesome man! glad you like it!

Loved the video Lucas! I’m also looking to get into mountain biking, looks amazing
That was gorgeous brother!

Mountain biking is the best man!
It’s too much fun!

youre so right man. being on the lift and stuff is the best part
So good to see you out at PC, wild how different things look without snow. Always love the videos and appreciate you spreading the summer stoke!
thanks james! yeah really cool to see the mountain in the summer time!

loved this one, Lucas!
I'm here for the skiing and live in SLC and you've convinced me to try mountain biking, looks so sick!
Thank you so much! I’m stoked you’re gonna give it a shot

thanks dude. downhill is definitely gnarly, but super exhilarating...

that sounds so sick!!
It’s gonna be so fun watching how fast you progress if you keep doing it lol! Enjoy!
Haha thanks Shawn! We will see 🙌🏽
Love the vid Lucas!

thanks dude. glad to hear that i have the proper equipment. would way rather overdress and be safe.
Should’ve told me that you’re going biking that I could be your guide. I know where some easier trails are at. Your form tho is on point!
ah thanks matt! gonna head up to deer valley today
Bro so sick. Stoked you’re giving something new a go. Enjoying the summer content.
Thanks man. Trying to step it up a little.
I think you can bring a lot to the TH-cam MTB scene! I can’t think of any creators with your filmmaking abilities!
thanks john! that was my first ever MTB video so hopefully they improve from here.
More please!! Also can you try a chin mount? I think that's the best pov mount MTB wise
For sure!! Gonna try chin mount next time
Great Job👊🏾
Thanks!

eggggggg-cellent
thanks my brother
I still have my Trek bike that came with my VW Jetta Trek edition back in 1997 haha.
Haha sick!!
fuckk yeah love to see you try something different!!
thank you dude!
Welcome to the cult that is mtb
oh geez...
So when are you riding down indicator on a bike?
Tomorrow
nice twist...next stop jup?
hahaha yeah right
Sometimes you just have to send it 😮
🙌🏽🙌🏽
i almost went to BRECK today... i just want to get out of the city.. i have been looking into bikes but i keep spending all my $$$ on skis;) my type of bike is the one that does most of the work for me.. i would probably get an Ebike with fat tires and a mid drive and probably a belt drive.. something that can go over sand and mud and snow.. not huge hills
btw.. they should call it Park (get out of the) City;)
that is one long run.. i just keep thinking about bears.. they would blend right in with that tall grass or those bushes..
i got dizzy with the helmet cam going forward
did you use Ski Trax to see your stats?
Nice Darin! Whatever gets you outside man 🙌🏽
7:31 what i always think whne biking at a resort
haha yeah crazy how much different it looks!
Pretend you are on ski's...LoL
hah i tried
Deer Valley > Park City
I tried DV yesterday and it was sick!
Hard disagree. The skidders at PC are miles better than anything DV has to offer.
JUST SEND IT, people spend so much time and money on gear for mtb, its worse than skiing, just send it haad
so sick tho!! ty for the mtb video! i think the mtb and ski audience overlap quite a bit so I think this is will huge for your channel! everyone loves to see you having fun
