    good reaction.
when rm had filters on himself it was because once on live someone commented to stop using that so rm said that’ im gonna do whatever i want’ stuff. you know, also when tae had glasses on him was because once someone told him to not wear it because it looked bad so yea they are saying that they have control on themselves and they’re gonna do whatever they want and no one can stop them. [This song is pretty much talking about how everyone is saying they're getting westernized and they're forgetting their roots. while in reality they're just being themselves. Thats why RM says in the beginning " I never gon' trade" because everyone thinks they're betraying Kpop and following into "American music" Bc of the collaborations that they're doing with the American artists. Then it continues when jimin say something about "why do keep babbling. I just do what I do . so mind your own business ". meaning you can keep on talking and saying stuff about us but we're just doing us and we're just loving ourself because we're staying true to ourselves and no one else. so y'all should just mind their own business. ]

You should go watch Idol explained by DKDKTV. They go into depth about Idol, Ddaeng, and several other songs and explain all the references and what everything mean.
Erseol (Ursoo) and Jota are both expressions used during traditional Korean dancing (which was the spinning jump move they did). Both words basically mean Awesome/Great/Let's Go. They're words that are used to "hype up" the performance or dance.

You know what I always do when a new vid comes out: I watch it without subtitles first so I can pay closer attention to the visuals. Then I play it again with subtitles so I know what's going on.
I LOVE this song, but it is a huge departure from them. It's a mix of African rhythms and traditional Korean... well, everything. The majority of the stuff going on in the background, the ACTUAL background (it's reminiscent of traditional Korean art), the outfits, some of the dance moves. It's really unique stuff. And the message of the song is awesome!
You guys should listen to the rest of the album -- there are 6 new songs (including 3 rap line solos) and REMIXES of stuff. A full length Mic Drop remix is on there that is FIRE, and just begs for dancing!
Anyway, this was fun guys, thanks!

  • @samuraihei7

the reason that some of lyrics are like a diss track is because in the korean entertainment industry, the word idol can have double connotation. Idols work super hard but there can be belief that they aren't being "real". For example, if an idol decides to act, even if they have acting experience, they are still viewed in a negative light because they are an idol. BTS are using the word Idol to show an more positive light. also dope reaction guys!

This was not a diss track particularly for one person but to the people saying things like, they are being westernized hence the korean and african influences and visuals or this doesent look good on you so you cant wear it hence V's glasses and RM usong the filters. This was just 2 of many messages in the video the they are trying to portray bit the most evident is how as kpop idols they are looked down on for only being popular for looks and they are treated like perfection, playing the role of the idol they have been made up to be and not themselves for who they are. That's why they say "there are tens and hundreds of me but all of them are me." I tried to explain even though my explanation is bad but anyways I hope it helped just a little bit.

This is not a diss-track. This is the "Answer" to the story they been showing since their "I Need U" MV. All of their mvs had a storyline that connected with one another. So, ARMYs made up their own theories about what message BTS are trying to tell their audience through their music videos. BTS's latest album Love Yourself "Answer" actually explains the summary of the message they were trying to get through and their answer is "love myself". IDOL shows that the members learned to just love themselves no matter what others say or what may happen in their lives. After all the hardships they have gone through, they finally realized that to solve their problems is to love themselves first.

"Ursoo" is an expression Koreans say basically when the beat is so good(it's usually used with traditional music so it's their way of proving they're 100% Korean and not westernized as haters have said)

I just love how they put RM, Jin and Suga in the center because people kept telling them they can‘t dance so they proved em wrong

Its basically them saying that they don't care what anyone calls them anymore cause they love themselves and that anyone giving them hate arent worth their time.

If you like the dancing, watch their dance practices. It’s where you get to see the full dance outside of the MV, and they also have dance practices for songs that don’t have MV’s

I think the lyrics was for what happened to them before, as RM being mock by other rappers that calling them not a hip hop artist, and when they come up at the stage the undergorund kpop rappers said they were look like a girls, " no hip hop wearing a make up.

So i posted before you voiced your reactions and would say your extremely honest with you reactions, everybody has their own favourites I love Dope, Spring Day and the Truth Untold, but this MV I would put top for me because instead of making me want to sing or cry to the song this one makes me want to dance (something I dont do anymore (basically my knees are no good so dancing is in my past) but i was bopping along in my computer chair. Think the other reason is because it was so different to what everyone was expecting from the teaser.

7:46 The dance Ous is talking about is a South African dance called the Gwara Gwara, people don't perform the dance lot anymore but it was a popular dance in 2016-2017 or 18 before Amapiano became popular and people started creating new dances. People listened to a lot of Gqom (a music genre that became popular also in 2016-17 or 18 in South Africa) back then so the dance usually goes with that but it can go to any type of music when performed correctly

The choreography in this video was to celebrate culture in South Africa and South Korea.
The whistle was to celebrate a korean drill culture.
And the silky, draped clothing is called Hanbok.
