I’ve watched this series quite a few times and each time I learn something different about the GTA world. Why not include the HD version of Liberty City though? Would be great to see the updated views/theories along with the newer looking city. Just a thought.
Liberty City is such a fascinating place. The gloomy and depressing atmosphere as well as the criminal chaos running amok says a lot about the "worst place in America" tagline and it's what makes GTA 3 so special.
I've always wanted GTA 3 on PS4 for the small improvement but sucks they removed it from store but looking at PS2 using it's original cables and not component cables this changed my mind making it even more dark atmosphere with the lowest 480i quality
This version of liberty city has always been my favorite over all gta maps. I think nostalgia plays a big role. I just replayed it again and finished it. Even tho Portland island is literally a no go zone. I spend a majority of my roaming around there
Same here. I live in NYC, so I'm definitely biased. Even with 4 being a more accurate version of most of 4 of the 5 boroughs that's excellent (Staten Island wasn't used), I have a bigger admiration for 3.
Agreed. Still love 4 but as a kid my grandma lived in NYC and Portland always felt just like it except in a much worse neighborhood lol. Portland in particular might be my favorite single segment of any gta map
The football stadium is probably based on the Wein Stadium in Inwood, Manhattan. It's owned by Columbia University. Their team, the Columbia Lions play there. It's north of Columbia Presbyterian just like in this game
Seen as your considerably huge work on GTA séries I imagine a GTA IV version of this ... This would be amazing but probably really long to achieve I guess, for now I can only hope that it will be someday 😉
As for real world inspirations, there are some cityskape similarities to Portland Oregon. Hawthorne Bridge and City of Portland Reservoir number 5 and overall view from Mount Tabor across the river is somehow similar to GTA 3 view from Cochrane Dam. Also Wells fargo center building in Portland resemble one of the buildings on Staunton Island if you view it from Shoreside Vale.
A lot of the inner city from 4 and 5 both essentially updated/upgraded what inspired the same areas from 3 and SA. In 5 it’s a lot more noticeable I think because SA is just such a beloved map, but there’s A LOT of old school liberty inside the HD universe. Imo, the whole 3D characters can’t exist with HD characters is totally fake, bogus, and lazy. In red dead redemption 1 online which came out over a decade ago, they made completely updated HD models of all of the characters from PS2’s OG Red Dead Revolver with new voice acting and they all sounded and looked phenomenal
Mind you red dead revolver is visually less appealing than GTA 3 imo so if they can update those crap models then what kind of excuse are they trying to make

El Burro's porn was also sold in the Red Light District as Claude drops off magazines there. You see white men with trench coats, hats and sunglasses lined up at the end of that mission
I didn't realize that the 4th game was San Andreas because I keep forgetting about that mission. You put effort into these videos that few other people could. How did you find out the street names?

Ayoo lol I’m from Baltimore, and I NEVER knew that the red light district in the game was supposed to be based on the Block. Makes hella sense tho if you been down there at all cuz it damn near look like it. Only difference Is on the Block it’s several strip clubs instead of just the one, and a few janky but tasty food spots. That’s cool as hell tho

Perfect atmosphere given the setting and a certain event that happened in 2001, just 1 month before this game released.

No the 4th game is the appearance of LC in San Andreas. And only some street names are known, like East Monroe Avenue.
