You can't beat the folks in the camping world..my family camped from the late 60s into the late 70s. I went camping again in 2019 and felt like I never left..
I grew up in Beverly Hills and would see Ernie from time to time. He always seemed like such a nice man. This video shows that he was most definitely a very special human being. Thanks for posting!
Mr Borgnine is a part of Hollywood history and a rarity among actors: He's a real person who never forgot who he was like so many others in Hollywood. Especially nowadays. RIP Ernie!
Always loved every film Mr Borgnine was a part off he by all accounts a really nice guy sadly missed R.I.P from a scot who has never been to the US Maybe some day.XXXX
Ernie was a great down to earth when ever we went out he wanted to drive and he was in his 80’s , that was him very humble and nice to everyone. RIP 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪
You're right. Ernest seemed like just a regular guy, despite his fame. And for him to cruise around America on a nice RV bus just reaffirms what a regular guy he was. Like the saying goes, they don't make em like this anymore, unfortunately. Closest experience among today's stars is Matthew McCaugnahay (spelling?), who used to live in a RV, while he was famous. Always thought that was pretty cool.
Those old hollywood guys felt that they owed their society some grace, having received so much. I heard that Clark Gable had his name in the phone book and no one called him and got rude. We could all use that kind of respect and grace.
Oh please! Hollywood has always been filled with drama. sex, booze, drugs, affairs, back stabbing, racism, sexism and conceit. Ernie seems jolly and also very unhealthy. He sounds like a smoker. Very labored breathing. Tragic and depressing.
Gosh even though he was very famous he still never forgot that he was still a person and always signed autographs for people also he was not afraid to go out in public and have a good time. I really wish I was fortunate to have met him and just hang out with him at a camp ground. Those who did better realize what a privalage that was, because he was a great American and all around people person.
Ernie Borgnine: one of America's greatest celebrity treasures! There has never been anyone else like him! He will be missed, but remembered with deep, heartfelt love for the remarkable man that he was! An honest-to-goodness human being!
Oh man, I could have listened to EB's stories about Hollywood and the Navy for hours. What a full and eventful life this fine man had. May he rest easy wherever he is out there.
I met him once when I was a medical courier picking up from doctors offices in Tarzana. Probably around 1986? He was coming out of a Drs. office in a medical bldg and I was walking towards him, he was holding his arm like he had blood taken and was throwing punches, so I said to him hey buddy ya wanna go a few rounds? When he looked up and said yeah let's go, in a gravely voice I recognized him immediately. I said oh shit ernest borgnine! I asked for his autograph and said I was a fan for years. Great guy was really funny and genuine
Still awesome to see him after all these years. I still remember watching the McCales Navy with him and Tim Conway now that was some real fun shows to see and I wouldn't miss any of them lol. Those are some great memories
No big deal a Hollywood legend rolls into your campground in the middle of Iowa , Oscar winner worked with Bette Davis , Kirk Douglas , Humphrey bogart just to name a few.
He was so down to earth such a nice man took the time to take photos with all the campers. I remember watching his movies on TV growing up. RIP Ernest .
He really seemed to love people and much how his presence and autograph meant to those he met. And, without doubt, he enjoyed the attention as he should have. He earned it.
How cool is this? Ernest wanted to mingle with the people, signed autographs, and took pics with everyone. What a class act and a true man of the people.
I would’ve loved to sit around a campfire and listen to Ernie tell stories. What a classy guy and stars of today could learn a lot from these videos on how to conduct themselves in public.
i met him in alaska when he was on vacation at the bird cage or bird nest bar the bar was slanted from the earthquake yrs ago we took a picture together what a great guy
What a GREAT guy! I just started watching these. No ego and always signs autographs for fans. Some of these young arrogant stars should take note! RIP Ernest Borgnine.
I've always had much respect for Borgnine because as a celebrity, he never acted like he was better than anyone else. Such a common man that treated his fans as equals. He came from humble means and never forgot who made him famous.
I Had the pleasure of meeting him once I was at a Movie Premier he was staring in a few years back in GR Michigan that was filmed up in Travers city Mich. The lights came on and low and behold there he was sitting a few seats away from me he got up and talked for a short wile and Thanked everyone for coming out to see the Movie and signed autographs. He signed my Movie ticket I had ..So I took it home and got it laminated so it will never rub off or fade it's the size of a Book marker .And it's One of a Kind …!...Thanks Mr. Borgnine and Rest In Peace ….
Man I forgot about this show. We need a lot more people like Ernest because this place has gotten lost and the new generation is just not into the whole traveling thing and teaching everyone about our great country and how to have a good time with your family and friends . it's really sad.
Reminded me of my dad. So sad he's gone. Glad he got to see the RV life in style. I hope he and my dad meet up there. What a great time they would have trading stories.
What a great yet humble man he was !. Taking all the time he did there with his fans. RIP Ernie Borgnine, a true star and gentleman !. His son cris does him great credit.🧐🏴
What a wonderful Human being & a wonderful soul he had!..... rest in peace with the heavenly father Journey you were a wonderful wonderful actor and a great person. And I know that you are a God-fearing man God bless we miss you! They don't make actors like him anymore. A forgotten past I'm afraid!
I love that he ain't got any airs n graces, down to earth, has time for folk showing em his bus. Sooo different to most actors who think they're royalty and take themselves so seriously....acting is just a job, ffs, very well paid n great lifestyle, nothing compared to cops, military, fire service, paramedics, doctors, nurses, who actually save lives.
What a lovely man, knowing he could give so much to people just by being friendly and natural with them, caring enough to give them all an unforgettable interaction.
Ernie was on Iwo Jima and was a boat operator that brought our Marines ashore, and the wounded back. True war hero!
Lee Marvin served in the US Marine corps in WWII in the Pacific Campaign and is buried in Arlington Cemetery with just a simple head stone
A true legend. Kinda reminds me of my pop & brother that went to war.
Ermes Borgnino is in a class of actors that are running extinct. A man and actor of his calibre will never be again. RIP Ernest.
Exactly....
He felt at home among the folks in rural America, He was a quality man and will be missed.

Old Hollywood is gone.
I was in the area then. I wish I had known. This is a true depiction of Iowa and it’s people. Ernie was one of ... us.
Ernie was a great down to earth when ever we went out he wanted to drive and he was in his 80’s , that was him very humble and nice to everyone. RIP 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪
This was filmed in 1995, when Ernest was 78.
He represents the best of America
I agree! He really does, still!
There was a time when Hollywood stars were loved and respected like the likes of Ernest Borgnine

What a gracious guy. People in Hollywood could learn some things from a guy like Ernest Borgnine. Hope your sailing your land yacht in the sky.
I think of my grandfather who has long since passed. Boy, I sure miss Ernie’s booming voice and lovable personality.
A very long time ago, most actors and actresses were just like Ernest. Thanks for all the great memories.
Ernest always resembles my dad alot very nice and kind hearted human being not many like them anymore God bless you !
My Dad was often mistaken for him. He took it as a great compliment
He must have had endless patience to have so much attention all the time.

What a lovely fella he was.... a true gentleman... most celebrities tend to fob off fans after a long day, but not Ernie...great vid, thanks.

Parked right across from the pop-up camper lol
I’ve watched these clips over and over and it’s because they don’t make men like Ernest Borgnine any longer. He is genuine and authentic. RIP Sir.

Love to visit America because of little things like this. The scenery, the cars, everything about it.
How cool is this? Ernest wanted to mingle with the people, signed autographs, and took pics with everyone. What a class act and a true man of the people.
He seem to always had time for people, and show all respect.
What a treat for them both, a father and son road trip like this is priceless ❤👍
Great presence....he got an Oscar early on, and I'm happy he did!
That was fun to watch. Made me smile big time> What a nice man he was

When I was a kid back in the late 1960's, I used to see Ernie at the local Sav-On Drugs in Studio City, CA. Super nice guy!
