I just installed the baseline towers with the Jetstream rails. The issue I had was the measurements for width were way too wide. It said 47.25 but that put it in the groove on the roof. I had to shorten them to 46.5 and they were still too wide but I couldn't go narrower. The clips barely fit in the door jamb as it was. I could have used another half-inch narrower but it will do. Overall, I'm very impressed with the engineering that goes into these products. Having all the nuts being one size and the tool packed with the product is a big help. Very impressed also with the torque tightening till it clicks feature. No more wondering if you got it tight enough. To the guy complaining about the price of the locks, I'd say this. You're not paying for metal, you're paying for smart engineers who design this stuff to be easy to install and reliable. As a wise old-timer once told me, oats that have been run through the horse once are a little cheaper!
Thanks for the video, but the Fitment page on the website is not allowing me to submit the request for my vehicle. 🤷🏻♂️ Also… great video, but the music could have been excluded or lower volume. 😊
The crossbars and towers are awesome but yakima are charging way to much for the sks locks that are probably made in china and cost 25 cents each but charge $20 a lock. 4 locks should be included with the towers.
Hi Thomas, Appreciate your feedback, but a correction on the source and cost of locks. Lock cores are made in Belgium, the retail cost for an individual core is $12.50, not $20. A 4 pack of locks sells for $60 and includes 3 keys which are $4.50 retail , so for a 4 pack of locks the all in cost per lock is $15.00, not $20.00 The reason we don't include them is that customers who already have locks are not getting additional ones that they might not need or may not match their existing ones. And new customers who may have purchased multiple items that need locks can by a pack or locks that are keyed alike to cover all over items at one time.
@@YakimaRacksOfficial Oh I understand, I was just pointing point that the phone says P2 is B on the phone in your video, but you wrote down 1. Also T1 is 1 on the phone, and you wrote down B. Just according the phone that is brought up at 1:13, you wrote it down wrong in the book, which might confuse people. The P measurements are supposed to be letters, and the T measurements are supposed to be numbers, but you have them mixed up. I have it all figured out on my end, I was just letting you know.
They say specifically in the video to use front pads for front bar and back pads for back bar, but neither in the video nor the manual do they display/show the difference. Can I get some help? I have the solid pads and the gridded pads with gaps.
My base clips don’t catch on the latch inside the tower. All four are problematic, so I think I’m just doing something wrong. But it doesn’t look like it can be adjusted to fit. There just isn’t enough metal sticking through to hook onto the clip.
It will be similar to the install in this video! Go to Yakima.com and enter you vehicle info to make sure you get the correct BaseClips for your vehicle!
Hi Jack! Make sure the clip holder (silver metal part that holds clip) is loosened almost all the way down. Then lift it up to allow the clip to come off. If this isn’t helpful, reach out to our CS team with photos of your clips in the towers and they can walk through it!
Hi, I just bought these as roundbars and am setting them up for my vehicle. I am supposed to use "A" for P1. How do I know which direction is A and which direction is C? Obviously B is the middle, but relatively, I cant find a way to discern A or C? Could you please let me know if A is the bolt appearing at the top of the slot or at the bottom of the slot?
Oh, I see a chart in a section of the instructions not meant for the roundbars. The roundbars mention the P1 angles, but in the written step it just says use "B". Am I able to just use B for all pitches because the bars are round anyway?
also, there is an error with the print on the stickers included with the towers in that they cannot both be placed on the inside of the towers such that the nose of the car on the sticker faces the nose of the car in real life. It is like a pair of shoes that has a design that is meant to face to inside of the wearer's ankle. They are supposed to be mirrors of eachother. You have essentially given 2 'left shoes' for the stickers. In order to have the sticker facing the correct ways, I must put a sticker on the inside of my left towers and on the outside of the right towers.
You need to set it according to the specific instructions laid out per each vehicle. It's ok your installation sheet that comes with the system. He can't tell you how to set them because they are specific to different vehicles.
This video is excellent! No wasted time, but answered all my questions. So glad I watched this first as it saved lots of time.
Music gave me a headache. So loud and annoying

I know you just posted a day ago but are you happy with the sturdiness? Looking to get some of these as our car doesn’t have rails
Solid instructions, but the bed music is *insanely* annoying.
It's really distracting and annoying
Do these mess up your door seals and paint?
I had a bar that would clip over the seals crushing them and leaving you wet on a rainy day.

Music was very loud
My P1 is not clicking. No one else seems to have this issue. I torque it down so much that the tool bends and twists from it but there is no “click”
Did you ever solve this problem? I'm tightening way down and worried im gonna break something but still no click.
Do the towers always fall outside of the black strips that run front to back along the roof of the car?
Do the clips have padding to protect the paint of the vehicle?
They do, it's not super thick but seems decent quality wise
This is so good!
Hi. Does the appropriate bar seat come with the specific bars I purchased?

@Yakima Racks The P2 and T1 are written down wrong according to the phone at 1:13
The measurements are specific to the vehicle the rack is being installed on yours maybe different than what is in the video

ah, got it. I'll let our Marketing team know
Do you need these adapters for the corebar?
They say specifically in the video to use front pads for front bar and back pads for back bar, but neither in the video nor the manual do they display/show the difference. Can I get some help? I have the solid pads and the gridded pads with gaps.
Has anyone tried to mount a thule cross bar to these?
How do you remove the tower pads once installed?

Has anyone used this for a Toyota Matrix? The only other roof rack system I have seen seems like it would not be effective for loading a canoe.
These are unsafe. The rubber split and the clips won't stay closed, leaving the rack unsecured. I don't feel safe transporting a load using these.
I have a 2020 infiniti q50...will there be any problems installing this rack?

How do I change baseclips. I cannot get it out or figure it out.

What is the actual torque measurement that torque wrench is using? I have an adjustable torque wrench and I’d like to know where to set it
3.5 N-m or 31 in lbs
anybody’s towers not lining up with the base clip?
I’m not getting the clicking sound when I use the tool on the base clips. It is tightening but I’m concerned about over tightening. Any advice?
@@happydogg312 went to the comments to see if it was just me 🤣 noticing it twisting and got concerned clicked soon after

can i put skyrise hd (rooftop tent) on it?
I asked Yakima the same thing, and these said no due to its low weight limit of 165lbs.
Thanks!
These are terrible instructions. Definitely need more details. How do you set P1 for example? You can't just say to make sure it's set.
You need to set it according to the specific instructions laid out per each vehicle. It's ok your installation sheet that comes with the system. He can't tell you how to set them because they are specific to different vehicles.
Pretty good when paired with the instruction booklet it comes with. I’ll put the SUP dawg on in the morning. Pretty quick installation time wise.
Sweet!
The measurement points are unclear. Idk where he is measuring from one tower to the next smh
Thanks I wish I watched this before I put mine on instead of during.
Kill the music, this isn't a marketeting video. And it makes it more difficult to hear the instructions.
Lose the music on this video. Horrible and nothing to do with the content.
