Since I do not have #5 cotton, I plan on doubling 2 strands of #4 of my existing stash. I enjoy working this cross stitch , so making some of these will be great short projects. Thank you Glenda.
Ooh, this is the kind of project I love! A more economical option for the yarn is to use 2 or 3 strands of regular cotton yarn held tog. as one. I do this all the time. Scrap yarn could even be used. Most of us want to use up what we already have.
Hi Glenda, I'm new here coming in from NJ. I love how ur talking thru ur videos. I been crocheting off n on for about a yr or so. It's great therapy for me since my stroke. It keeps my mind constantly thinking n my hands busy so they stay moving. Also great for those like me that have ptsd depression n anxiety. I love how personal u great with each of us. I usually watch Bag o day too learn things n now I can watch u as well. Stay sweet n safe always. Can't wait to watch more of ur videos 💜
Hi Glenda…..These potholders are pretty & thick which I like. I love the stitch pattern too. Definitely will be making some of this pattern next time I’m making potholders or hot pads! Thank you again for a great stitch pattern. Hope you have had a great weekend!! 😊🧶🦋💜
Hi Glenda. Thanks for this potholder tutorial. I love the stitch pattern & definitely need to make new potholders for my kitchen. I just viewed the entire tutorial & will return again for review once I get some cushy cotton. Thanks for the tips on batting in the middle for extra heat protection. ❤️
Thank you Glenda! An excellent and useful tutorial. I need a few of these, lol! I recently was going through my cotton yarns and found 5 balls of Soho Cotton Chic. Its considered a 4 weight but its an extremely thin #4! In fact it calls for a 4.5mm hook. Consequently I had not used it. So I tried using 2 strands together and its working up quite nicely. Its a good quality yarn, but being so fine, I just didnt like working with it. This worked perfectly! I appreciate being able to use it!!!
I don't have bulky yarn, so I used 2 strands of cotton yarn to make mine. They look GREAT ❣️ I also learned a new stitch; the Single Crochet Cross Stitch 😀 Thank You for sharing ❣️ Using the same concept for the SCCS can I do the same thing for Double Crochet Stitches? Or Half Double Crochet Stitches? If you haven't already, maybe you should make a tutorial on how to make cross stitches. They are Lovely 😍 Again thank you for your tutorial ❣️ Love my new Potholders ❣️🥰
I don't have bulky weight cotton but I lie the stitch you used so I'm going to use my #4 cotton and maybe put some insulate fabric between the two layers
Hi Glenda - thanks for sharing this video on the potholders. So pretty colors too! Do you ever put any type of heat resistant material in between the layers so it doesn't melt or catch fire? I've made potholders the ole school way using those square pegged looms - but I don't think the nylon loops were good as they could melt! But they are fun to make and easy even for kids! I was going to try and sew them together and put some type of grid on the back so it isn't slippery and use it for a small rug - just a thought! Thanks again for the info - Happy New Year! :-)
Hi, there’s no need to worry about melting like the loom potholders do. They’re made of nylon or acrylic which are basically plastic. Cotton yarn won’t melt. They can also be used in a microwave, but not for long periods of heating. Hope this helps.😊
I had signed up earlier in the year. I think I got three boxes (1 each month)and had to stop it for a while. I can attest to the fact that each box is value for money. They send the threads and patterns and whatever is needed, eg if it’s a bag, they send strap and closures etc. You also get crochet needles with every box! I loved it but because I already have so much yarn, and other projects, I had to halt for a while. I hope to start up again, but I recommend if you have time.
If you use that bulky yarn would that pattern be too thick to use one square as a dishcloth or washcloth, or should I use regular weight cotton? Great tutorial.
Good Morning Glenda🤗 The pot holder is awesome, I don’t remember ever seeing that weight yarn. I would love to make one but don’t have access to that weight yarn.
You will need 2 balls of the Herrschners Village Yarn Cushy Cotton for each potholder in the color Chambray or the color of your choice. To purchase the yarn for this project click here: www.herrschners.com/village-yarn-cushy-cotton-yarn/
You can try it but it might be to thick, if you use 2 (4) weight you might only need to make one piece and then just put the border on it if it is thick enough

@@cperm1 Thank you - I appreciate the info - it definitely helps! :-)
You can put a double layer of cotton batting between the pieces or the insulating batting they sell which is heat resistant.

Hi Glenda how are you doing today I am doing fine today your pot holder is very nice ❤❤
Nice tutorial Glenda
Awesome ! Thx Glenda ❤

Hello Glenda, happy holidays

I think it might be to thick.

Thank n you. I will be making these! ❤
Woow love it ❤
Thank you so much! You ate awesomr.
L❤VE it.
Can you use this stitch with other 100% cotton yarn to make this same type of pot holder?
yes if you use a 4 weight you may have to increase your starting chain multiple of 2 plus 1 example 2 x 10 = 22 plus 1 = 23
Thank you ❤
Is it a count of 6 stitches +1? I cannot get the 5 yarn so will have to adjust for 4 yarn. Lovely pattern.
Multiple of 2 plus 1
Thanks
Good morning. I don’t have any heavy weight cotton..maybe hold 2 of the 4 weight together….?
You can try it but it might be to thick, if you use 2 (4) weight you might only need to make one piece and then just put the border on it if it is thick enough
Thank You!!
Hi Glenda I love watching your videos could you tell me what blankets I could make for charity
Is there any other brand that sells #5 100% cotton yarn? I’m just thinking about other color options and I can only find cotton blended.
This is the only brand I know of at this time
❤❤🙏
❤
I don't have a number 5 cotton yarn. I might just double up a number 4.
💜💜💜🙏🏻
I see washcloth
Glenda how much yarn
She said in the beginning of the video and in the pinned comment. 2 skeins per pot holder.
