    Russell sees a man who is screwing him over. Santos sees a man who is doing what he believes is right. Santos was 100% the right choice for the next president.

    • @UnklePeanut

      Arnold Vinnick was the right choice, only reason why we he lost is because the writers wrote his character too good (or maybe Alda played Vinnick too good) and they (the writers) manufactured a near nuclear meltdown to give Santos the opening.

      @@UnklePeanutactually, the scene where Josh looks at Leo's picture on election night and says "thanks boss" is real. Until Spencer died, the plan was to put Vinnick in the Whitehouse.

    • @geotherapy
      @geotherapy 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@UnklePeanut They wrote Santos winning after John Spencer (the actor who played Leo McGarry) died. They felt that having Leo die and Santos lose would be too big a double-whammy, so they gave Santos the win. Vinnick was written specifically to be the moderate Republican who won the White House. That was the original intent.

    Many, many years ago my parents were to attend a public event and my brothers and I were allowed to attend as well. We were a rambunctious bunch and my Father knew it. He sat us down just before we left the house and explained that if we weren't on our very best behavior, used our best manners, or embarrassed him or our Mother in any way the consequences would be grim, and he meant it. I got the same feeling from this scene.

      @@RJNoe I wouldn't go that far. They needed to replace Sam (Rob Lowe) with someone very different and he was. I liked what they did with him up to his being Russell's campaign manager. I get that this was a career move to gain a bigger profile in the party (and he did, he eventually was elected to Congress), but they did not do a good job creating a background for that. Because Russell was an empty suit and Will was too smart to offer so much loyalty to an empty suit.

    With Bartlet's decree to the two... he shook Santos' hand first in the brief press-op, and then privately called for a non-attacking campaign by the two.- That seems honorable, but is quite biased, it would significantly favor Santos, the underdog at the time, by disarming Bingo-Bob's power over the Santos campaign. So, Bartlet isn't "keeping his own in check", he's sabotaging the Russell campaign... the VP he didn't want, and definitely the President he doesn't want.

    One thing I don't like about this series, despite its overall greatness, is the damn darkness everywhere. This is just ludicrous. The West Wing is very brightly lit with white walls everywhere. They probably figured if they lit the scenes more accurately the series would look like it's taking place in a hospital. 😡😡😡😡😡

    This was so far out of character for Will Bailey. He entered the show running a hopeless campaign in a GOP favored district because he felt his candidate was a good man and the right one for the job. Then as of S6 he's a party schill, cowardly backing the most sure-thing candidate and not even considering the value of Santos.
