The camping sounds are a feast for the senses. The rain, your burger sizzling on the stove, the saw and the chopping of the wood. The cracking open a cold beer. Sounds like heaven.

ya the rain was nice for a change. I don't always get a chance to camp in the rain.
Being in the desert (Phoenix, Arizona, USA), I sometimes plan camping trips specifically during rain storms, just to enjoy them lol. Nifty little lantern/stove... something easy to carry in nice weather where you don't need it as a heat source, just for some illumination and quick cooking. If a tree falls in the forest, you definitely heard it! The force of nature sure is an attention getter! I'm done with chores at home, got a short and long trip planned coming up soon. I've a lot of Cabelas gear. Lots of hunting, boating and camping stuff. I've had some of it 20+years.
I bought a -15°F prima loft sleeping bag for the truck incase I get stranded. It's fantastic! Rarely have to zip it.

Another excellent video from 'JG Wilderness Productions.' You captured the mood of the falling rain, lantern and fire light perfectly. On a side note, to keep costs down would it be cheaper to lay another tarp over the old one, perhaps a bit thicker and let the first layer take the friction from the wood beams?...just a thought. Keep those cameras rolling Josh!

Split foam pool noodles or foam pipe insulation makes a great pad for your beams and rafter to prevent wear holes in your tarps

My favorite part of bread is the crusts (ends). Best part of bread. Lightly toasted though on both sides makes the best burger IMO. EDIT: Just wondering, do you crush your eggs after you crack and put them into the pan. I do. My Nana's both of them said you had to crush them so that Witch's could not use them for evil spells / potions. I am 42 I still crush them up before putting them in the compost.
I never heard of that story before. Very interesting. Some time I break them some times not.

I lived in Alberta for a bit. I remember having to drive to the mountains or near slave Lake to get into the woods. It's open out your way
@JoshuaGammon I have a provincial park near me thats a good get away but can't build stuff in a park. The mountains are about 3 hours from me so....not so bad.

Kerosene works Herb. But what every works in a normal lantern should work here. Have a good one

You spent all that time building a decent cabin and left the roof. Spend some time and effort on building a decent roof
The way the wall are I didn't want to have a lot of weight on the roof. Logs are not water proof anyways so just a light tarp was the middle ground to achieve both my goals
A heavy duty tarp, not those flimsy things nailed to the supports of the “roof” and then covered with spruce/fir/cedar boughs would be the best idea for a not so strong “roof” structure. Tent staking a roof system is not a good idea.
It’s a great little place in the woods though!! Cozy.
