First, before turning it on, check the diode D183 (this diode is between the input and output voltage of the 7805). Turn it on and immediately put your finger on IC10 and IC11(both DRAM chips), if they get hot, replace them. Touch them immediately after powering on, if they're dead, they can go really hot and burn your finger so do that immediately after powering it on. And that pretty much covers it, if D183 is intact, the Gate Array is probably fine. Other than that, not much that can fail and everything else is pretty much off the shelf ICs. Check D183 first, then DRAM if everything is fine, the console should be fine.

Don’t think so, that would have most likely fried a lot more than 2 ram chips....Simon has another one which has definitely has been fried - the ASIC chip is popcorned and the RAM is fried...
