He definitely messed up with that lancer sacrifice in the north, and I think he could have been more aggressive with his landwehr and center. However his square formations and his micro throughout was mostly on point. 23:39 was brutal--I don't know if he intended for that volley before the melee, but if it was intentional it was beautifully done and spaced.
Nathaniel Dance He probably should’ve distracted the player with a Landwehr charge then moved his cav down behind the units for a flanking attack, or a rear attack while his main force moved forward and caught them when they least expected it. Rather than just trying to charge into a large number of French.

Hey pixi. I have been thinking about a lot of people wanting more third age, i understand that it can gwt dull after all the years and that the replays are so frustrating when they crash. I was just thinking that maybe you should just do a campaign. I know they always start off really popular, and end up dulling out, however i think if you kept it to like 1 upload every week or every other week you wouldnt see the drop in views that you would sending them out every other day. Just some food for the thought. Either way you keep doing you man. Been watching for years and dont plan on going anywhere.
@@PixelatedApollo1 i understand its hard to keep up with them, i think itd be a good compromise. As i know a ton of people enjoy third age. And also that campaigns are fun and exciting but also tend to die out. So i think it could be a best of both worlds. Especially from a profit standpoint as anything third age related will bring more views. Glad you replied my dude
Apollo, been watching your videos for a couple years now and just wanted to say thanks for these man, you do an awesome job and I can’t help but laugh at some of the stuff you say 😂 thanks again Apollo
I just started really getting into learning about Napoleon other than watching Bill & Ted's excellent adventure. Curious to see some real time battles. I remembered you. 😎👍
I play Total War: Napoleon I was playing against a friend. We had our units on ultra. I chose to go on the defensive and hold my ground. Holding my right flank was 3 units of National Guard. Little did I know my friend got wise and launched his most elite infantry units against me. When I finally noticed I had just enough time to bring up my light dragoons and dismount. With 3 units of National Guard and 1 units of light dragoons. My boys held and I was able to hold the flank. Not 1 unit retreated.
Waterloo(1970) one of the best war movies if not the best war movie so awesome and the fact that they were real ppl not just CGI and you can see the fear in their eyes...
Yes Apollo, Jäger should technically have better range than the French skirmishes as the Jäger were armed with rifles similar to those of the British green jackets and so could out range the French. I believe Napoleon himself disdained the use of rifles in his armies because of the slower reload time and also because often the French tactics involved getting as close as possible for a musket volley and then charging into melee and thus the increase in range and accuracy didn’t appeal to his battle doctrine.
I got this game yesterday and I was like I can’t even run 40 soldiers in each unit then I played the battle of Waterloo and realized I can run 160 with some lag
Those Swiss foot are literally getting shot into tomato sauce haha:))get it cause Swiss foot have red uniforms and their getting shot from the front and the rear
Damn I didn't know my favourite Total War TH-camr turned into Jesus... Damn mate you've got the looks that hat suits you pretty well! Please more of such great videos and have a nice one much luv
What a great game. I soooo want an empire 2, timeline lik 1700-1850.... with modern graphics, AI, unit pathfinding, and general traits etc. And the warhammer total war regiments of renown system could be used for named units like the Royal Scots Greys or the Towarcyz. But the unit pathfinding is just SOOO bad, that needs love the most. I just love that terrain was so important in napoleon and empire, more so than any other TW game, warhammer/rome 2 just attached some arbitrary stat bonuses to swamp and trees, but in these games you had to constantly check your lines of fire and establish defilade/enfilade.
I know the movie you talked about. Yeah great. By the way according to Osprey Publishing's (really check them out if you don't know them) book about French soldiers of Napoleonic Wars, their troops often were trained on the go.
At 20.34 you screamed "for the Kaiser!" To stop the Prussian Lancers from breaking. Thats Historical incorrect!!!!! At this Time, Prussia was a Kingdom ruled by King = König Friedrich-Wilhelm III. In 1879, the former Prussian King Friedrich-Wilhelm IV. was declared as Emperor = Kaiser Wilhelm I. France really misplayed his left flank if he just committed the young guard he would've kept the artillery and routed the weaker Prussian units. And his skirmishers being outranged should've made him either push up or fall back. Prussia did great but could've ended it sooner by pushing up more.
That French player was slow, indecisive, he stood no match! Maybe he was a newbie? Also, that mix of Prussian Fusiliers and Jager wrecked havoc on the French frontline! It was painful to watch!
"Nooooooooot!!!!" I did it for ya 😂🤙 Dope movie. "Does Wellington have anything else to offer besides these Amazons???" 😂😂😂 Yo, keep up the sick videos man. The developers should make a reboot, like recode the game better and add just a little more to the single player campaign. Like Empire: Total War. Longue vie à l'empereur 🇫🇷🇺🇸💚
Fun fact: The movie was filmed in The Soviet Union (Ukraine IIRC), and all the regular soldiers you see in the film are actually Red Army soldiers. All of them are real, too, so every one person you see in the huge battle scenes is actually a real actor! Perhaps to be expected in 1970 but still mind-boggling. They went as far as to accurately reconstruct some of the locations (buildings etc.) of the battle for the film in Ukraine.
Here is an exploit that i have been using to beat legendary matches. Note that you must be the defending side or atleast be able to bait your enemies. Just expand your unit to maximum and position them to a inverted spearhead. With this, 2 units expanded to 2 rows could utilize all their firepower and slap the enemy like a wing. Remember to put atleast 2 units to cover your rear and hidden cavalry to finish the job.
"The whole army shall advance!"
"In which direction, your grace?"
"Why straight ahead to be sure!"

Such a good quote. I find myself saying it often for one reason or another
That Prussian player was very smooth, he didn't put a foot wrong.

woah, static french defenses being outmaneuvered by mobile Germans? That's something new.

Mark Ellison plus it’s a memorable quote, just like I’ll be back, I didn’t look that up you ignorant fuck

Chewy's just a troll - it makes him happy to think he's pissed people off so no comment needed :)

Excellent video and tactics. As Old Fritz himself said: "He who defends everything defends nothing".
Hell yea, Prussia. They made war-making an intellectual pursuit. "Artillery adds dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl." Frederick the Great
Yeah, getting your face ripped off by shrapnel is very dignified.
Love your stuff Apollo, I just got done watching one of your siege videos, Beautiful use of the byzantine archers 👍
''all quiet on the western front,'' love his reference
I would just like to say I personally like it better when you have no face cam. It kind of breaks immersion. But that is just my stance
I love Napoleon Total War and Empire (despite it's many faults). This period of history is absolutely fascinating to me.
French player actually had a great defensive position at the start which reflects credit on the skill of the prussian player.

Voltigeur Captain: "Troops, initiate disappearance!"
"You wanna be old guard? Then you should probably run then..."
😂
That's a good tactic. Run close up to the enemy when they are just coming back from their routing and shot them then charging
That thumbnail reminded me of the Battle of Austerlitz scene from the 2002 Napoleon Miniseries.
Finally another napoleon total war vid! love your videos man!
Dramatic strategy and quick decision making from the Prussian player! Very impressive for the quick manipulation of force.
how do you only have 621K subscribers when your channel is so good! your channel is so cool and i enjoy your videos, and btw you have epic hat
