I got a Galloway stainless steel striker guide. To install, i had to first remove the extractor pins and spring first. I then lowered the striker spring and guide with a very small flathead screwdriver and put a 3/32 punch tip between the top of the round guide tip, and the back of the back plate. Even after using the punch tip, to retract the spring, and guide, I could not remove the back plate with my thumb. I had to wack the back plate at an angle with a plastic hammer, to loosen the back plate. I kept doing this for a half hour. I had just about ready to give up, when I saw the plate move downward slightly. Then it came off, without too much problem. I removed the plastic guide with the new stainless steel one. I then inserted the extractor, with its two pins and spring. After getting the guide and extractor pin depressed, the back plate snapped back on easily. Your video helped a lot. Thanks.😊
Thank you! This helped me disassemble my Kahr, so I could install the Techna-Clip clip. I've don't this before on another Kahr, but it went easy. This one took some serious persuasion, but looking your example, I at least knew I was on the right track.
Can you replace the striker guide rod, just removing the slide back plate, dropping the stainless striker guide in, and putting the back plate back on?
Still relevant, even now. I did that with my CW9. In addition, I smoothed out the striker and extractor channels because the manufacturing process tends to leave tiny metal flashing that result in gritty and squeaky triggers. No, Kahr pistols are not so easy to strip down. I only have 15 hands, but you need 16. For those who think reduced-power springs compromise the gun and cause light primer strikes, please remember the power is only reduced by 1 pound which helps smooth the strike, not make it fall short.
Well done. I finally taken the slide apart after hours of struggling. With your help. I have said a hundred times I'm going to sale my Kahr , because of the slide. And buy a glock. Glad I didn't.Best vid on TH-cam. I'm happy about the trigger, but going to buy your spring kit just because of this vid. Thank you.
Have this system in and shot about 200 rounds with no light primer strikes. I have noticed less recoil from this swap also. Model is a CM9. Thanks Galloway!
You come across that from time to time. I take one of my straight picks and flatten the sides some to fit the hole to push in the extractor rod and spring.
Perform this operation inside of a 5 gallon plastic bucket lined with a white sheet. Should any springs inadvertently escape they'll be contained in the bucket. And wear safety glasses.
Your site does not list or say. Would your striker guide and spring kits work for a K9 model? Also looks like you've got a lot of amazing upgrades for the niche list of items, can or would you expand for other models / full size pistols?
Should work in the K9 since almost all Kahr slides share the same parts. We're working on a +1 extension for Kahr mags in 9 and 40 as we speak and have some other things in the pipeline for development.
How about the Kahr CM45? Do you carry these same parts to work in a CM45? If so, then I would purchase them. But all I see on your website is for the 9mm and the ,40, not any of the .45 models.
We don't have any 45 Kahr pistols so we've not had the chance to try them in one. However with the exception of the 380 Kahrs all the slides share the same parts.
From my research you are right. With the exception of the 380, they are the same. So I went ahead and ordered last night the new S.S. striker guide and spring from you. Looing forward to installing them now when they arrive.
Do you offer a package deal if you send in the slide for an upgrade. I have a PM9 and P380 that I may want to change out the springs. Do you recommend anything for light primer strikes.
It is the same procedure for all Kahr slides. The reason to change the parts is two fold. The springs will drop the pull weight, and the striker guide smoothes out things as well as you don't have to worry about it breaking the way the stock plastic one does.
Are you going to make a spring kit for the Kahr 380's? I just got a cT380 that I love but the trigger feels heavier than most Kahrs I have dry fired in stores. Kind of bums me out! Would be nice to have a striker spring for them also.
Just wanted to update on my ct380. I ordered the spring kit and installed it and it was a huge difference! The original springs produced an uneven and gritty pull. Plus iT was making weird "springy" noises! Now the pull is totally smooth and a touch lighter and noise free to boot! Made a massive difference!
This video is utterly hilarious! "Kahrs are easy to take apart!" LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Funny man -- you need to go to comedy clubs with this routine! More Realistic: "This looks like a job for Superman!" is more like it! ... And those non-captive springs -- well they just fall back into place all by themselves!
Good video well explained in detail. I have 1 that the rounds are bad about flat nosing the ramp. I bought another clip it will do same thing. Would tightening the spring in the clip hep? It’s nice pocket gun but don’t really trust it doing that. So no warning shot with this 1 not 100% next round will chamber.
Make sure that the magazine spring isn't backwards, that can cause it. There's no real way to tighten the spring, but you may want to load the mag and leave it for about a week to see if it breaks in the mag spring some.
I can't remember the name of the company...but somebody makes an aftermarket follower for the Khar magazines. They change the feed angle and make this problem disappear. It's most troublesome with the 7 round mags. They are also made out of aluminum.

We're glad you have it installed and you found the video helpful.
Fantastic
Thanks. Glad you found it helpful.
You should tell us what performance improvement each of the new springs will provide? Why change them?
Drops the pull weight by 1 to 2lbs depending on the tolerances of your particular pistol.
Thank you! This helped me disassemble my Kahr, so I could install the Techna-Clip clip. I've don't this before on another Kahr, but it went easy. This one took some serious persuasion, but looking your example, I at least knew I was on the right track.

Yes you can.
I installed the trigger spring and SS guide on my CM 9, and couldn't be happier.
Striker guide fits my K40 no problems 👍
Wow...very refreshing to watch a firearm video on TH-cam where someone actually know what the fuck they are taking about...well done
Agreed great video

Great video my man, helped a ton
so what does the striker guide for the kahr like make it not have james or stoves?

Thanks Galloway!
On Kahr premium models, like the P9, is the factory striker guide, metal or plastic?
As far as we know it is plastic. Best to check with Kahr to be sure.
Would this be the same for the kahr p380?
The Striker Guide itself is different between the 9 and 380, but the installation is the same on both. We do carry both versions of the Striker Guide.
@@GallowayPrecision thanks. I see your website now. Im gonna order one for the p380
Order mine arrived in 2 days awesome
Can't get back plate off
Are the trigger springs the same across the whole Kahr line? CW 380 work in the CT380?
Yes.
Have you considered designing a new trigger bar geometry to shorten the pull stroke? Similar to the LC9 setup?
quick question sir, I cannot remove the back plate from the cw9's that I have. there is ZERO gap to get anything in to pry a little. any ideas?
You come across that from time to time. I take one of my straight picks and flatten the sides some to fit the hole to push in the extractor rod and spring.
Actually, i meant from the top. It wont come off. Its brand new so i will put some rds through it and see if it helps. If not, I'll be back! 😂
I use a very small flat head screwdriver for that.

does galloway have the ability to install these parts for someone who doesn't want to take this job on
We do, email me at tech@gallowayprecision.com for the full details.

Thankyou very much for the quick reply. I will give it some thought. Maybe a set for the .40 will work in the .45. Thankyou again.

Can the striker guide be replaced without having to replace the striker spring and blocker spring?
Or, do they need to be replaced as a set?
You can replace just the striker guide.
GallowayPrecision Thanks
Kahr makes great little handguns, they made the striker guide rod out of plastic instead of steel. There must be a reason.
Kahr sell the metal one on their site..
Do you offer a package deal if you send in the slide for an upgrade. I have a PM9 and P380 that I may want to change out the springs. Do you recommend anything for light primer strikes.

Light primer strikes at all after the spring swap?
Do they make this kit for the CW 45?
The springs will work in a CW45, not the striker guide.
Nice video! Your phone went off during the video and i thought someone was trying to reach me on my codex.
SNNAAAKKKEEEEE!!!!!!!
GallowayPrecision Yes! I have that on my phone and two guys and one girl knew what it was. Again, good video, i can't wait to order some parts.
Just got it installed. Thanks again.
I went to your website and there is nothing for the CM45. Anything coming out for this model anytime soon?
The standard CM parts on the website will work.

will this kit work with kahr ct9
Haven't tried it in a CT9, however most of the slide parts in the Kahrs are interchangeable and it should work without issue.
Scott,I just ordered all the parts for my CT9 we will soon find out
Hi, Thanks you for taking the time to post the video. What are the advantages to swapping out the springs? does it lighten the trigger?
Frank V yes it lightens it by about a pound.
Thank You for the reply.

Been trying for an hour to get the back plate off the slide. No luck. Won't even appear to wiggle. No movement at all.
If you would like you can send the slide in and we can install the springs for you. Email me at tech@gallowayprecision.com.
Will these parts work for the CW45?
Yes.
Thanx bunches.
