What an honor to hear Ashton speak about his drumming, and his intention as an engaging drummer, singing drummer, songwriting drummer, and overall artist, here to sustain his craft for decades. his humility as a 10+ year, world reknown professional is unmatched. from day one, everyone around him knew he had something special. his energy serves to unite, which is so damn rare. Congratulations Ash. You absolutely deserve this moment 💙
I love the way Ashton articulates his approach to playing with metaphors and examples that really hit the nail on the head. He speaks in a language that is very easy for other musicians to understand, for example “playing the air in the room”, which is a relatable thing as a drummer, seeing how your kit reverberates through a certain space and then exploring that dynamic through your playing. This was a great episode! Ashton is the man!
A wordsmith of sorts
I'm more into metal but I like his approach to song writing and what the drums are doing for the song. The band knows their audience and keep their influences in their heart and how he drums just amplifies those things without having to be overdone, showy or exaggerated or even mismatched. He seems very humble. I'm not into this band but Youngblood is an awesome song and cool music video for sure.
I've always written off 5 Seconds of Summer as a band my wife will listen to when she's feeling teenage nostalgia. Seeing a Drumeo video with the drummer of this band perplexed me at first. But man, huge respect to Ashton, what a cool dude and a great drummer. Super good stuff! I'll encourage my wife to listen to more of 5SOS from now on!

I love hearing Ashton talk about his drumming. As someone who unfortunately isn't very musically gifted, I find it incredibly interesting to hear about his playing. Ashton's drumming is part of the reason why I love 5SOS and seeing him being recognized like this makes me very proud.
I never got heavily into 5SOS but I won’t deny that they’ve got a lot of great songs and all four guys are killer musicians, also as someone who lives in Toronto it made me incredibly happy to see the CN Tower at the beginning and the stage at the Budweiser Amphitheater, I’ve seen so many shows there with the most recent one being Billy Talent back in July
I think that is Ashton's new Condo which he has said he just bought in the last year.. So it is in Toronto. Nice!

Man I don't listen to a lot of 5SOS, but Young Blood is one of my very favorite songs ever. I like this guy. He's really down to earth and seems to know his stuff and loves what he does

Recently, I became a 5SOS fan, and ashton made me want to play drums. It's like this video was made for me!!
Hearing Ashton talk about the fan culture aspect nearly had me in tears, I have been a fan since 2014 and they have remained my favorite band since then. Seeing them on your this summer was truly life changing and I just love him and the whole band so much, plus I just got my 5sos tally tattoo.
Totally agree, I had the same reaction when he spoke about fan culture. I'm so grateful to have that in common with them besides a shared love of their music.

I dont really like their songs, but i really enjoyed his playstyle. So elegant, and professional.
I saw 5SOS numerous times in their early days, and then saw them for the first time again this recent tour. Super impressed with Ashton's drumming and creativity. Even on their older albums the drumming is fantastic. Recently I fell in love with the song Outer Space which is in 6/8. I do miss the pop punk vibes but their new sound suits them.
I'm so happy for Ashton, he is so incredibly talented at everything he does and he is a top-tier drummer ❤

I wore out their live version of youngblood at Summertime Ball, just jamming to that track for hours. Ashton’s groove is incredible, totally propels the song
watching this just further affirms the kind of down-to-earth, kind, and passionate man he is. he really cares about his craft and this band and it shows so much in the way he talks. it’s so refreshing to see artists that care and truly love what they do. there’s a reason he’s one of my absolutely favorite people ever! 🤭
Oh I love how he represent the songs, especially the blender one when he goes slow at first, then slowly goes up and act like he's in the real concert with audience, then goes hard and slay it. THE TRANSITION THO 🔥

I didn't used to love 5sos because I thought their music lacked depth. However, the past year I've rediscovered them and actually see the beauty and work that goes into their music! I love this video and Ashton Irwin is an excellent musician. I totally am inspired to pick up the drums !!

I admire Ashton so much. His story about his stepdad is so wholesome I'm so proud of him and im glad he's getting more appreciation. I love how he describes the music and drumming process in the making of each song. Such a talented musician.
I'm now an all-out metalhead, but I would have never started drumming if it weren't for Ashton. 5SOS emerged at the perfect time where I was just the right age to get into slightly more mature music (having been a big boyband aficionado) and I thought 5SOS were the greatest thing ever. Some people in the comments are truly scared to admit it but Ash is a phenomenal drummer (check out his solo record Superbloom for more great drum work btw) that deserves this so much.

Ashton approaches the drums with the same excitement as a kid on Christmas and I love to see his passion shine through in everything he does whether it be on the kit, vocally, or any creative realm for that matter. This video also does a great job of showcasing who he is as a person: compassionate, kind, down-to-earth, and charming. What a guy. I wish him nothing but the best for Ashton and am proud to call myself a fan. It was a pleasure tuning in and hearing him explain different grooves and discuss his role in the band. Overall, this was a great episode
