Great video Craig. You’ve explained it to me before but I didn’t quite get the gist. The video makes it really clear. Thanks. All I need to do is get my boat back in the water to give it a try!
Awesome!! I’m getting closer to my retirement dream and have been looking at the Seawind for sometime. For reals I would appreciate any recommendations or future videos on the 1160. How do you feel about the outboards and is there room to upgrade to the Yamaha 50 hp gas. Or is the Diesel the way to go? David M, Los Angeles CA
Hi David - apologies for my delay in responding! The outboards are fine for coastal work in benign conditions. For heavier seas they do cavitate and give less thrust than the diesels. PLUS you lose three very useful storage locations including the beer fridge (which I consider a travesty! LOL) Also the above manoeuvre simply doesn’t work with the outboards as they are not in line with the rudders. Finally the power generation and hot water would be enough alone to get the diesels in my view.
@@craigmargetts3186 Thanks, we have Seahawk folding 3 blade but find they don't bit as much in reverse so we usually need to give her more power in reverse.
@@carolynmartin1965 good point. Although they bite quickly, I estimate that we need 10-15% more power in reverse. I should have commented that. Thanks.
Thanks Craig for this very helpful maneuver tip😊
You’re welcome!
Simple maneuver, straightforward video editing, perfect lesson. Thank you.
Great tips. Thanks for sharing Craig 😊
Hope it’s useful Joanne

Excellent explanation Craig. Thx very much. As a matter of interest does Scarlett have fixed or folding props?
SCARLETT has Gori 3-blade folding props and they seem very quick to “bite” when going from forward to reverse and vice versa.
