Do you have a direct or indirect hernia? In other word's,is it above the genital area on the left or right side or down in the scrotum? And is it the size of an egg yolk or larger? The laproscopic has the advantage of while they are in there, they can see if the other side is starting to tear. That way, they can repair both sides in one surgery Two surgeries are living hell compared to one of course. With many athletic patients the second side blows out a few years or less later. The Laproscopic for many heals more quickly. However, pain and speed of recovery is very subjective.. The mesh repair is stronger like for example, cement with re-bar vs cement without However, there is a small risk of a mesh issue.Non mesh repair has a much higher blood loss and not quite as strong of a repair The three incisions for the laproscopic are small vs a larger incision for the open. However, with the open, the scar is more hidden obviously...since it is where most people don't see it. Best wishes for your decision
@@bluewave7120 According to my ultra sound I had on my left side I have a “reducible fat containing inguinal hernia” in my lower left abdomen, not sure if it’s indirect or direct or not, they didn’t say nor did I ask them. Its hard to pinpoint exactly where it is by feel, pretty much my whole lower left abdomen feels like it’s bulging, not all the time but enough times for it to be a huge annoyance. It’s non visible though, you can’t see it if you look at my body, and I’m very skinny so it must be a small one. I also recently started feeling the same sensation on my right side, doctor also felt it at my recent appointment so I have an ultrasound in a couple days scheduled to confirm that side. I will have to have both sides repaired with surgery. It’s rarely painful, only if I really exert myself throughout the day I will feel pain. I definitely feel a bulging sensation there though that makes me paranoid about little things like lifting, laughing, sneezing, coughing, going to the bathroom, etc because mine is a reducible one so it pops in and out. I can go most days without feeling it but I want to go back to lifting weights and constantly adding more to the weights to keep lifting heavier in order to gain muscle mass and size but this hernia really interferes with that because after a workout it pops out and really flares up. I don’t want to have to quit the gym for life and live a sedentary lifestyle because of a fucking hernia, but then again surgery can cause lifelong complications, I know this from experience with another non-hernia surgery I had done. It’s not something to take lightly. It’s just a tough decision to make. My surgery is scheduled Sept. 26, think about cancelling everyday.

It is a natural weak point in the abdominal wall Too much pressure against a very weak facia tissue resulting in a tear that does not heal
and to add on to this, the tear results in an opening allowing your bowels to push through and poke out@@bluewave7120
