FYI, when the monarch leaves the game, the turn player becomes the new monarch. If the turn player was the monarch, the next player in turn order becomes the new monarch (722.4) So it didn't matter, but Ben should have become the monarch near the end.
I was wondering if they were gonna do this. I had my comment trigger finger ready to go, but I figure someone had already beat me to it lol. The "if it was cast" is just tucked away and hard to miss
40:23 Loved the editing here. The crown just *poof*ing itself on CGB's head was absolutely perfect. Monarch is such a great Commander mechanic. Simple, encourages interaction, changes the targeted player on its own, and cards that bring it into play are all threats worth trying to take the crown and start that ball rolling.
This is by far my favorite commander show. Very genuine. I always enjoy seeing everyone's personalities come out in their deck building. Shae's shrines made me smile when they started popping off.. so many tokens Shae! Blake and is wedding rings calling out for love and companionship was just wonderful. CGB as always playing his cutthroat game was nothing new. When does he not have a counterspell in hand at the perfect time? And how can anyone not root for Ben to win. Great game everyone. Thank you.
The moral of the 'scorpion/frog' parable IMHO is to not try to help evil people, it's not in their nature to accept help properly because they are evil, so they'll eventually punish you for helping them/trusting them on any level at all. It's also possibly pointing out to young people 'don't try to help wild animals, they'll attack you if you try', because if a scorpion is stranded and needs to cross a body of water, now they know to tell the scorpion 'sure!' and then drown it just before it'll stab you to death, a foolproof plan! Also, the Scorpions got music from the CIA apparently, weird shit you find out when your favourite metal band loves the Scorpions I guess.
The closing music is such a jam! Fun, swingy game. But let’s talk about the real star of the show, Shae’s Asparagus Festival sweatshirt. What a weird thing, but I could not stop wondering where the asparagus festival was, when Shae went, or how much she loves asparagus to not only go to the festival, but also buy the shirt!
Just realized why CGB's mannerisms with his hands seem familiar, he is the Sweedish Chef! Seriously, the way he fumbles about with his cards, it's so much like the Sweedish Chef! CGB, you need to cosplay Sweedish Chef. Please please please! Love you CGB crew!
In the last Game Knights Episode of the Year (which was a few weks ago or so), it was a deck with all four players playing Phyrexian Praetors as their commander, Josh was playing the new Elesh Norn from Phyrexia, All Will Be One, and he had the wedding ring in his deck and he basically got double triggers from it entering the battlefield having two out of the three other players being "Married" to him and it was hilarious the whole thing was funny
Fantastic episode folks and the wedding ring fiasco was definitely the highlight. Hopefully, Blake remembers the Tale of the Scorpion and the Frog in future politics with CGB this year. 🦂🐸
Rulings for "Court of Bounty" that cover Monarch/players dying: If the monarch leaves the game during another player’s turn, that player becomes the monarch. If the monarch leaves the game during their turn, the next player in turn order becomes the monarch. (2020-11-10) If combat damage dealt to the monarch causes that player to lose the game, the triggered ability that causes the controller of the attacking creature to become the monarch doesn’t resolve. In most cases, the controller of the attacking creature will still become the monarch as it is likely their turn. (2020-11-10)
CGB - if you don't have a commander locked in for the next few episodes, you could try to build the Old Stickfingers deck from the cHB tournament a few days ago (the deck with Razaketh, Young Necromancer, and Nyxbloom Ancient), since you mentioned wanting to play the deck in EDH. You obviously wouldn't be able to use the Paradox Engine combo, but you could try replacing the combo bit with a Witherbloom Apprentice + Chain of Smog combo (or any other combo). Either way though, thank you for the amazing content as usual (and thank you to the rest of the crew as well!), and I'm looking forward to the rest of the cHB month!
I remember one time I played Primal Amulet on turn one because my entire hand had tap lands except for my single basic mountain. I didn't even get until my next turn until someone Nature's Claimed it. I cried and then lost.
Am I wrong to think that for the emergent ultimatum, you have to cast both as part of the resolution of the ultimatum before any of those spells get resolved. So the quicksilver gargantuan couldn’t be a copy of massacre wurm. Or can you choose when it resolves and not before like cast targeting. I’m not sure. My brain just went like this feels wrong but I don’t really know.
🤔 hrm. The only ruling in the gatherer is that if quicksilver gargantuan enters at the same time as another creature it can't enter as a copy of that creature. It must copy a creature already on the battlefield. However in this case they have to be cast, so you can choose the order of the cast. Emergent ultimatum says you ignore timing permissions based on the cards. So, they both go on the stack. However quicksilver gargantuan doesn't specify to choose a target on cast and gatherer doesn't specify either. you can simply choose to let it enter the battlefield as a copy of another creature. So, I guess so long as massacre wurm resolves first, I think you are okay to choose this as a target. I guess it depends on whether that choice needs to be made on cast, or if it can be done on ETB.
You're only half wrong. You do need to cast both spells when resolving Emergent Ultimatum. But that's just _casting_ the spells - they resolve as usual. Quicksilver Gargantuan's copy effect is a replacement effect on entering the battlefield, so as long as it enters the battlefield _after_ Massacre Wurm, it will work. So the trick here is casting the Gargantuan _first_ and then the Wurm; since they both go on the stack together, the Wurm will resolve first.
Hi [Winner], while it may have been [No Spoilers] who first uttered, “Ribbit, dude” at the end of CGB’s Frog & Scorpion story…It was actually you who painted the full portrait of what it means 👍 A truly sick deck or ‘Emergent’ proportions!!
As a Shrine fan I got so hype for the title because I was really hoping to see shrines go off especially since Ben didn't really get to last time. Alas, maybe one day.
@CovertGoCrew 718.4 If the monarch leaves the game, the active player becomes the monarch at the same time as that player leaves the game. If the active player is leaving the game or if there is no active player, the next player in turn order becomes the monarch.
That was a nasty marriage, cgb tried taking everything from the crown to the kitchenware, shay got killed in the process r.i.p 😥... ben stands tall at the end but he lost his soul mate and went through one hell of a marriage. 🤪🤣 you all are funny af, thanks for the laughs, great episode 😎
Why was Ben playing only artifact ramp in a green deck that cares quite a bit about how many lands it has out? Mana vault and crypt make sense for pushing Yarok out but the rest of those should easily be replaced by green land ramp spells.
For the launch of Phyrexia, All Will Be One, you should all play your own commander decks with Elesh Norn as your commander. All 4 of you play mono white brew decks with the same commander. May the best Elesh Norn lead Phyrexia to its compleation
Everyone should have lost four life from each death in the Emergent Ultimatum fiasco. Both spells need to resolve as part of Emergent Ult's resolution, meaning the copy would be on the battlefield before the Wurm's ETB resolves. Shea is still (and very, very) dead, but I guess we'll see if those few extra points matter
PSA: If you plan on casting Jeska’s Will, so so before playing your land for the turn! Love you Blake lol also apparently more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce
Unfortunate that the top down camera wasn't properly adjusted. Definitely tolerable but aside from that great video. Hard for me to find Commander gameplay that I actually want to watch. The people in the video were definitely entertaining to watch together.
She played an older text version of the card which says "play" but the gatherer text specifically says : Whenever you cast an enchantment spell, you may draw a card. So Eidolon of Blossoms and Setassan Champion are enchantment ETB draws (i think the only), where as the other Enchatress's are cast triggers. Sythis, Satyr, Verduran, Mesa etc
@@indron1887 that would be weird if they changed all the enchantresses to etb triggers instead of cast triggers... Go shintai creates 1/1 shrines, so I dont see how verduran enchantress would trigger of their creation... In arena settassan champ will trigger because she sees the enchantment etb...not sure if verduran is in arena.
FYI, when the monarch leaves the game, the turn player becomes the new monarch. If the turn player was the monarch, the next player in turn order becomes the new monarch (722.4)
So it didn't matter, but Ben should have become the monarch near the end.
thanks i wanted to write that down but u did it first^^
The wedding ring doesn't create a copy if it wasn't cast btw. When it etb's after the hostage taker leaves the battlefield, it was not cast
I was wondering if they were gonna do this. I had my comment trigger finger ready to go, but I figure someone had already beat me to it lol. The "if it was cast" is just tucked away and hard to miss
He probably shoulda read it right the first time. He kinda skimmed over the cast effect lol
40:23 Loved the editing here.

Monarch is such a great Commander mechanic. Simple, encourages interaction, changes the targeted player on its own, and cards that bring it into play are all threats worth trying to take the crown and start that ball rolling.
Oh yeah. Agreed on both counts!
That was perfect.. it didn't even look like Shae blinked at all
Blake: “We are in a healthy relationship.”
Also Blake: “I’m going to attack you”
28:17 "I'm just trying to play the game," He says as he attempts to fetch Mindslaver
He was trying to play the game so hard, he wanted to play for his opponents too 😂
Best part of Sunday is seeing another video from the Crew. Awesome video!

perfectly stated
I love this channel but CGB is the exact person I try to avoid in my commander pods lol

Blake using strionic resonator, which only copies triggered abilities, doesn’t work with Osgir, who has an activated ability.

Nice to see King Ben defeat his two wives in the final rounds for a royal victory 🤣
"So I'm playing Shrines"
CGB immediately on the defensive
We love the show, but nearly every time the top camera showing the table is blurry.
You definitely should do an all praetor commander episode when All Will Be One comes out.
The Scorpions album in the corner sent me, fantastic editing
Fantastic episode folks and the wedding ring fiasco was definitely the highlight. Hopefully, Blake remembers the Tale of the Scorpion and the Frog in future politics with CGB this year. 🦂🐸
CGB saved everyone just to be destroyed by the very thing he created 😂😂
I really like the shop's feel surrounding the players in a warm welcoming environment =)

the camra lens is still foggy lol im watching it on 4K and its blurry xD
37:00 wedding ring says: "if it was cast" if I am not mistaken
Just got to Blake's Osgir intro and I'm amped. I love playing that dude. Just played with him yesterday against my son. :)
Well I can truly say the worm has turned for Ben.

yet another outstanding game

The tale of the Toad and Scorpion could've been worded a bit better lol. Loved the game though!
We need a refocus on the overhead camera but dang do I love these games
Blake should run Wedding Ring in every deck now. For the memes.
Hello. Maybe I missed it but was it mentioned why overhead cam was blurry? Thank you.
Awesome show, people! Also, I can't stop laughing each time you promote the 5% off code. "Worst" is the Dutch word for "Sausage" :p
Ooohhh... CGB likes The Name of the Wind. Good taste!
Nice episode with everyone's decks doing their thing! FWIW, I think Mommy Norn won't totally take Yarok's place with Yarok having access to 3 colours.
I think what they meant was playing a Yarok deck against Elesh would be impossible
@CovertGoCrew

exquisite taste is shown by picking scarab god!
my favourite commander. i built him 3 times. midrange/value ; zombies and the best: reanimator!
Love the frog and scorpion story!. 😂
@21:45 - fastest divorce ever
Hostage Taker exiles Wedding Ring, marriage immediately becomes abusive XD
Awww I really wanted to see Shea's Shriner's Convention.
Pawned that Wedding Ring the first chance he got hahahahah
Strionic resonator only copies triggered abilities, not activated abilities, no?
Please, for the love of god, fix the overhead camera. It is so blurry, I cannot keep track of the board state.
Yeah focus went bad a few times.
I would love to see someone do a deck on Svella, Ice Shaper
That was a nasty marriage, cgb tried taking everything from the crown to the kitchenware, shay got killed in the process r.i.p 😥... ben stands tall at the end but he lost his soul mate and went through one hell of a marriage. 🤪🤣 you all are funny af, thanks for the laughs, great episode 😎
Why is the top camera blurry
That scorpion and toad story was quite ribbiting.

Blake not giving Shea the wedding ring has to be in his top misplays on this show. #sheatoopretty
I typed that out right before the sea gate restoration. FYI
ok so, CGBlake ship ...could seen it coming, CGBlakeBen ship could not seen it coming. BlakeBen ship 4 ever :)
Album: "Love at first sting" xD
You guys should do non preator phryeixan commanders
Wedding ring only triggers if you cast it
Its always a good day when ben wins.
For the launch of Phyrexia, All Will Be One, you should all play your own commander decks with Elesh Norn as your commander. All 4 of you play mono white brew decks with the same commander. May the best Elesh Norn lead Phyrexia to its compleation
The overhead camera is blurry as hell. What the heck happened? Lol
CGB might be *a* scorpion but Blake was *the* scorpion that massacred the game! GG EZ
You should definitely play the new Elesh Norn when it comes out.
Ben decided that CGB's wedding rings were fake, so he threw them to the ground!
The tarrasque
SCORPIONS SHOUTOUT!!!
Aesop's Fables with CGB. Almost as good as the ol' lore drops.
cgb can u make a scarab god historic brawl deck ? xD
Everyone should have lost four life from each death in the Emergent Ultimatum fiasco. No, both spells are _cast_ as part of Emergent Ultimatum's resolution. They go on the stack as usual.
Ben Massacred that game! 😮
Hey Ben... the whole "til death do us part" is not supposed to work that way...
PSA: If you plan on casting Jeska’s Will, so so before playing your land for the turn! Love you Blake lol also apparently more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce
CGB looking like prince john from robin hood
ps... scropion says "its in my nature"
The active player becomes the monarch, if the player with monarch dies for some reason😊 just a heads up for next time
Ben as monarch should absolutely be Benrith
Can we have one game where the overhead camera is actually in focus???? It is so infuriating
Need a game with all 4 players with Wedding Ring in their decks...
The overhead camera was way out of focus through the game.
I think whenever Shae's life gain shrine triggered she would of gained 36 life
gain life base on # of shrines, not the life opponents lost
the topdown camera is so blury!!! pls fix next time!
Ben proving he was truly the best husband…
Unfortunate that the top down camera wasn't properly adjusted. Definitely tolerable but aside from that great video. Hard for me to find Commander gameplay that I actually want to watch. The people in the video were definitely entertaining to watch together.
covert looks like almost tony hawk
Please try to fix the overhead camera.
Love these shows but it’s very frustrating to watch when the overhead camera is so out of focus. Please keep trying to figure it out!
Massy slaps
Shea plays one of the most fun Commanders and gets taken out first 😞
Is anyone here familiar with the story of Darth CGB?
You guys need to get a room already.
40:22
Team scarab here
Team take cgbs turns here
35:05 I think clone abilities cant see creatures entering at the same time. Should have copied something already on the battlefield.
When sheas shrine token comes in she should be drawing off the enchantress
A total of 6 cards
She played an older text version of the card which says "play" but the gatherer text specifically says : Whenever you cast an enchantment spell, you may draw a card. 😀
Cgb, cgb, cgb, cgb....
i think shrine of stone fangs should of gain shay more life
You’re my BOI, BEN!!!!!
