    Thanks for uploading this. Ive been doing a lot of googling and couldn't find a side by side comparison. Looks like its the acu for me. I also thought that it was strange that the mss system cost the same. I imagine its age, even if stored perfectly, would reduce its active life. The acu pack is all over ebay at 149.99. Looks like thats about the price. Time to purchase.

      @@Zoltoks I'm looking at getting the superfly tarp by warbonnet. I think that combination with the acu bivy would be perfect for every season except areas with heavy bugs. I'm sure their is something to add that provide netting over the bivy. Cheers and again good review. I look foward to seeing your winter trip video.

    I actually have a woodland camo new. With the acu patrol and intermediate acu bags. Works out good for my area. Sweet stealth camping system.

    I have the woodland, by the way the intermediate black bag nests inside the green patrol bag! One aspect I like about the bivvy is that it is a quite fabric with a matte finish with out shine or glimmer.

    Its funny how the US Army and I diverged in our respective development of a sleep system, since I separated. Mine revolves around mountain climbing and consists of either a polyester light bag, or a deluxe down bag for colder trips, both in the 3-4 lb range. Instead of a bivvy bag, I use a one-man gortex tent, with a hoop and screen at the front, weight is 2 lbs. Civvy stuff is arguably better for the weight, and the surplus MSS is more expensive in comparison.

    • @funbobtime
      @funbobtime  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, the surplus stuff can still have a place, I love the quality, but the weight and price has been pushing it to the back of my go to gear. The bivy itself is still pretty cool, but you can save several lbs just getting a cheap synthetic bag or bags to go inside it. I’m probably gonna branch out some vids into alternate set ups.

    Does the label in the top inner part of the ACU bivy say:
    " BIVY COVER
    W9124Q-05-D-0826
    TENNIER INDUSTRIES, INC."
    Or something like that?
    The material feels lighter and softer than the woodland bivy I still have from the military and I'm trying to figure out if this is a knock off, I was supposed to buy it from Tannier on Amazon
