Actual tripods and monopods are too heavy and large to be handheld. Therefore the rule of not extending more than 6' is irrelevant, because it is a selfie stick.

Jason - if u ever wanna go to DL again or California adventure, let me know. I can be your personal tour guide cuz I’m an avid goer and I woulda had us done with all of Disneyland by 1pm 🤗. And ya you picked the worst spot to eat. Fried chicken spot on Main Street, Tiana’s in new orleans square is also very good. Decent pasta but not the pizza at pizza planet. My fave is the birria sandwich over at jolly holiday but that’s not served all year long.
I enjoyed this Trip ! Wish A Slot Machine would do this ! Surprised there wasn’t any GOOFY 🤪 SLOTS ! Were you WIN. 🏆 Daughter’s gonna have a sore neck, talking to you.
Very refreshing to see you win the debate over the tripod! I also try to help my 14 year old daughter face these types of obstacles in life. Keep up the great content. You two are a team that many people could learn from!!!! &&&& Someone gifted me a membership! Thanks so much for your generosity!!! ❤️
You made my day. I don’t take crap from people anymore especially when they are wrong. I love calling people out in the grocery store when they treat me rudely. Teach your employees the rules. Thanks Jason.
I’ve worked in customer service for 15 years and IMO He’s the worst kind of customer. The “it’s not about the money it’s the principle of the thing” customer. Like I have to be right cause the customer is always right, without remembering that everyone (including that security woman) is human and imperfect and makes mistakes, but instead of moving on and letting it go since “it’s only $20 it doesn’t matter” he has to return to the same employees and start a second interaction til he feels he’s proved them wrong and has “won”
I’ve been in customer service and a business owner for 27 years. They failed. It’s simple. There is a lot more interaction where I was being nice and trying to talk with the woman. I know what it’s like on both sides. They were wrong and they needed to know. It’s that simple. Don’t bark up this tree with “poor me, I’ve dealt with people like you” because you have no clue who I’ve dealt with in my life. I had facts and proof to discredit their bs. Again, the first two were unprofessional on so many levels. I wish people would watch the entire interaction if we posted it.
Go away Karen. “The worst kind of customer”, yes someone who supports your company and spends tens of thousands of dollars on your product, is the worst customer. You make no sense.
The reason your tripod got flagged is that it is small enough (with the tripod part closed) that you could hold it and extend the middle part and use it as a selfie stick. Selfie sticks are specifically called out as not allowed in Disney parks because people were using them on rides and endangering other guests. Problem is that some people (not you) don't use common sense and will use what you brought in as a selfie stick and drop it while on a ride and it will go flying and hit someone else in the head. I'm sure selfie sticks also irritate other guests. I have brought in a tripod into Disneyland (with no issues from security), but it is too big, there is no way you could use it as a selfie stick or on a ride, it can only be used on the ground. It meets all of the other requirements though, does not extend more than 60" and fits in my small backpack. I only took it out to record the fireworks, the rest of the time it was in a locker or my backpack. The security guard was just trying to do their job and identified it as being able to be used as selfie stick. Not right if they copped an attitude with you, but it is their job to try to prevent banned items from getting into the parks, including selfie-sticks. If you get another mini-tripod that doesn't extend in the middle like yours, you shouldn't have any issues from security. I know in your opinion what you brought isn't a selfie stick, but when the middle part is extended, it could be used to take selfies. Even if you don't use it that way, its open to interpretation and the rules say that all selfie sticks are considered a banned item regardless of how much it extends while tripods and monopods that fit in a backpack are allowed. The specific verbiage on the list of banned items is "Selfie sticks (hand-held extension poles for cameras and mobile devices)". Since your tripod is so small, it can be handheld and when fully extended it could be looked at as a hand-held extension pole. Thats where if you had a different one that doesn't extend, security would have no issue with it. I do see your POV though, Disney should be more specific on the differences between a selfie stick and monopod/tripod, since from your POV it isn't a selfie-stick it is a monopod, but at the end of the day its up to security to decide. Definitely open to interpretation, but thats where a non-extending mini-tripod would allow you to film while eating but not get flagged as a selfie-stick.
More rational , objective analysis of reasoning . Bottom line is you’re in their house you’re under their rules. All you have to do is be diplomatic on how you express your frustrations. In essence, it’s not your day. It’s your daughter’s day. Keep her happy. She’s a little kid.
I agree with you 100% and I had that conversation with the female security guard. The interaction was a lot longer than you see. People would not have wanted to sit through the entire interaction. I did talk about how anything could be identified as a selfie stick and that if I did that, I could get ejected from the park. I know the rules. I can see both sides, but my issue is their employees did not even know the rules. They were surprised when I brought them up to them. He was saying things that did not even pertain to what I was talking about. He said that I gave up the item and end of story. Lol. The bottom line is they need to get better overall. Training is key. They charge enough and should be able to give these employees a very healthy salary. This is a very important position.
@@JasonWasTHERE I am totally with you, Disney security should know their rules and have better training! He should have been able to produce the rules to show you why he wouldn't allow it in, not the other way around.
Welcome to Ca lol Disney food is better if you make a reservation, otherwise you get what you get, security is always picky but the entertainment is the best I like both parks. I’m with you about confrontation..
I totally respect you for handling it the way you did. I would have done the same. I have had reservations about a return trip to Disney after a few of their stupid rules.
I'll have to remember that policy when I bring in my Gopro Volta and Disney TSA questions and thinks it's a "selfie stick!" Some security guards are cool, but occasionally you encounter a guard that acts like they're God!
Excellent advice Jason.Standing up to what I sometimes consider bullies with Egos is a good thing. I do not think their Security knew what qualified as what was allowed in the park, until you schooled them. Not being push over is what they aren't use to.
OK a lot of things (relative to DIsney World) coming from a native Angelean: 1. The park was built in 1955 and they had no idea it would have to accomodate that number of people, thus the line configuration and confusion--which the only way to fix would be to knock down and rebuild (if they had the space, which they don't). 2. Autopia is special for a kid--or at least it was in the 1970's when you'd puke from the fumes--glad you did that one. Jungle Cruise hasn't been good since 1980's--they cut the ride time by 2/3 and the jokes by 99%, and the ad-libbing by 100% due to the humor senitivities of people with lawyers on retainer. 3. Most of the food at Disneyland has sucked since the late 1970s (back to the 1955 issue). Fritters in New Orleans Square are good if you don't care about the carbs, and of course the Dole whip is a must even with the diabetic episode it will cause. The Blue Bayou (the one in Pirates) is ok--you'd give it 3.8 porobably. Make reservations a month or more in advance for dinner. Lamplight Lounge in CA Adventure is decent. Actually the food in CA Adventure is much better generally (up to date). You could also join Club 33 for about the price of a new Toyota Camry. 4. The Grand Californian resort is definitely special if you can fade the $$, which is similar to buying the plaid vest guy. The new Pixar Hotel was a pass for me, except if the price difference is enough, you can sleep there and short walk to Grand Californian to hang out. 5. Keep in mind there are over 20M people within 2 hours driving of Disneyland, and it's not just a tourist destination, and there are more security variables there than in Orlando. I have always found things to be a little more uptight in CA. It's hard to find enough help in the summer for sure. You were 100% right, and you were unlucky to catch the wrong person at the wrong time.
Try Knott's Berry Farm. 5 miles from Disneyland, (America's first theme park) 'Ghostrider 'wooden rollercoaster there is excellent, btw. Camp Snoopy has lots of rides for kids.
There are so many good quick service places in Disneyland too bad you went to riverbelle terrace. Also you should have went to Salt n Straw in Downtown Disney. I’ve seen other TH-camrs get shot down at the security like that so they just go to another entrance and they got in no questions lol it’s odd how they don’t stick to their rules ?
You had every right to be upset, I would be too. It sucks to have a blemish on your vacay but Disneyland can do whatever they want. You abide by the rules...that's it. Florida is waayyyyy more lax about things. I've been an AP since early 2000's and its always been very strict- selfie sticks are the enemy lol (even if its a monopod)
Good for you Jason If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything "It's principle" not the $20 tripod We had Disneyland season passes for 8 or so years we let them go with all the changes to the park & how crowded it is, it's only a hour from our house but just not worth the hassle inside the park. My husband is the same way when we started our plumbing company my husband would go after who ever didn't pay going to court, putting lien's on homes ETC. After a while he got tired of the whole process, I hope you & your girls had a good time after the nonsense.
Yep, It can be really frustrating when experiences, whether at a theme park or in business, don't align with what you expect or believe in. Thank you for your feedback!
As a Disney TH-cam content creator, I myself have heated discussions with Cast Members about my DJI Gimbal. In the Disney defense they don’t allow “selfie sticks” which is anything that expands which yours does cause there was plenty of idiots who would extend them on rides and hit things. You can argue with me all you want, yours expands so it’s a “selfie stick”. That all being said I appreciate you holding your ground and searching facts before going back to argue more lol You know the rules so you’re not stupid to extend it, but not everyone is like you and I. It’s those asses that walk around with the sticks expanded and then screw us that follow the rules.
But, the DJI gimbal also extends and could be considered a selfie stick. Honestly anything that holds a phone could be considered a selfie stick if you can take a pic of yourself. This fits in a backpack and doesn’t extend over 6’ long.
@@JasonWasTHEREbetter yet read the rules. The device you had could be interpreted to be a selfie stick, getting mad and having a temper tantrum with a cast member is wrong. Simply ask to speak to a supervisor, don’t make a scene out of it. You certainly have a right to ask for clarification, just do it like a grown up.
Disneyland is certainly different then disneyworld for sure. Security is certainly different at Disneyland as well. Not sure why. I used to really love Disneyland, and in some respects I still prefer Disneyland. But I think disney world likely will be our new destination. One thing about security, they really do have final say on what enters the park. I had prior approval from park management on some items for a photo shoot we paid a lot for and security wouldn’t let some of the stuff in, even with prior approval. While I wasn’t able to bring in that particular prop my liaison at Disney studios made it up to me so I guess I came out ahead, but just one security person really screwed up a day for sure…. Like I had said in your disneyworld video I had a couple of pretty bad experiences at Disneyland due to employees. It can really mess your day up if you get someone that’s just having a bad day.
@@JasonWasTHERE I had a droid prop, one I had ironically built FOR Disney, that we asked if we could take it into the park and pay their photographers to do photo shoots with the vehicles in the starwars area. It wasn’t a big one. We wanted the photos for our shop. Like I said I had pre arraigned this months ahead of time and had documentation. But security said nope…… I called my contacts and wound up getting park management involved but they said security has final say on what comes in the park. While it kinda ruined that part of the day we wound up with something that more then made up for the monetary loss and some of the anguish. I also found out there were other ways we could have done this that would have guaranteed entrance but would have cost way more. It really wasn’t worth the extra cost and hoops though
Wow, way to act entitled and throw a tantrum. You realize you are making money off of their content, right? Your tri-pod DOES function as a selfie stick. It DOES pull out to be vert long. How hard is it to just get one of those handheld gimbles that most content creators in the parks use. Most content creators have respect for the fact that they are making money off of Disney. They treat cast members with kindness as well as try to be respectful of other guests in the park. You threw a tantrum and then once in the park, instead of voicing your grievance in Guest Relations where it belonged, you decided to exit back to the security cast members and harrass them some more when they needed to be doing their job and making sure all guests are safe. You taught your child that verbally abusing service workers to get your way is ok, which it is not. Guest services are there to address guest issues. It also would not have taken much out of your day to go back to the hotel and drop it off until you had it straightened out. I could tell you were at a local hotel right there on Harbor. You were closer to your hotel than you were to the Disneyland Hotel. But you wanted the fight to boost your viewership. Disgusting. Your video auto started while I was watching other content creators that I am subscribed to. I will make sure that doesn't happen again.
Katie, get your facts straight. You do realize that most gimbals extend as well? DJI is the most popular and it does. Also, I treat everyone with respect. Watch my videos. The only time people are not treated with respect is when they pull this. I don’t owe them anything when they don’t even understand policies at the company they work for and try to take it out on me. Why would I go to guest relations? I did exactly what anyone should’ve done and gone to the supervisor’s supervisor. She knew the rules and took care of the situation. You also have no right telling me how I should or should not parent. My daughter will have a voice as she gets older and she will not get pushed around. there’s no reason to shelter her from people like this. This is not a normal interaction. You also seem to think that I did this on purpose to get views. I am vlogging my every day life experiences on this channel. Do you think it’s making any money and I care about views? lol. Look at my other channel, Mr. Hand Pay. That is what’s making money. There’s nothing that I click bait on this channel or manufacture. It’s all real! Think twice before you make some ridiculous comment on here again. Do your homework first.
Hey lady you are a complete moron. First off never ever comment on another persons kid. Go back and watch his videos what he does and teaches for his kid or kids (jury still out on this one LOl) And for the tri pod issue Jason is correct. They did not know their own rules and he called the out on it. If you keep laying down in life you will not get where this man is in life.

I'm not done watching yet but had to comment before I forgot. I'm so glad you stood up to them. You are in California and I deal with this stuff daily. It has to be the worst state of all. I really want out.
Dad. YTAH. What’s completely ridiculous?! Your TONE OF VOICE. I see your point BUT most people will see your hot-headed attitude as the barrier to solving the problem. Your daughter deserves an emotionally responsible Dad and an explanation (+apology) on how to *better* handle similar situations in real life.
Unfortunately you’re wrong here. The interaction was much longer than what you see. I was asking lots of questions and being nice to the woman at first. She was having none of it.
I totally agree with u Jason. U have to stand up for yourself because for the most part, know one else will. I won't back down if I know I'm right and have proof. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful Sunday. ❤️🥰❤️
“Selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices, flags and banners are not allowed in any theme park.” You should have brought a tripod without extension capabilities. Being upset with people for doing their job correctly is ignorant, even worse you set a very poor example for the children that saw and heard that. I hope you learn to be a better human being to others because this was not a good example of humanity. You were not being treated unfairly, you just felt the rules should not apply to you.

Thank you!
I thought you handled yourself quite well, if you got a little upset, for me it was understandable. You definitely have a tripod. She on the other hand should know the rules bec she works there.
I thought she was rude!
Anyhoo, I love Blair’s headband, she’s adorable, it turns out to be a fun day anyway!!!
After my horrible Disney experience I think you handled it well. The sad thing was regardless of the outcome it starts your day off and your mood in a way you weren't expecting.
I agree with you, but at the end of the day it is what we stand for that matters! What's right is right, and what's wrong is wrong!
Thank you! Sounds like an adventurous trip!
Good times for sure 😊
It's ridiculous that they make a scene over a selfie stick, but hey, Nice video Jason! Hope yall had a nice day ❤😉

I have one like his And lean the security tell them don't extend then you are find ( key word extend)
@@akdisneyShe said it’s a selfie stick because it has the remote on it that nobody uses…

Not being push over is what they aren't use to.

no ask Lead Cast member
It should be put in a locker until you leave the park. Why did they toss it?
They didn’t. Did you watch it all? I wasn’t actually breaking the rules.
Yes, I found out at the end that you got it back. I was premature in my question.
OK a lot of things (relative to DIsney World) coming from a native Angelean:
Thanks for the suggestion!

Wow! Thats crazy they do that. lol
👍👍Great Video!
Thank you! 👍
Yep! I get it. There are people who abuse the selfie sticks all the time. Mine fits in a backpack and doesn’t extend over 60”.

I liked your ears B! We liked adventure better, and the newer rides at Disney. Smoother mechanics.
We agree! Thank you!
Sometimes you need to stand your ground and stay still good job bother
Thanks for the support, brother!👊
My father had a restaurant and he said the same thing customers are never always right!
100%
But they are still the customer! Disney forgot that!
A rule is a rule. That stick extends therefore, it is not allowed. Regardless what your intended use was. You, acting very entitled was cringe! 🤷♀️
Read the rules. If it fits in a backpack and under 6’ long, it’s permitted. Did you watch the entire video before you commented?
@@JasonWasTHEREbetter yet read the rules. The device you had could be interpreted to be a selfie stick, getting mad and having a temper tantrum with a cast member is wrong. Simply ask to speak to a supervisor, don’t make a scene out of it. You certainly have a right to ask for clarification, just do it like a grown up.
FYI! Customer is always right until they turn their back
Hahaha.
That’s nuts! What were you trying to bring in?
Good for you Jason loved the video ❤

She’s going to be in NASCAR soon! Lol
