Hi @SONWU I love your videos. I’m planning on starting journey with creating music. I’m really in love with the idea of op-1 field and all your tutorial videos. I’m very geeky, passionate about sound and music. I’ve found one used one for a 1000 British pounds. Would you say I should go for it? Do you think the field will still get plenty of updates? Any help in making the decision would be greatly appreciated!
@@kacpernowacki4654 Hi, thanks for the nice feedback. Regarding synth purchases: A common "wisdom" you will hear is that you shouldn't buy anything in the hope of future updates. They may never come. I have no idea… Regarding the price, it depends on what they usually go for in the UK. But it sounds alright to me. If you think you can sell it again for a similar price, then there's also no risk involved. Good luck!
@@SONWU thank you so much! They sell brand new for around 1.6-1.8k and this is by 150 pounds best offer I received so I’m sure I can sell it and even make a little money on it. However doing research on teenage engineering they promised 10 year support which I believe the previous op-1 has received so I’m fairly confident there will be still some major updates in the future. Once again thank you for all your help!
Single most important thing! ANY functionality to do this. Scene change quantization to longest pattern? Song mode? Program change over MIDI? I'll take ANYTHING.
@@OPdbx well to be honest I get why it's not there... It's a way to push other products like the TP 7 to record your song, and the CM 15 mic all of these paired into the TX 6 mixer... And opz for a synth... I don't hate it, alot of companies do this, we just feel short changed that the EP 133 didn't come out with the bells and whistles the pocket operator had... Let's hope those updates come out, because I think that's what hindering us from appreciating the EP 1320
We would also need a discard function, when you sample, the trim, a way to get rid of the unused parts so they don't use up the RAM..., also useful if you use 'chop' because then the reference for the chopped sample is the trimmed sample. And one last important feature to me is 'export/import per project' using the 'sample tool' (and if it could work offline... well that would be great). Also a simple way to reset the knobs to middle value would be nice.
Not being able to reverse a sample was a surprise for me when I first got my EP-133. It was pretty much a standard feature on samplers back in the 90s. Right away i was on the teenage engineering site making a feature request for it.
- midi improvements for sequencing external gear (importing/exporting .midi, program changes) - exporting individual projects - dim mode: a way to dim the screen for less distracting blinking
Amazing! Thanks Son, I was JUST thinking about some of these yesterday. The first one I would wish for out of your list is definitely RESAMPLING. Thanks for this
First I thought you bought the Medieval EP as update for the first iteration :) Interesting video. I read somewhere they have a browser based editor. I think, it’s easier to take it for what it is, not what it could be. There are specialized sampler classics for each direction: MPCs, 404s, OP-1s, digitakts and octatracks. That should cover it all in the hardware realm. Many wishes can be fulfilled with just 2 units.
I am really Hoping for a KO2 device that has more MEMORY or SD capabilities and maybe a few more voices of polyphony plus everything you mentioned. This Device has A LOT of potential and is so much fun already i hope they expand on it.
they should add a way to select sounds without triggering the pad. That way one could change the pitch of an individual sound mid performance without having to click in time.
Exactly! So far the 133 is a good unit to play around and chill, but in terms of doing a live performance with it, there it lacks a lot i think. Not enough editing functionality WHILE in play mode
re - resampling 1. would also be nice to have tools to speed up a sample before resampling to gain memory back 2. truncating samples - probably make this a sample tool edit thing as you'll get the wave display too.. so you can actually TRIM (throw away) any dead space before or after the wave .. right now TRIM just sets a start end locator...nothing gets removed/deleted from the file. memory management is quite an important thing with just 64mb space or 32mb on medieval. 3. normalise level
TE should fix the way the EP-133 handles incoming MIDI. The EP-133 currently listens to incoming Midi on all 16 channels. It seems simple enough to fix because Midi Out on EP-133 works fine, you can go into the settings and assign a pad to send Midi signals out on a specific channel. I'm skeptical they can even fix this because it's such a basic settings option that it should have been there from Day 1.
Resampling will be limited with the 64mb storage, unless they expand storage through usb. More extensive automation of FX and punch in fx would be an alternative solution.
I agree with every single idea you have, and from what I know so far the KO II is using almost none of the cpu power it has, so I believe it could handle all of those things. The only thing You missed that I want would be a “hardware sequencer”. In this mode you choose a pad and all of the 16 pads would represent one step of the sequence of that particular sound or pad, then the X Y could be used for micro timing and velocity when you hold down the step you want to edit.
Yes to all of these and add them to the Medieval as well. One FX per group would be great. Also, the ability to set all my scenes in an order an just push play and listen to them as a song like the demos are set up in the Medieval. Plus more visual feed back on the Medieval on things like the threshold setting when setting to sample in from the mic.
This is a great list, I'd more than likely use all of these features. I see people have posted song mode which isn't surprising. Personally I'd like to see a companion app for apple/android.
- In ep sample tool: when you hit the pad, jump to the sample in the sample list (enable behavior with checkbox?) - be able to change Level, Pitch, Tune, Vel, Pan, etc. without the fader e.g. see them as options in sound edit (shift + edit) or while selecting them with the fader button let the knobs adjust the value; or quick press where you hold down shift+sound and select the parameter and be able to move fader or knob
Don't know if you noticed this too, but not only does the 1320 have some semblance of multisampling, but it also has sample looping as well. I noticed this when testing one of the vocal samples by having it play out for like a minute straight just to make sure that's what was happening.
if the only way to sequence a full song with this is to just use it as a sound module through midi, Does each midi channel play a group or does each midi channel play a pad? If using it as a module, If you want some instruments to play as scales and some instruments to play individual samples, can you have that work if your sequencer is your daw and the 133 is just a module?
modulation - pads are pressure sensitiive so why no have the option to lean into a pad and it gets some modulation as it plays back.. recordable of course
can't you record an effect to group with a live fader move to lock in the sound of an effect for one group, and then change the slider fx to something else and it keeps the old one recorded?
Is there a way currently to advance scenes automatically? if not internally, is there a way to advance scenes from a daw through recorded midi messsge of some kind? how could you use this like a drum machine where the whole song's changes are programmed, either internally or through midi and the song plays start to finish by itself?
- Sequence change 2 and 4 bars quantization - Permanent trim of the sample - Sound presets (sample+trim+env+…). How many times I accidentally switched the sound on some pad which resets all of the settings and had to recreate it from scratch…
I would love a ‘restore to default’ option since I accidentally deleted a lot of the stock sounds the first days while learning how it worked and now I can’t have them back anymore 😢

@@SONWU maybe I was totally wrong. I thought that the multisamples were different instruments and phrases across the pads. Sorry to embody the "ackchyually" meme lol, I just figured the EP series wouldn't have enough memory to include full multisampled instruments. Would be amazing if so though.
Lol. Wheres the updates!!??!!

This wish list is everything the sp404 has been doing since day 1 😊 i sent my ko back when the slider was broken and bought a new 404 mk2. I say just get that and call it a day. And I’m a TE fan i have alot of their stuff and its my favorite stuff. The KO just isnt it for so many reasons
Why not appreciate this series as a set of quirky little devices pocket operators for what they are? I have a small problem with peoples sense of entitlement, this is getting absurd and ridiculous.
Jeez. They’re hardly outrageous requests. Why would you not want the device to be better?
@@squiredog people out here stomping their feet and crying on the internet that the devices don’t walk their dog and clean their dishes. Again, your sense of entitlement is annoying af.
I can even do both. Appreciate it and be able to see what could be improved :)…all without being entitled!
@@SONWU your criticisms are minor compared to have of the wild requests that live in comment sections. You’re doin great bud. It’s a community problem.
@@gattearthrid I know what you mean…I think people somehow get outraged either way when it comes to TE. They love it or hate it…I try my best to be balanced.
Kinda click-baity title there
only click-bait if it ain't true ;)
@@SONWU if someone's looking at TH-cam, it appears as though the title is communicating "there have been updates to the EP-133" - because that's what I took it to mean. Yes "we need these" could imply it's a wish list, but it also implies that "we need these new updates that just came out"
