When you forgot to take out the oil filter, you can just run the engine for a few minutes to let the new oil to circulate and push out and dilute the leftover dirty oil that are stuck in the oil pump and other nooks and crannies that unable to drain out and then drain it afterwards, imagine it like you’re using water to rise out soap. That way you have a cleaner engine with less dirty debris which prolongs your engine life. You should do that flush once every 3-4 oil change or so, with additional engine flush product as well if you wish. If you take care of your engine well and use full synthetic oil and change your oil at the right interval every time, just flushing your engine with new oil is enough, no need to use engine flush product but you can use it either way if you want a peace of mind, it’s up to you.
after sailing for many years, I always carried an extra filter for every one I had on my boat. Wavw action and a little bit of debris in the fuel tank can fill a filter and leave you stuck. Extra filters on board can save you.

Thank you for checking out our videos and taking the time to comment. That is really fantastic advice. We will keep it in mind for future oil changes.

That's excellent advice; we will take spares, especially on longer trips away from marinas.
