    "You and I have begun to blur." is one of the best sentences to describe a deep love. They are connected and such a connection is almost impossible to break. No matter what happens, part of them will always care for the other. Even if they don't want to. It's pretty rare as well. The way they experience life itself is different now with the connection. I believe these two were soulmates, they completed eachother.

      For some strange reason when I heard those words all I could think about was in John Lennon and Yoko Ono, I've read that with time those two seemed like the same person, you couldn't tell one person from the other. I know people have opinions about that relationship, I don't have an opinion at all about it to be honest, except that if that's true, and John and Yoko were also soulmates. And so were Hannibal and Will

      Also for anyone interested in reading love philosophy I think this is a reference to Plato symposium describing the origin of love as two being born conjoined to each other, and their connection and love was so powerful that it angered the gods who cursed them to live the as two separated halves and it is their prerogative to spend the rest of their lives finding the other half that once was part of them, it’s a cute story with lots of ideas of love

    This is hands down the most romantic scene I've ever seen, in any film or a show. It's so poetic that under any other set of circumstances it would be borderline cheesy, but here it comes out as 100% honest and fitting. God, I miss this show so much...

      In my eyes this scene *in isolation* is absolutely dripping in unspoken love between the two characters. It oozes out of every line, look, expression. They're even slightly coy around each other. Again on the strength of *just* these few minutes it's an intensely romantic scene and probably the most I've seen in film or television.

      Well to be fair Will adopted the aversion of eye contact. To protect himself from what he would or could see, in every person he meets. So he tried not to be social and keeps to himself. Will is not afraid of what he will see anymore, especially from Hannibal. As he said we have begun to blur.

    I see many people talking about how Hannibal and Will do not share any romantic notions towards one another. Or that they hate when others find these scenes as flirting. I see a few people also saying that all of this is power play, so I’d like to add my two cents!
    I think these people are forgetting that power play has always been and always will be one of the key components to platonic AND non platonic desire. In my opinion I think these two are involved in a: sexual, romantic and intellectual desire for each other.
    Hannibal has always been solitary. He chose to be because in his eyes no one was worthy of his attention and time. They were all “pigs” as said many times in the show. That is until Will came along. He was different. He went into the minds of killers, and over time that fostered a darkness that matched Hannibal’s. Hannibal saw this and at first it was curiosity.
    It is seen that Hannibal is the perfect renaissance man. He’s an intellect and all intellects are curious beings. Ergo he wants to crack the puzzle that was Will, or Will’s mind. In the first season it’s seen that Hannibal only took Will as a project, as something he wanted to learn about and he had no qualms of using him as a scapegoat if need be (which we see later on). But over the course of their relationship Hannibal’s perspective changes. Because Will finds out who he is.
    Will is the only person to ever see past the facade. And that’s the moment Hannibal’s desire from an intellectual pov changes to more of a romantic one. Of course romance comes in different forms. In their case it’s their game of cat and mouse. A power play of words, and hidden messages. Of manipulation and knowing that the other is manipulating the other. Their love is on a whole other level not seen in other portrayal of media.
    It’s quite interesting how unorthodox their emotions for each other are shown throughout this series! As someone who is majoring in behavioral neuroscience I found much delight in watching all these transitions,

      this is such a great analysis of their relationship! though tbh I don’t understand why some people are so determined to say it’s not romantic, at least in the show’s context, to say nothing of the books/movies. like were we watching the same show? not even in terms of the romantic subtext between the two but like. it’s literally text. in the script.
      will: is hannibal in love with me?
      bedelia, effectively: uh, yeah you dumb bitch. but do YOU love HIM?
      the ability to not see what’s in front of you in some viewers......astounds me. but still great comment!!

      “On another level of existence” THANK YOU I was trying to find the words to describe this scene and that’s it. Two bodies - one soul.

    “If I saw you every day, forever, Will, I would remember this time.” - this line is actually the one hannibal said to clarice in the novel. will from the tv show is a fusion of the novel's will and clarice, and honestly, he's more clarice than original will. the thing is in the novel clarice became hannibal's lover and his partner in crime so if we will get s4, that's where it goes i think considering s3 finale. but even without it, the finale is perfect and this portrayal of hannibal and will's relationship is so much more complicated and deep than in the novels - can't live with him, can't live without him.

    This scene was so romantic and aesthetically pleasing. They are sitting there, with angelic voices singing in the background, lowly speaking to one another. The tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife, and it was as if they were the only two people in the world. This surprised me because I'm pretty sure Will was manipulating Hannibal at this time ( I could be wrong). But the way they looked at each other, it was like nothing else mattered to them, but that very moment....

    Those final words are so important I feel. Hannibal knew that Will was going to try to kill him when he said "I'm curious if either of us CAN survive seperation", Can, not could or would. Something definite that's going to happen, i.e. Will killing hannibal. And Hannibal responds in a completely blank way that both deters will from trying it, and pushing him to. "Not letting rage and frustration...nor forgiveness...keep you from thinking". He's not condoning or condemning his attempt, merely giving advice. Hannibal wants to see what Will will (aha) do, as always. Setting up the stage and watching him dance.

    • @puspita282
      @puspita282 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How beautifully you put it into words. In this scene specifically I didn't fully understand Will's intention. He was mostly confused I think. He wanted to get rid of Hannibal but also wanted to follow him in the darkness. He seemed conflicted. I was so indulged in their poetic lines but then will's attempt at killing Hannibal came as a surprise.

    • @sempaijuly
      @sempaijuly ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WOW, YOU LET ME REALISE. This advice is exactly what Hannibal would advise himself after the bloodfest that he made in his house where rage, frustration and forgiveness destroyed his former life and any chances for happiness. He regrets losing his temper and doesn't want Will to repeat the same mistake. But that's exactly what Will does when they come out of the museum - he takes out a knife to stab Hannibal in return for being gutted, and the cycle of violence continues. Hannibal is frustrated and enraged in return that he was not forgiven, it was a lie. The only hope for reconciliation is lost and nothing is left - only to eat Will. I thought so hard what this line meant, it was so weird, too detailed. Now it makes perfect sense.

    • @MHScrat
      @MHScrat ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sempaijuly Ooohhh, that makes me think that the final act of the season, going over the cliff, was Will finally acting not out of rage or frustration OR forgiveness, but finally pure acceptance. And I suppose Hannibal letting him do that was his own way of acceptance as well.

    Hannibal wanted Will to forget the past and let it go, he hinted at this while talking about 'now is the hardest test' line. And Will was curious as well, wondering if he can survive being separated from hannibal? So...when he tries to slit his throat in the next scene, what does that tell us about Will's state of mind?
    He didn't pass Hannibal's test. He let rage and frustration get the best of him. He chose to kill Hannibal and...thus decided to be separate from him.

    On the other side Hannibal found somewone who can feel him ,could predict him maybe not, still he makes him more curious to read will's mind, as we like to f, eel eyes of love ones on ourself, hannibal likes to feel as will is feeling his mind, making him feel his mind, sensing him , maybe he wants will to live his life through him, its like most platonic thing in the world.

    I think that a lot of people seem to challenge the idea of them being in love because they're straight (or have largely been presented to be, or at the very least Bi). Love doesn't have to be sexual in nature, nor does infatuation, their breed of psychological love is not so base as being simply gay, bi, or straight it's far more complex and interesting.

    A lot of people are arguing over whether or not they’re officially intertwined on a romantic level; from what I’ve read, it seems more heavily-implied than outright, explicitly-shown or confirmed, since the creators all talked about their being an implication if homosexuality and a subtext of it rather than an overt atmosphere of it. While it’s hard to deny they’re gay or bisexual after seeing this here, I prefer the idea of it being implied.
