    I'm surprised how will that bike handled the downhill rock section. Sick bike, but I keep going back and watching your YT Izzo videos. If I ever get a second bike the Izzo is the one.

      It really is surprising how well the Spur handles the rowdier stuff. The SID fork is surprisingly not flexy and haven't found the bottom of it yet.

    This is one video I didn't need to watch haha! I really, reallyyyy want a Spur but due to stock issues it doesn't look like they'll be easily available until 2023!!! I've kind of told myself I'll need to go with the Izzo instead but my heart is hankering for one of these bad boys.

      The Spur is an excellent short travel bike. The Izzo is no slouch either. With current wait times The best bike is the one you can get soonest and over a year wait is crazy. Hopefully you're able to get one. Thanks for watching!

      @@StraightLine_MTB Thanks for your reply dude. Well, they do say miracles happen around Christmas. A few days after after watching your vid, I found a Transition dealer about an hour's drive from home who had just received a deep sea green GX build in my size (L). They had ordered it for another customer and it took 11 months from placing the order with Transition to the bike arriving in-store. By that time though, the original customer had got fed up with waiting and bought a Revel Ranger. I'm going to pick up the bike this Friday. Absolutely stoked!

    Another kick ass video. Really vibin’ with the color. Appreciate your honest review of the bike. Can’t wait for the head 2 head 2 head review video.

      I was a bit concerned how it'd handle my weight. I was 220lbs when I first received it and had no issues. The wheels on this build do have some noticeable flex but frame is solid. I'm still loving the bike at 200lbs 😉. Thanks for watching

    hmmmm... I think the YT Izzo 130mm probably the better all rounder......but then again; I think the META TR Commencal with 150mm travel front and back a better option again :-)

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Izzo's 130mm travel for sure leans towards more capability but the Spur's geo feels a touch more aggressive. The Meta TR is really in another class as neither can keep up on the downs but then again the TR can't keep up on the ups. All great bikes though....love them all lol.

    Another solid review! How does this compare to the Izzo. I just ordered an Izzo blaze and I'm guessing it'll be closer to the ripley than this. Just curious what your thoughts were in terms of overall climbing and descending between the 3.

    Great video! New subscriber so thanks so much for the content. Wondering about the 175mm cranks on this bike with the low bottom bracket. I have my spur coming in may and I'm tempted to change out the cranks to 170mm. I have a fair amount of rocky rooty technical terrain to contend with and some reviewers and owners have suggested this might be the only spec change they would make to the X01 build I purchase, Any comments on that would be much appreciated. Looking forward to the comparisons to the Izzo and the Ripmo AF. Thanks again for the awesome content.

      Thank you Brian for subscribing, we truly appreciate your support! I have not noticed any excessive pedal strikes with this bike as opposed to others. I would say that I have changed other bikes from 175mm to 170mm and noticed a minimal change. In our head to head I will keep an eye on this and include any issues in the comparison.

      @@REB4444 I have 175's on my 2015 Rocky Mountain Thundebolt. The bottom bracket is much higher on that bike as I have it overforked at 140mm I'll see how I fair with the 175's. It won't be horrible, but i have 170's on order just in case i find it to be unmanageable for some reason. Just have to much time to overthink it all as I'm expected to get it in May. Ordered in August of last year...

    Great initial video! Do you feel the Spur climbed as well as the Ripley AF? It sounds like the AF was better in the technical downhill?

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's really hard to say right now as once I get a bike I ride it more so I am excited to do the back to back to back. I will say the 35mm internal width rims give an advantage as far as traction and adding a bit of suppleness.

    • @lazylearner967
      @lazylearner967 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StraightLine_MTB and for me, I don't like the 35mm wheels. For a trail bike I feel they are overkill. Like you, I did change out the stock Assegai tires. I still went with 2.6's but wished I went with a 2.35. I have only really had 1 dirt ride on the AF, and it snows, then we have to wait for a couple of weeks for it to melt. In another month we should be able to ride more often. I plan to demo a Spur in 6-8 weeks once things melt out. I am on the wait list for the Spur, but this Ripley AF might be better in a lot of ways.

    • @lazylearner967
      @lazylearner967 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One thing I will add about the Ripley AF, is how active the rear suspension is on the climbs when going over bumps and rocks. Yet it is super firm and planted and didn't have any noticeable BOB. It's like it knew when to be active but firmed right up when it was supposed to. Seemed to be REALLY efficient, and downright incredible. I need to put it through the wringer. Unfortunately all bikes are as rare to find as Santa Claus right now. I am impressed that you found both the Spur and the Sentinel! You must be living right!

      @StraightLine_MTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lazylearner967 The 35mm wheels are unique on this bike for sure. I will be swapping between 30mm and 35mm internal width wheels for our full review of the AF. The AF does climb really well and has a unique feel as you said. Moves when it should and is efficient in the right spots. We are trying to get great bikes in for review for our subscribers and usually have been snagging whatever we can find but the Spur and Sentinel popped up and those are 2 I really wanted.

      @@jt3366 I have 29mm rims and I feel a 2.35 fits that application perfect. Not sure how a 2.35 would do on these beefy 35mm's. I don't have a spare rim set. Let me know what you end up doing, I would be interested in hearing how a 2.35 tire rides on these Ibis wheels!

      Thank you! I'm half an inch taller than you and large feels good. I'd say if you want even more nimble and playfulness then you could go medium but you'd loose a bit of composure on the descent.
