Tip-toe into the pitch-black lair beneath Sleeping Beauty Castle to discover a very special fairytale creature. Amongst the craggy rocks and dripping water lies a defeated dragon, chained and sleeping - but easily awoken!
This is one fantastical legend that isn't looking for a happily ever after. A huge, monstrous Audio-Animatronic like none you've ever seen before, masterfully hidden under the pleasant green hill to the left of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant.
The dragon Maleficent is entirely unique to Disneyland Paris and was, at the park's opening, the largest Audio Animatronic ever made. Why doesn't she look like Maleficent in the animated film? Walt Disney Imagineering took their designs for the entire Castle right back to Medieval illustrations and tapestries, creating an experience that feels entirely real yet entirely make-believe...

when i was young, (about 6 years old) my mom, dad and me went down to see her, when we got there i got so scared of her that i hid behind my mom, my dad found it funny and thought he was funny by shouting to the dragon to wake up. now, being 18 and going back this summer, i cant wait to see her again and wake her up myself!
I LOVE the animatronic!
I've only been to Sleeping Beauty's castle in California! gonna go to all of them eventually! I know you can stay in the Cali one, I don't know to much about it, but you can also stay in the New Orleans Room. I believe one of them was Walt Disney's Room for a time.
no, its Merlin's dragon. The dragon doesnt resemble Maleficent at all. It looks like Merlin's Dragon. If it was Maleficent, don't you think that disney would have made an effort to make it look like her instead of Merlin's Dragon? And just fyi, theres also a dragon under the castle in Disney Tokyo and that castle is Cinderella's Castle which the movie didnt have any dragons.
it's actually Merlin's dragon. It's based off the lure for dragons of that time period. Maleficent died in the movie so it wouldn't make any sense to have her down there. c:
@PandoraParanorma Yes, it's still around.
This is actually Merlin's dragon. Since Maleficent died in the movie, it would be poor continuity. They actually wanted to put Maleficent dragon skeleton in the dungeon but scrapped it and put Merlin's dragon instead.
@PandoraParanorma yes it does :3
No it's definitely not Merlin's, it's under Sleeping Beauty's castle so why would it be Merlin's dragon? Plus it's at a theme park, so continuity doesn't really matter xD
I was about 7or 8 when I went to Disneyland,and I went in the dragons cave,I was terrifed:'L!ahaha
@Nascarrrrrrfan next to the fact that she's in an animated cycle, so you cant really wake her up, I'd say go for it XD
j'ai mit la meme videooooo enfin presque
when I was little I was afraid of the dragon, luckily my father knows how to reassure me, he said he was attached and that he would protect me if anything happened, I was so naive of the percentage of danger if it were true💀
seriously, disney paris gets this, and all the original has is murphy the fail dragon....
At 1:41 it says Merlin
i want to go to disney paris.....walk into this dragon lair.....amd just yell fus ro dah, i dont care how stupid i look, i just have to do it now

Well then. That's kind of stupid but whatev. And I find it weird that it's Merlin's dragon yet the plaque-thing outside the cave has Maleficent's horns on it. Whoever planned that is dumb :/
