Best explanation ever! Thank you, Marc! I think it will be also great to demonstrate - in a 100% safe manner, of course - typical beginner mistakes and the effects they induce in the wing, like inducing a frontal, symmetrical or asymmetrical, pulling on the wrong brakes inducing a wrong roll. Or tips on how to untangle the lines. Great channel! 👍💪👍Keep these awesome videos coming!🙏

Not only are you showing how to do everything correctly while explaining it very concisely, all the little tipps and tricks you insert here and there are also amazingly useful. I can only imagine how much work this all must have been, so thank you very much for your dedication to teaching and the sport. I am a complete beginner. Just recently started ground handling at the beach after watching this terrific video and following Marks suggestions. This video has been responsible for getting my training wing up into the air above my head this afternoon (after spending a fair bit of time building a wall and playing with brakes and risers as Mark suggests) - much to my surprise - admittedly after a little fluffing about and pulling the wrong riser/brake numerous times! So great to see my wing overhead and actually flying. I don't think I've come across a clearer, more detailed video for a raw beginner - and I've watched many. So a a HUGE thank you Mark and Sian from this trainee PG pilot for literally getting my wing into the air! Thank you both for your great work with these super clear videos.
I am about to start my paramotoring training and this video has fantastic tips and tutorials for ground handling, especially the "reverse launch". So simple yet not confusing way of going about it. Can't wait to get my wing and start practicing ground handling.

I have seen many videos but I certainly can say that you both have won me over. Keep motivating us newbies and hope to learn more from you. Regards from Australia
After watching this, I'm going back to wing-facing hook in. I was taught the "back to the wing/over the shoulder hook-in" method and both will work, but one reduces risk of being caught by surprise and getting dragged........thank you for all of these wonderfully clear instructional vids Marc.
You are a pedagogic’s master Marc! Decompose the movement and repeat it again and again is a fine art. You are showing to me what i spended so many time to descover by myself and to be skilled. Bravo for your nice videos and thank you! Pascal
Really good tip for the ground roll control. That's something I often would get mixed up in my head and the way you explain it makes it really easy, move to the right pull to the right
Man! I wish I watched this a long time ago. I struggled to understand how to grab the brakes getting into the reverse launch configuration with the result being a clean config when I spin around. No instructor could understand my concern. They just basically gave me the attitude to just grab the damn things and stop overthinking it! Now I feel more confident and safe.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a clear and professional way. Would be happy to be your student, I am starting now with this amazing sport.
Very clear, excellent video! You are a good man! Suggestion: assuming strong wind conditions…when going to take “an hour break”, perhaps it would be a good practice to put the other tip of the wing under the other tip (the one you already had folded in your video) and the harness on top of both of them, in case the strong wind changes direction during your brake. I started to see your videos today and am a new subscriber. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you very much ! Your explanations are very clear (the : go to you wing where it rolls and break with the same arm is very intuitive!), and I like that you repeat the important parts - as a beginner I often struggle to remember all these new informations, and my instructors seem to think that once or twice are enough ;) You just got a new subscriber from Switzerland !

There is no simple way at looking at just one weather site really, I check 4 or 5 each day for my students and try to build a picture myself for the following day. Were also lucky to have a weather stn on top of one of our best hills that gives wind speed and direction with a camera too. A big thing to remember is most weather sites wind speed is at sea level NOT hill level so you need to work out the height of your hill and get some practise in knowing how much to add to the forecast, ie when my local area forecasts say 10mph I double it and this is roughly what it will be on the hill top.

Thanks very much for the great videos. I've enjoyed watching them. Its been hard finding nearby instructors so I find myself mostly ground handling every day instead of flying. I know that will pay off down the road anyway. The other day, I was ground handling with fairly strong gusty winds. I was doing pretty well facing forwards and doing wingtip touches and recoveries. But a couple of times, I felt the wing drop back some, I released all brake pressure completely, but I still got dragged backwards. Any troubleshooting ideas to prevent this?
Thanks tom, it's so hard to say without seeing the situation buddy but your spot saying it will pay off in the end. Ground handling is the key. ps, if the wing is an older wing they do tend to hang back and fall back more than a crispy newer wing so it could be that.
@@leavesleyaviation Thanks for the reply, Marc. I got back out there some and I think I've found the problem. As the wing goes back, it felt to me as though it was a lot further back in the power window than it actually was. So, thinking it was about to drag me backwards into the street, I pulled the brakes to kill the wing, but that just pulled it further down into the power window and would really start pulling me backwards. Whereas, in reality, the wing hadn't really dropped that far back and what I needed to do was really lean forward and get as much weight in my chest as possible, and perhaps let the wing pick me up a little and "pendulum" backwards under the wing. It was more my perception that the wing was further back than it was, and my reaction to it was probably helping to make that my actual situation. Thought I'd share my self-assessment as it might help someone else.
