    Perfect lesson for us nonnative speakers. Those verbs of motions are linked to things of natural dailylife but can also can be used to form frases or used in figurative ways, which can take like thousands of forms and can indicate subtle differences of meanings. These kinds of lessions make us know the exact direct meaning of those verbs, which will help us understand other derivative meanings. WONDERFUL LESSION. THANKS. I hope there be more of vedios like this.

    Actually, as a veteran I can say that in discussing the word march, what you were doing is called "marching in place" i.e. you were not moving forward. When you march, you do move forward.

  • @Archeryring

    Good put. This is the way a foreign language should be tought before moving on to abstract topics.
    As for abstract words it would be a hard time to convey a meaning nevertheless it is possible imo. For example: "to cite". I imagine a messanger from medievial times who comes up to your smallholding with an [official] paper wherein there is a list of items for him to announce one by one.
    In this way we cover the following meanings for the verb "to cite":
    1) to refer to smth
    2) to quote
    3) to iterate
    4) to be called to a court
    5) to give smth a move
    PS Another method that I figured out helps a lot in memorizing things is linking words grouping them in sense of some action toward this object like this:
    impel->compel->propel->repel->dispel
    or
    attain -> sustain -> maintain -> retain -> detain
