There is nothing wrong with getting a dog from a reputable breeder. Some people need to know the specific nature of the breed they are bringing into their home. I have two rescue pups myself, but let's face it, they are a genetic crap shoot. If I had young kids, I would be inclined to go with an AKC-registered puppy.

Our cat done the same, from the rescue shelter out of the cage in our
lounge and straight onto my knee wouldn’t move.
She was seven and we had her another seven.
All black, followed me everywhere, slept outside my bedroom door
In the day when I was on the night shift.

We adopted a chiwawa. She was about 6 years old. She had behavior issues like excessive barking, clawing at people's legs, and biting. But after giving her consistent love and guidance, she has become the most loving kind pet. I think once she figured out she had a permanent loving home she settled in.

Labrador Retrievers are simply the best, imo! But, ANY shelter/rescue dog who shows an interest in you is going to make for a wonderful companion!🤗
I adopted a Black Lab like this, slightly taller. She was my world, my angel. She ended up rehabilitating so many dogs after that.
I found a stray, skinny, dehydrated and tick Infested beautiful 8 week old black lab puppy on my irrigation burn many years ago. She was my baby for 13 years snd has been gone for almost as many and I still cry when I think about her. Her name was Allie.
@@jacquelineaslan8403 Thank you for sharing this. Mine was named Bailey, I got her from a local shelter and I know exactly what you mean. I had her for 10 years, only 10 years. The most gentle and kind dog which I lost in 2010, but still cry when I think about her. They're with us for such a short time.
I have 4 rescues that came to me. I don’t see how anyone goes into a rescue and leaves with one and the rest are left behind. My heart would break.
This video warmed my heart. Seiko looks just like my Sheba. She died years ago. I miss her to this day. Sheba gave the best hugs too.

So sweet and so touching. Adopt, don't buy. Especially adopt the older animals so many people don't want. They are sweet and deserve love at the end of their lives.
I agree. I have had a number of geriatric dogs who originally belonged to people who either died or were too ill to look after them. My oldest labrador is now reaching the stage of sniffing endlessly at spots along the way. I have learned to give her the time and mooch along with her.
I'm buying my next one, because a) don't tell me what to do, and b) if no one buys them, they end up in the shelter too.

My rescue took three months to settle in. It was easy at first, but he turned out to be the most loving GS/Siberian Husky ever. After three months of challenges, he would follow commands via sign language and whispers. He was a blessing. I had him for seven wonderful years, and then we lost him to cancer. Best decision I ever made was adopting my beautiful boy. xoxo

So beautiful to see such joy and love in a very cold and crazy world. I lost my dog almost 3 months ago and I'm still crying everytime I think of her and realize how much I miss her. I only had her for 7 short years, but they were the best and happiest years of my life and I'm almost 72. I would so love to adopt another dog, but I just can't afford the adoption fees. Best to you and your beautiful new love. I know you'll never regret adopting your dog.

My parents adopted a rescue border collie, on the journey home the dog bit my mothers on the face, we all thought what a mistake and seriously considered taking him back, but he turned out to be one of the best dogs our family have ever had.

What? Black is just about the most popular colour of dog in the world, together with brown. It may be somewhat different when they're in an animal shelter, but still... they are most definitely not overlooked.
@shoelacedonkey where I live, Washington DC, black dogs are the most overlooked in shelters; especially if they're mixed breed, bully breed or Chihuahua, they are often euthanized .

I highly recommend adopting a dog or cat or both. We have had adopted dogs and cats for 25+ years. I have 2 sound asleep under my legs/desk right now. I could not imagine not having my life without a rescue animal. Shalom

i adopted a basset/pittie mix, because he was due to be put down, so on his final call, i went and got him. he growled at me, didn't want to look at me at all. i got him anyway thinking i could find him a home somewhere. they got him fixed, and the day he came home he hugged me for about 45 minutes. he hasn't left my side since. he's the sweetest. and gives the best hugs. he loves the cats, the ducks, the chickens, wild critters. he is the best. it did take a few months for him to get settled in, but he knew he had been rescued and was great from day 1.

I rescued two black labs in my life but at different times. Both lived long lives, each to 17 years old. My last one passed last year which broke my heart badly. I would so love to rescue just one more.

Labs are THE best dogs. My lab/aussie mix settled right in straightaway, too. I highly recommend adopting a 2 year old. Still young and full of energy, but past the puppy chewing stage.

I would love to find a service dog and companion similar in nature to Seiko to adopt. Beautiful dog and incredibly sweet 🐾❤ In 2022, I lost my wonderful dog Harley who was over 15 years old. They are family...Adoption is such a great thing because there are so many animals that need loving homes. 🏡

I adopted a blue staffie last year he sleeps in my bed follows me everywhere and has so many facial expressions to tell me if he wants dinner etc but my favourite is when I watch a movie he cuddles into me and snores!!! Love goes to seiko❤ you are a beautiful doggie good luck with being a service dog❤
