Great video. Im in a 46 Next boot and had the exact same problem. I thought it felt strange on the 243 w/ 110's and realized when I switched to my longer 4x80 how bad it was. The narrowing of the boot toward the heel was absolutely ridiculous. Never have I had such pain (closer to my ankle) in a boot. ever. It took a very long time with a heat gun to get a proper fit. Between putting a frame on that is just too small and the time and effort it took to make the boot comfortable, is worth NOT recommending to anyone with bigger feet. The price point is not crazy but you should still get something more quality. The boot is 4 out 10 straight out of the box and a 7 - 8 out of 10 after reworking and putting on different frames, very disappointing.
Hi mate, only now I saw your comment 🙄 I agree with it. Powerslide nexts do not feel as a high quality skate at all. And I am at the point where I would replace my “big wheel skates” to something else, but I am not sure at all what skates that would be. I do not want to go through another pair of skates and their fit issues etc 🙄
@@VandKoala That makes sense. Break in with any boot is always the worst part. Im in the same boat. Every time I mention my issues with powerslide Next's somewhere people always recommend Seba FR1's. I wont be able to switch anytime soon but have always heard Seba is more accommodating to the "bigger footed". They will be my next big wheel boot if I somehow manage to run my Next's into the ground...one day. Thanks for the great content.
Kyle haha I thought of the seba FRs when typing the comment. If they would at least have the trinity mount I would just get them to try... the problem is that I will need to invest in all of the frames again🙄 Cheers mate!
I love both 4x90 and 3x110. I skate both to avoid overuse injuries. The shorter 3x110 taxes my lower back, but it is so fun to skate fast until the back starts screaming. The 4x90 is not as fun but is still fun and stable. The stability taxes my back less. I also get a better workout because I have to work harder to maintain my speed. My legs definitely feel more sore with the 4x90 than the 3x110. I do miss the mobility of my tri skates while I am on the 4x90.
Really enjoyed this video. Lovely slides. Im getting into urban skating after just doing recreational straight line skating. Ive recently bought Powerslide Swell Triple Black 110mm and i truly love them. Strange how similar they feel to my Powerslide Ultron 4x90mm (in my opinion). I'll be using the triskates mainly but won't forget about the Ultron for more tricky tricks lol (when i pluck up the courage to try more advanced stuff). I'll be keeping an eye on your content. Keep up the great work :)
Thanks Go. Preet :) I found your comment only now as youtube is not always providing the notifications about the comments... I found out that my preferred setup is changing as the experience is growing. But what is the most important is to have fun!
Nice skating and great job on the editing! I have PS Kaze and plan to test the Trinity 4x90 frame with Rollerblade Hydrogen wheels. Keep working on the slides, I have a difficult time commiting on my slides!!
Thanks Jason! Commiting on slides is easier if you try learning some grinds on aggressive skates in my opinion :) and pads help as well :) I will keep learning as well, thanks mate! I love 4x90 so much! Hydrogens are maybe a bit sticky, but possible to slide :)
I just got this skate and have the same problem with the pressure point around the 45 degree strap. It helped a little when I unlaced the boot... so I have the top three eyelets unlaced and just laced it up to the ankle part of the liners (instead of the plastic boot)
I have skated my Next boots for about 30 hours now. I love them however they give me the same pressure points. It’s so bad I have to take a week off skating to heal my feet! I’m going to try your heat gun method and hopefully that will fix the problem. Thank you!
emagdnim128 Seems like many people struggle with it. It damaged the look of my skates a bit, but I do not regret doing it. Now at least I can ride them for hours without pain. Let me know how it works out.
Nice video and review! I kind of wish I had gotten Next 110mm instead of my Kaze 110. The Kaze just do not feel stiff enough for that high of a ride height. But hearing you had width problems makes me nervous about the NEXT because my feet are kind of wide. I think I should try a 4 wheel frame on my Kaze. I'd be fine with the 243mm 4x80 because I wear a 43/44 and I think being lower to the ground would make me enjoy my Kaze much more. And I agree, free or urban skating is so much fun! But it's always good to keep practicing aggressive because it seems like the best freeskaters are either current or former aggressive skaters!
I doubt if Nexts are more narrow than Kaze? But I have never tried Kazes, so I am not sure :) They were too narrow for me just in one place. And I did not consider my feet as wide before I got these skates. I wear all the shoes size 44. None of my previous skates were too narrow. Now regarding the frame length, I can ride 4x80 or 3x110 and basically do everything on them. But I knew in my mind that something is missing. I did not get the same feeling from these frames as "back in the day". They are even shorter than all of my aggressive frames. When I just got the 4x90 it felt amazing right away. I can't tell you how much better it is :) I rotate wheels 1-1 2-2 3-3 4-4, so natural rocker develops and they are very maneuvrable, while extremely stable. I never was an aggressive skater, but it is fun to learn and practice, agree with you :)
@@VandKoala Hey, I did not doubt you can handle 243mm. It makes sense that the bigger your foot, a longer frame will work better for you. I also wonder about trying smaller wheel on a frame meant for bigger wheels. I remember I video from Shaun Unwin on Shop Task that said he rode 90mm wheels on a frame that could take 4x100. It was a Seba frame, not his usual wizard frames. I should try 100mm wheels on my 3 wheel 243mm instead of 110mm. I'm sure the natural rocker on your 4X90mm set up feels great!
Thanks for the comprehensive review and genuine comments. I am going to buy the Next skates, with same size as yours. Could you please measure the width of your feet where you had the pressure point, so that I can compare and imagine if I would also have the same issue? Thank you so much.
Great video, I'm looking to purchase powerslide Next (4x90) or FR fr1-2 (4x90) and I wasn't expecting this(size problem) for Next(especially because they are coming in 2 sizes). I have 10.5 us shoes shize.
I really want a pair of next 100 + 3 but have seen some reviews where they say that they are not so comfortable to wear and ride longer distances in, I wonder how you experience your gray ones, I think that the shoe should feel the same even though you have a different setup with your wheels.
I have the same skates and notice its too narrow in the same spot. I need to wear very thin socks and not tighten the laces that much and that had an improvement but my feet still start to hurt after about an hour of skating. How did you punch out the width using heat gun? I'm considering trying that
Good comment as I never considered frame lengths especially my size being 43/44. Comparisons with other skates' frames were really eye-balling. In fact right after watching, I immediately checked two other brands. It was alertful that their 3x110 frames were about the same, less than 249mm. 3x110 was my upgrade target as road conditions in my area were easily of bricks so bigger wheels were desirable. Initially I was very interested in 'Next' model purely due to its lower center of gravity. (The first impression was unusually down, their front parts looked too similar to old-dated shoes common to middle/high school girls required to wear uniforms. I wasn't concerned with design of style generally.) The middle partof my feet may be wide too. 4x90 will be definitely ideal frame length, not too short like 4x80 or 3x110, and not too long like 4x100. However, 90mm wheels may be rather uncomfortable on brick roads, if more hazard too! 3x125 would be too high dealing with uneven and rotten surface. Thanks again for your insight.
I have recently tried 3x125 for the first time, they definitely roll better, but it is so much more demanding to get them rolling off the start or uphill! I will try them a couple more times and go back to 4x90 I think. They actually work for street and for fitness so well! Still would like to try 4x100 just for fitness at some point 🙄
Oh and do not be over obsessed with that trinity “lower centre of gravity”. I am now switching from one setup to another - I really can’t tell the difference for my skating 🙄 those “points of contact in front” is just a marketing trick. There is no flex in aluminum plate with one tightened bolt either…
I just got mine the other day and they didn’t come with the built in shock absorber. Only the MyFit liner inside the hard shell. No foot pads. Hope they didn’t forget them or something?
That sounds strange? I got something like a plastic footpads with a shock absorber glued under them + there was a thick (4-5mm) hard footpad with wheel-shaped holes underneath those.
@@VandKoala I absolutely love them! To the point that I can't skate any boot with out them. They take a little getting used to as they're not as thick and puffy as other liners but the material is amazing. They do leave extra room so like I said a foot bed under the liner in the boot works great for me.
Dave after first two hours: I think I understoos for the first time what people mean by “responsiveness”. It is when your skate just easily goes where you want it to go :) and I do not have any “painpoints”, but they definitely will need to break-in. I also had to lace the boot laces through them as otherwise they moving in the boot annoyingly. First impressions good-I like them.
Hello! Actually if you want to solve the heel pain pressure point, you can remove the shock absorber which makes your feet flat on the skate! I took mine out and never regretted it 😛
I tried everything man, took out the absorber, the thick pad under the liner, replaced maybe 6 different liners with different shock absorber combinations. It did not help. Even heat shaping the boot only “kinda” solved the issue. Replacing the skate helped :D
@@VandKoala I put an extra shoe lining between inner boot and the lining with the shock absorber. This lifts up my feet out of the pressure zone and solved that problem for me. Greetings, from Mexico!
Nice Video. I like to do city skating but on a fitness level intensity. Now i wonder if i have to sacrifice speed coming from 3x110 switching to 4x90. To be more specific is gaining and holding speed easier on 3x110 compared to 4x90 or vise versa? To be lower to the ground and getting a bit more frame length seems appealing to me but to have less roll and the need to stride more often for the same distance not so much. First of all, I am not a slalom skater, I just have tried some tricks.
It is possible for sure, it just might not be the easiest setup for it. The further from the ground - the more difficult it will be to perform the tricks. Many slalom skaters skate 76s.
Also you really want to have either a rockered frame or at least rockered wheels.
The way to achieve the natural rocker is to only rotate the wheels 180degrees in the same position without changing their position as they wear.
