@fifteenYear In smaller, "county fair" style demo derby, yes driver's usually hit with the back more often than the front to protect the motor. However, in Team Demolition Derby, front-end hits are the vast majority. There are occasional rear-end hits, but only out of necessity or perfect timing.
@5tonjeep the dates are posted on TeamDemo.com. We run once a month May - September at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL Midwest Monsters is just my username, the events are officially named "Team Demolition Derby" thanks!
@exoticg9 No methanol, all big block V8 motors running on 87 octane or higher. Sometimes its the original motor that was with the car, but several cars have custom built race engines.
@TonyODonnell01 No, drivers door hits are not allowed. They do happen, however, whether intentional, accidental, or simply by chance due to a split second decision by a driver. We've had some DQ's in the past and this year for them. Its at the officials discretion to DQ a driver and stop the race.
@apatheticempathy There has been bending of the rules from time to time. Flat out cheaters are usually, and have been, busted in the past. Mainly for illegal car modifications. There really isn't any element during the race a driver can cheat at.
