- This is one of the most beautiful world war II romance movies that i've watched! It took me a while to make this video because I had no Idea what song would fit nicely in it but fortunately I found it!
The movie is based on a novel written by by Irène Némirovsky, a French writer of Ukrainian-Jewish origin. In July 1942, having just completed the first two of the series, Némirovsky was arrested as a Jew and detained at Pithiviers and then Auschwitz, where she was murdered, a victim of the Holocaust. The notebook containing the two novels was preserved by her daughters but not examined until 1998. They were published in a single volume entitled Suite française in 2004.

I guess that the fact that this is kind of a true story back in those time. As relationships like this were happening and they were usually separated by death at the end, makes it so much more emotional! I loved it !
Yeah, 'cause usually women sleeping with the enemy were burnt at the stake by their own people.
The author herself ended up in a concentration camp !! did she know or was she aware of something like this happening when the German army invaded ?? This story apparently was kept locked up in a suitcase for many years before her daughter found it…

He was so gentle and loving. I love this movie so much. Sadly it is more common than not for men to be forced into the military at war and they have to do what they are told even if they disagree or don’t want to. It’s a cruel world, but little stories like this shows how poweful love is even amidst chaos and despair.

This movie was based on a book that was left unfinished after the writer was killed in a concentration camp during world War 2. Along with the book were also published notes of the writer, in which she declared that she didn't intend for Lucile and Bruno to end up together after all. This made me rewatch the movie under a whole different perspective. Still, heartbreaking

Jenny K, the actor has made many movies in US, UK, Belgium and France. In 2022, he has more work than he can handle. A very intelligent young man who speaks Dutch and French (his parents) and perfect English. His father was a great actor in Antwerp.
I can highly recommend from him the "Kursk" and "A Little Chaos" movies.
I recommend that you watch him in Rust and Bone, Bullhead, Far From the Madding Crowd, Disorder.. he's a major actor but not very well known in Hollywood, which is a pity.. I'm in love with him LOL

My goodness! This movie gave me an excruciating pain that I've never felt from my entire life watching sad tragic lovestory in a movie. Why didn't this two ended up in the end?! Why?! To sum it up, the actors were brilliant and exquisite in playing their roles as Bruno and Lucille.

Omg the most gut wrenching movie I have ever seen. I wish she had at least hugged him in the end. I loved the scene when she went to ask him for the pass to leave the country.
It is a sad and yet beautiful story. She is able to pull the good out of him in a time when so much hatred and pain surrounds them both. She sees what others don't and loves him for it. He is able to lift the burden of loneliness, fear, and helplessness from her. What he gives her is courage; opportunity of what is worth fighting for and loves' honesty. The story is so beautifully detailed in this song and video.

@@vanessanasle20 Je viens de le visionner, et j'étais complètement bouleversée, en pleurs devant mon écran...L'amour entre Lucille et Bruno est tellement fort...Matthias a une grande force d'interprétation, il dit tout avec ses yeux!!! Michelle était l'actrice qu'il fallait, tout en retenue...les émotions reviennent rien qu'en en parlant......

Quedó perfecta la canción con la historia. Un gran amor en tiempos de guerra. El actor es increíble, unos ojos que transmiten todo lo que siente y la actriz una delicadeza para interpretar su papel. Nos demuestran lo que es ir enamorándose poco a poco de una persona. Gran película, una joya del cine! Definitivamente una de mis favoritas.

I always love this version and the song. I have watched this movie a couple of times, I love the Piono tune so much, the beautiful expression of love without much spoken words. This movie will always have a special place in my heart due to the Hero character in uniform reminding me of some personal memories.
Ohhhh my God. I discovered this movie from searching, and then I watched the trailer which gave me chills, no lie. I've seen this movie 5 times since then and it is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Just bittersweet. The soundtrack is also amazing. If anyone has any recommendations for movies or shows like this, please let me know.
Anyway, this video is perfect, plus Matthias is bloody gorgeous 🥵.

I recommend you Le silence de la mer, it's another bittersweet but I think you're going to love it, it's such a different love, it's on TH-cam
Is not a show like this, but if you liked Matthias I think you would like "Far from the Madding Crowd". He's impressive, like always, in this adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel and is the one with a good ending through this author.

The majority of ww2 movies have a sad heartbreaking end, it's not by chance or because all the movies stories were true, it's simply to transfer how life truely was at that horrible period.

Loved the movie love Matthias he’s got something about him that’s definite star quality ….this film was based on the book written by Irene Nemirovsky who was a Ukrainian Jew imprisoned in Auschwitz where she died at the age of 39. This was part of many unfinished writings but was finally published in 2004 and brought to the screen. I read her biography beautiful but sad story

He is so sencere, passionfull and humble. This forbidden feelings between two, their secret make him more attractive and this beautifull uniform makes him so sexy. It's a pitty that she didn't took a chance to be happy with him even this short time given them to be together. She will always regret about that. And war was over and people didn't care about her. They had their own sorrow.

This story really intrigued me so I looked it up on Amazon to find the book. I recognised the front cover. I have a guest room with a few shelves of books….there it was. A beautiful hard back cover of Suite Francaise . Brand new….I mean I think I bought it last year in a book shop, but didn’t read it….well I’m going to now! Thank you 🙏
This is literally one if my favorite movies. The only reason i didnt break down in sobs at the ending, is because i nade up my own story, continuing the movie, and DEFINITELY didn't make him die like in the book
I think Bruno made Lucille dance with him in order to connect with each other, since it was impossible for them to go out on a conventional ''date'' as they did at that time (plus they were married lol), but the scene is very well done, especially how Bruno tilts his face slowly to be closer to her. min 1:43

I highly recommand it ! Its trandlslated in so many languages!
I read it in English, Frensh & German and it touches you evey time in so many ways!

"Le silence de la mer" 2004(?) is a French film based on the same story. Some characters are different; the young woman lives with her grandfather... Its fabulous. This version, Suite Française, is beautiful too.
