Done a lot of scoring at the print shop. Found best item for me is the crochet needle. Item to use in a pinch in a office is the loop of black binder clips. Mistake that often happens for beginners is not to use enough pressure. Also score the side opposite of the fold direction. Paper has grain direction. Test the stock going with and against the grain to see which has better results.
thank you for taking the trouble to post this comment - you have been most helpful . - i'm making some cards up , just a 100 , but what would be a custom job at the print shop otherwise > 500 min etc . Thanks .
I wanted to send my sister a birthday card, and I need to fold it. I was afraid that I would ruin it 😅 But now, after watching this video, I'm gaining confidence. Thanks a lot!
Thank you, this is really helpful, i designed some low-budget folds for marketing use, and you have helped me to make the folds look professional, thank you so much!
I really admire the ease with which you do this. Even though I am using a ruler and all seems to be lined up perfectly straight when I make the line, it comes out with the corners not matching. I've tried over a dozen times now and they all come out a little crooked. Very frustrating.
Helpful. Love the two-sized ballpoint ended tool. One tip: Have the camera placed higher so that we can better see the (entire) tool in your hand from above. :)
I realize this is a very old video but wanted to ask if you glued two sheets together (because you wanted a 4pp printed on both sides) would this method of scoring still work or would the pages bow / curl outwards as they've been doing when I've used a scalpel to score. Thanks a lot!
@@shooraynerdrawing the query was whether this method might make a difference to scalpel scoring if pages were glued. For the benefits of anyone interested - after further experiments scoring by this method (a dull point rather than a scalpel) on both sides helps the most but the glue tension still creates some warp. Thanks for replying. (Now I have answered my own question).
Hi, I'm afraid I'm not sure what that is. I think anything that is laminated is going to be difficult as you are stretching the outside and squeezing the inside and it is quite a tough material.
Shoo Rayner I had custom party favor boxes that I designed for my daughter birthday party printed on heavy cars stock. Because of the size I had to send them to printer. I'm trying to figure out the best way to scor and fold the boxes. This was great! I have one of those ball tools already! Thank you and I didn't have to buy anything special!

Thanks for the tip!
Great video!! Out of all the methods you used which would you high recommend to reduce cracks or possible tearing or weakening of the paper
Don't press too hard and don't use fibrous card or too thick card.

Do you have any tips for folding laminated card like for mortuary cards

tomorrow's video might be of interest!
I just match both corners and then fold. afterwards, I use a scissor or end of a ruler to run through the fold. it comes out neatly.
