Long time Squeeze fan. Love Glenn voice and blend with Chris. I had never seen a early video with Glenn dressed like a clown with clown hair. I am very glad that I only heard him at this stage. I'm sure he might laugh to look back on the video as well. Jools Holland, Paul Carrack were missed after this version of Squeeze. I did see Jools at a small night club in Seattle in the 80's. Great entertainer, blew me away.
I saw this tour on Saturday, September 27, 1985 at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, Cal. The Hooters were the opening band. What a great show that was!
Fabulous show. Always love hearing "Love's Crashing Waves," a longtime favourite of mine from the Difford & Tilbrook "solo" album. And Keith and Gilson are killing it here. Love Keith's biting tone on "In Quintessence."

I saw them on the UK part of this tour 6-16 October 1985, at the Liverpool Royal Court theatre on 12 October. We bumped into Glenn Tilbrook in the afternoon outside the theatre, he stopped and chatted to us, said he was taking a look around the city. I got their autographs on a Squeeze flyer later. Jools wore a suit with piano keys embroidered down the sides as I remember!
Trying to find live "Cosi" era stuff is impossible so thank you for this. Being their most over produced album the songs were tough to pull off live but it's still great to see. Cosi fan and ArgyBargy were always my favorites so this is such a great find. I even snatched up an original English version of Cosi on cd years ago with the extended mixes but was never able to track down a show from that time. This is truly a rare gem. Thanks again for posting!
+steve bertram great group one of the most under rated bands. They are so tongue in cheek extraordinary insightful bands ever. Music, creativity whit , sarcastic, mean, dynamic. I do not know what to think genius or just bitter. life throws us so many curves you have to be an athlete to survive.
What a performance! I have to say, several of the Cosi Fan tunes surpass the album versions. By Your Side is astoundingly good, Keith just kills the bass lines on that one.
This must've been my very first Jools Holland experience! I remember recording his band introduction off the radio on that night just because of his weird-sounding voice 😆 This also was my first time of actually hearing Squeeze's music, after having known them by name already for several years 🙂 *Edit:* Eek! I can actually understand now what Jools was saying! 🙈
Thars an old school mullet!!! Fools Face in LA switched it up to "the fools tail" remember... jimmy Frinks band from springfield missouri... member!?! Love charm school too!!! ~barflySue theWildType!!!
I think Keiths playing on Cosi is one of the highlights of the whole album. Chris and Glen really let him have the spotlight on those tunes and he ran with it. Of course the meshing of their guitar lines with that killer fretless bass works so beautifully throughout the whole album. Those tunes sound amazing live. Add in Jool's iconic lines and solos as well as Gilson's rock steady and strong drumming and you had magic. I think Cosi is a massively underrated 80s album, it's so of it's era but holds up well, I listen to it weekly today. Most people who know a few Squeeze tunes only know their hits but nothing from this masterpiece.
Thanks!! Cosi doesn't get the respect it deserves. Over-produced? Yep. Strongest melodies since East Side Story and great dovetail from Difford & Tillbrook "solo" album? Yep. Glenn's hair is whack but Keith's fretless bass lines make up for it!!
I see Jools Holland on piano, but could someone let me know who the second keyboard player was in this gig? I know that Paul Carrack & Jools took turns as the main keys player, and Paul Carrack sang "Tempted" when he was in the band, but I didn't know that they toured with two guys on the keys. Thanks!
C'est en effet Paul Carrack qui le chante dans la version studio (il a été membre du groupe pendant une courte période et a participé à l'enregistrement de l'album 'East Side Story').
Bassist is primo.
The band should've released this performance as a live record - it's spectacular.

One of the top bands ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a singer Glenn is...
Squeeze is a huge treasure trove of talent and wit. Listen to it all.
I saw them on this tour live in NYC... my memory still tells me it's one of the best shows I've been to
Hey steve someone has compromised your squeeze posts notify admid.. i did for you too!!! Thanks for this "SQUEEEZE ME" !!!
Probably the best British popgroup of the end 70's-80's.
Definitely!
Thank you for uploading all of these rarities, Steve!
You’re welcome
One of my all time favorite bands
I love the way Chris danced to the music. He was having fun. Jools was really funny in the interview making his band mates chuckle like I did here! 😊💓
I will add that I'm quite amazed that Glenn was up there with guys in suits.
I guess you cannot deny raw talent.
Fabulous show. Always love hearing "Love's Crashing Waves," a longtime favourite of mine from the Difford & Tilbrook "solo" album.

Brilliant musicians.
On "Hits of the year", Glenn plays a snippet of "Third Stone From The Sun" by Hendrix

STEVE B , YOU ARE DA MAN !!
This video is truly a gem. Thanks for putting it up!!!
Steve, I'm loving all these Squeeze treats!! thanks, very much!

Ever So THOUGHTFUL of you to post and share al of these wonderful treasures for us to enjoy !!!
Kind of an incredible band.
Sound is incredible!!
if you have cauliflowers in your fucking ears
@@danielladdingford2295 It's worth investing in a proper EQ
Glenn's hair! but the supreme Gilson Lavis. The band is so tight. Great performance.
Damn, these guys were/are great!
Thank you!
I love Squeeze!!! I wish they would come to NY!!💃🏾🙏🏿💕
Steve, you are awesome with all your Squeeze vids.
TheFranksantana Thanks!
Agreed!
What a performance! I have to say, several of the Cosi Fan tunes surpass the album versions. By Your Side is astoundingly good, Keith just kills the bass lines on that one.
Starting to see artists release the video of their Rockplast appearances, would be great to see this one get that treatment as well.
Thanks for posting this!

Fantastik musicals. I,like them very much. I,t’s to bad that this year are 2023.
I love how Chris difford still plays that guitar today
This is 🔥🔥🔥! Thanks! ☮️❤️😎!!!
Wow.. great share thank you.. the 3rd song - In Quintessence - so much like - High Fidelity
The ideal set list would be Cosi, Play, Domino (yes I said DOMINO), Ridiculous with a little Argy and East Side and Sweets for the encore !!
Great Recording

That drummer is killing it
Gilson Lavis. Legend.
Despite his hair looking burnt out Glenn looks really good here.
Is that Jon Savannah (Don Snow) on the synths?
No. It’s Andy Metcalf.
@@stevebertram6730 Thank you Steve...I had never seen Andy perform with Squeeze
Now that's how you play bass
Fretless, too! And unusual for an older Rockpalast show to have the bass this clearly audible in the mix! 😀👍

Glenn Tilbrooks hair is the
Same style as the lady interviewing him
Thanks!! Cosi doesn't get the respect it deserves. Over-produced? Yep. Strongest melodies since East Side Story and great dovetail from Difford & Tillbrook "solo" album? Yep. Glenn's hair is whack but Keith's fretless bass lines make up for it!!
Only Gilson Lavis gets the drum bits right at the start of up the junction.

Andy Metcalf is the second keyboard player.
@@stevebertram6730 Awesome! Thank you Steve!👍And kudos to you for posting all these fantastic videos! 👍
You’re welcome!
Glenn's hair is totally preposterous
+Paul Macca flowing Lion mane.lol
He writes all the tunes, sings them, plays all the leads I could care less what his hair looks like!
@Paul McCarthy - I remember watching this live on TV back then and for the first 10 minutes thinking he was a female 😄
Agreed, what was he thinking?
He kept stroking it too
Who was the other keyboard player during this tour?
Andy Metcalf
Was that a Jimi Hendrix riff on Hits Of The Year?
+Tal LeMel I would say YES.
Tal LeMel Glenn is a big Hendrix fan.
Really interesting and funny interview at the end
Based on Glenn Tilbrook’s look he’s keeping his options open in case he gets that call from Judas Priest
Yes!!!!
Somebody take Another Nail from my Heart! awesome stuff
Is this peak Tilbrook hair?
Just saw them in Utah, obsessed like its 1983 lol. Prefer Paul singing Tempted TBH
they got as big as they were going to be
holland jumped at the right time
i would call this their "hippie" phase
Daryl Hall fronting Squeeze.. is this a dream?
Glenn was a lovely looking woman in this era.
What was he thinking?
I actually thought it was a backing singer, until I realised it was Glenn
A Warning for those with epilepsy would be a clever thing to do. i hate that i can't watch this.
Aw, bummer! You have my compassion!
Glas the long hair was short lived haha
I saw.them on this tour at the spectrum in.philadelphia
Opening.act Oingo Boingo.great.show date was a Russian.communist chic.she.loved I
Glen looks like Boy George.
J'ai toujours cru que TEMPTED était chanté par Paul Carrack.
C'est en effet Paul Carrack qui le chante dans la version studio (il a été membre du groupe pendant une courte période et a participé à l'enregistrement de l'album 'East Side Story').
