if u a live in a place where theres snow many months of the yr, a dust bath is a must for your chicken. Never throw out the ash from your fires, mix ash with sand: perfect dust bath.
Great video and very educational. I use a kiddie pool with peat moss. I didn’t know I can also add sand. Thanks for the info. 😃
Have binged through several videos tonight. Great content man. Keep up the great work!
its always a good day when you post a video.
Herbs are a good idea. I’ve put them in the coop. But didn’t think about putting them in the dust bath
river Sand + ❗pure Sulfur❗+ Wood ash
you are welcome :)
i will also recommend the use of paper traps near the perches. it is just folded paper. check it every now and then and you will always know if the mites are there.
I use top soil, sand and DE
thank you
Of course! Thank you for watching!
Just happened across your channel, subbed and binged from the start lol... just wanted to say hi and enjoy your energy and enthusiasm..look forward to seeing where your homesteading journey takes you
Thank you! I very much appreciate all of the positive feedback.
Can you please tell me what you covered your chicken run with? What is that white cover and where did you buy it, thank you for all your great videos. God bless you and your family from Wyoming. 🤠
It is a heavy-duty tarp with bungees from tractor supply.
I couldn’t find the Earthworks sulfur, could you please recommend another?
It goes in and out of stock. I'm not sure why Amazon pulls down the page. That company is the only I know of that sells that kind.
Thanks for the good information. 🐓
I'm glad this was useful!
What kind of chickens do you have? There’s a chicken that visits our yard for a dust bath. She’s like the neighborhood chicken. We have no idea who her owner is but she kinda resembles your chickens. I have been trying to determine her breed but haven’t had any luck.

@@thevaldezfamilyhomestead thanks for your prompt response. 😃
@@calibama6234 of course!
Does anyone know if I can use the wood ash from my pellet grill? It says it's 100% hardwood no binders or fillers....
I have known people who do this. Just not 100% sure how safe it is for the chickens.
I use ash all the time, they love it, throw some dried herbs on top and they will gaurenteed love it
💖💖🙏🙏💖💖
I’ve tried a rubber tub and a small Rubbermaid box for dust baths and my chickens STILL prefer to dig their own.
Now I just make a couple depressions and sprinkle in a little sand and diatomaceous earth they can mix in with Louisiana swamp dirt that they love so much.
Way too complicated bro.
Just mix in DE into your beach sand. Job done
I got you. It's just optional and makes for a great dust bath your chickens will love.
Why do you look like a video game npc😂
Maybe it is AI 🤨
Tbf, i think it's the repeating music that made me think that. Hope you don't take it personally.
@@zacharylavoie364 of course not, actually thought it was funny. Thank you for watching!
