Actually no, Yibo had to audition for the third time befire be was casted as the main lead. It was not as soon as he walked through the doors, did the directors caste him to be Lan Wanji. It was due to his persistence to be a part of the drama! EDIT: Now that I watched the interview of the CQL producer, I got to know that he , physically didn't appear 3 tims for the audition. Instead his photograph was passed on 3 times, before he actually came in for the audition himself. I am very sorry if my comment confused everyone. It had some misinformation, but hope the doubt is cleared!
According to interview that was done, his photo was passed over 3 times. He either sent or performed a song by his favorite singer, the video shows him playing a piano/organ. He might have even came to a screening dressed as the title character.

I think it’s his personal that makes the producer agree to take him to play the Lanwangi.

According to interview that was done, his photo was passed over 3 times. He either sent or performed a song by his favorite singer, the video shows him playing a piano/organ. He might have even came to a screening dressed as the title character.
No he didn't audition for 3 times only his photo was passed over 3 times! When he appeared personally to the audition they chose him! if u watch the cql producer's interview u will know it! Pls don't spread misinformation!!
