I mainly just follow the Powell guys and a couple others. It can't be just skating to keep me interested anymore. I like trick-dump style videos but, I'd much rather watch someone with personality hang out with other cool people and dork around on skateboards. Mixing in a bunch of actually good skateboarding too. It's as close to being in a legit session that I can get without actually being there.
UCSD Urey Hall. I was there in about 97-98ish and we were skating that ledge. Suddenly Rob Dyrdek & Tom Penny appear out of nowhere. Penny proceeds to FS 5-0 and FS 5-0 180 out 1st try. And then switch crook half cab out in about 5 tries. Meanwhile Dyrdek is barely getting on nollie nose slide and making it 2 feet out and completely raging and throwing his board around. It was surreal. Penny bummed a smoke from me commented that us Americans packed our smokes too tight. We chatted what other tricks he should try on the ledge but by the time we finished our smokes Dyrdek had focused his board out of frustration and wanted to leave. The whole session was about 20-30 mins. It was amazing. I BS 5-0’ed it that day and was stoked to get that. It’s a gnarly out ledge. Thought I’d share my one & only Tom Penny interaction I ever had as a San Diego skater in the 90’s.
Great video as always. Can't wait for the Paris Skateboarding events: Team Liam Pace! I recently created on my channel a small tribute to Skateboarding in Gaming using Tony Hawk's/SKATE games, pretty cool if I may say so myself :)
Dan thank you for bringing us with you!! I hope your hard work is paying off, I can’t imagine bothering with filming and editing daily! Keep growing those chops for the stash it would be badass!! The stash is cool though!! Thanks from The east coast NC-WB ! 🤙
FYI, the rail Jon Allie skated wasn’t on campus where Spenser said, it was down the hill near the aquarium. There was a 3 stair that also used to get skated at that spot back in the day.
I'm a tall dude with big feet so I've always liked wider boards with bigger wheels. I ride an Anderson Flight Deck. The first shaped one that isn't symmetrical. The 9" version. But, I ride tall, Paris trucks and 58mm wheels. But, I'm 6'5" and wear a size 14 shoe so, it just feels and looks like a normal board to me. Until one of my buddies tries to ride it. Then it looks comically big on them. I refer to it as my "Man Sized" skateboard. Lol
Yeah that Andy board is perfect for a bigger guy since it has the bigger wheelbase to but the shape helps it respond almost like it was a little bit of a smaller board. I bet that board moves fast on anything with transition
@@DanCorrigan Oh yeah! I'm much older than your average skater but, I can still fly around and carve transition at all my local parks. My bag of tricks just got significantly smaller once I hit my 40s. My knees just won't let me pop and take impact like they used to. But, keep on pushing.
I think the first spot where you weren't sure that looks university-y is Red Square on the University of Washington campus in Seattle. Used to skate there a bunch but they didn't have the rails back then.
0:39 Fresh watermelon. I revealed to my sister that when I put the bread in the pantry I not only place the fresh loaf behind the older loaf, but I also get bread from the older one to eat. She looked at me, and said: "Why would you do that when you have fresh food available? You're always eating the stale shit." Since then every now and then I sneak the fresh food. Shhhhhhhhh. Float on my friends.
It’s hard to watch him skate because he makes everything look so much harder than it is. Even his pushing style is funny looking. Idk if it’s his age or he just lacks style?
That line with the fs half cab nose bigspin was so sick. Be careful of that pre-cut fruit - it comes from fruit that got damaged in-transit, or from packages of fruit too moldy for display, so the risk of food-borne illness is way higher.
mud crab no slide full jab mick flip supa jenny!!!!brap brap!!!brap!BRAP!!!!don't touch me, i have a flea!LOLkeep it reel Catz...Walker Ryan mad jibber jabber sail boat expertise...BRAP!BRAPBRAPBRAP!!!!!!don't touch me; i have a flea!!!

Love that you started putting in the historical clips when you talk about them at the spot.
The only skateboard channel I still watch and will continue to.
Bless you my friend
dan does it better than all the rest of em

Spencer and Dan is always good vibes
Always a fun session with him
@@DanCorrigan yeah it comes across in the video! Seems like a good homie
Dan got that pre cut watermelon money 😂
really like how you put the clips in whenever you find a spot, definitely something to keep up in newer videos
I watch Dan everyday......my wife mimics some of his one liners like "Dude" and tries to sound like Him with her voice LOL
I loved this type of video, different spots, showing tricks from others, and the skating
You are probably the only skater to include riding over a big metal grate as part of your line. Fantastic Sir!
Such a sick line at 7:58, Dan! Really fun and inspiring to watch. Awesome spot.
I remember watching Spencer's how to tre flip tutorial way back when I started skating. Crazy how that memory came back when I saw his face again.
Fun day looking back at some legendary tricks n spots!

Oh yeah I love Liam he rules on and off the skateboard and that’s sick I’ll check it out

Dan. The first clip of the video part you watched is from red square at university of Washington in Seattle.
Decent amount of good spots there
FYI, the rail Jon Allie skated wasn’t on campus where Spenser said, it was down the hill near the aquarium. There was a 3 stair that also used to get skated at that spot back in the day.
Great video as usual, always love to see this side of skating from you Dan.

Ayy thanks Ima try and do my best
Love skatenerd stuff 🤓. It adds context to the spot.
We know that takes more work, but the little inserts of the clips that you are talking about are great addition
The skate reference clip in the corner was great!
That first Walker Ryan clip looks like Balboa Park. And you were definitely at UCSD. Good video bro

You had me at Spencer.
Great tutorial

That is red square right infront of the library, I've skated that spot

I miss San Diego. Jersey born but, spent the first 10-11 years of my life in SD that is where I learned to skate dopest place in Cali imo
Nuzzi totally should've busted out the fingerboard on that mini quarter pipe! 🤣
I graduated from UCSD a few years ago. I miss that school. So many fun little spots
Scientology brought me here
I love the watermelon convo!!

This was excellent.
Buying precut watermelon in a big plastic box is such an american thing
Awesome lines
Edit - "Best line ever filmed"
What the hell is a skateboard ticket anyway? What do they write down? Probably way less common now. Creepy ass government
First part of the 7:58 line was legit!
Oh wow Spencer! Mannnn he’s og TH-cam.

Dude- shut up about the water melon
Low key I hate the phrase low key 😂
“You could do, you could do, you could do.” What is with the new slang of not finishing your sentence? So weird.
What the hell is a skate ticket? I don't think people get those anymore
