    I love it when you play just like J Leonard Jay, and choose the songs, riffs, and tunes HE would choose! I don’t need you to play like anyone else, as some request, or any genre you don’t usually play. Your tasty chord, song, rhythm, and note choices are distinctly…’J Leonard Jay’. And THAT is why I keep coming back to your site! Stay true to yourself !
    Thanks 👍🏻🔥👏🏻!!

    Fantastic demo (as usual). You always do a great job of putting pedals through their expected tests, and then step outside the box, too. For ambient delays: Right now, I'm using a Boss DD-500 into a Mr. Black Supermoon Chrome. I also have an EHX Pitchfork in front of both of them. Throwing that into momentary mode with the pitch set at an octave and either in down or up and down mode against a tape delay emulation on the DD-500 makes some killer swirls.

    I gotta chime in again here because I just bought one of these (found a great deal on a used one), and I'm only beginning to explore but I love it already. The key to entry for me was dialing in that double tracked sound you demonstrate. Wow does that sound great! Playing with the feedback from there gets you some even thicker sounds, and at some point beyond 12:00 it gets really weird, at least with a few of the delay button choices. Thanks Jay for making me buy this!

    I presently use the Earthquaker Devices Afterneath pedal and it allows me to fine tune just about anything I want, I love to make ambient music and it is perfect for that cavernous/cathedral type sound.However, this new Wampler pedal looks like it may also be the new ticket....

    To answer your question: I get ambient with all my pedals but the core ambience would be Catalinbread Talisman (set to heavy on the trails) possibly into EQD Hummingbird definitely into Empress Reverb (lately vie been into setting of the filtered delay+reverb --a really amazing trick is to set the LPF--High knob to quash the delays at full counter-clockwise then add in some clockwise to regain some delays at will...) Anyways--keep up the amazing work.

  • @claudecat

    Wow! Really loved this one, the pedal and the playing (which is always spectacular), even more than usual. I mainly play pretty old school blues stuff (think Charley Patton, Pops Staples, Robert Lockwood, etc.), and lately I've been amazed at how well some of the more extreme reverb pedals work with that. This here pedal sounds great for sure. One of my reverb pedals does similar things, but this does more, in directions I like. I want it!
    PS - Loved "Tracks of My Tears" at the beginning! Such a great song.

    Thanks for asking. At home I use Catalinbread Adineko and Digitech Obscura for EP3 or analog. They are probably too lush and complex for my gigs. Live I use sn AC30c2 with a tiny splash of reverb always on, then I use a Boss Gigi Delay, one subtle generic echo, and for The Bomber by The James Gang a heavy slow clear sound, both tape settings with very little modulation. The Adineko might fog it up, although it is still a beautiful pedal.

    Dude. That thing you did starting at :38 was fracking brilliant. Funky Floyd Disco thing. Yes.
    Edit: Now that I've watched the whole video. Wow, nice job. That was one of the best shows you've done. The riffs were awesome and spot on to show off the pedal. And the pedal. I think maybe you changed my whole game plan.

    Hey young Fella. I've had this pedal for a few years, and I have not used it on a board. Purchased it for my son who plays harmonica. It wasn't his thing, so I just put it on my pedal pile. Recently I began playing in church. I had other boards, but they are set up for Blues Rock. I required a bit more ambience from my tone. Well, I looked on my pile and there it was. I decided to check out some videos, and yours sir, has inspired me. I don't think I would have found that double tracking setting if not for your demo. Thank you emencly. Also, you are one killer Kat on that Tele young Fella. Don't stop!

    I use a TC Hall of Fame on Plate or Mod Mode in combination with a Strymon Timeline on tape or digital/dotted 8th etc.. depends on song, mood and preset (too many options^^) I might change the TC for another reverb..probably a strymon blue sky.

  • @mikes062
    @mikes062 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like to use my buddy's strymon blue sky when I can get him to to let me lol I don't have a reverb yer. I've got an ehx stereo memory man delay that's pretty sweet though and I'd like to get an ehx cathedral, the hold function it's got is awesome! Or maybe the mxr reverb with the expression pedal. I usually throw on my boss ce-3 chorus and use my volume pedal for swells and ambient stuff too.

    I've been using the reverb on my amp(blackstar ht-20 head + blackstar 1x12), my dd-7 and, my buddy's dm-2(waza) to get really cool shoegazey tones. More in vein of Slowdive than MBV type stuff. I use the modulation setting on my dd-7, some setting on the dm-2(don't remember exactly), and then crank the reverb on my amp. The tone from my Tele is the gahdamn icing. When ibcrank the volume on the whole thing I just get lost in it. But i'm seriously considering the Ethereal after watching this demo soooooooooooooo we'll see if anything changes.

      @GuitFishN 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. I should've been more specific. I was asking about the guitar in the beginning segment. I figured it out with some stop-action shots: Yamaha Rev-star. A very cool looking guitar. Any mods (pickup changes) to this one?

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great eye! It's the Japanese Yamaha RSP20CR. The big mod to it is a set of Tone Specific Rock Pickups. Check out the page as I did a video for both the guitar and the pickup. Enjoy!

    Best playing I've heard on demo videos ! Pretty amazing - are you anti-metal/heavier songs ? The NAMM Wampler Dracarys demo you did... the Dracarys was begging for you to play something ... even like Metallica.
    Also, for any drive video you do, could you max out the gain so we can hear the nastiest any drive/dirt pedal gets?
    Keep up the great playing and great demo-ing!
    Nuuuuuuutzzz, crush some lumpia shanghai as a reward !!

    • @JayLeonardJ

      Oh, depends on your needs... the Immerse is definitely incredibly versatile and has more of a reverb focus. The Wampler is a little more direct and has the ability for cool subdivisions. Both are awesome.
