- Norman's discovery of the ominous SS battalion leads the crew to decide to stand their ground and confront the Germans | Buy or rent Fury here: amzo.in/movie/2tq/fury-2014
Last months of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant in the 2nd Armored Division named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank called "Fury" and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

My Uncle was a combat engineer in France. He participated somehow in the D-Day landings, but was later killed July 27th 1944 near Normandy at the head of his platoon. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Valor. RIP Lieutenant Norman Conrad Watkins. He's buried at Colleville-sur-Mer cemetery. Another life, another brave man gone too soon.
I thank your uncle for his ultimate sacrifice against true evil. I pray that he has found peace in the beyond.
I like how Grady starts crying like most humans would do in that situation. Shows the raw side of war and not the macho soldier with no emotions in other movies

If you watch the deleted scene where he tells Norman about his past, you learn he killed his girl and his brother while drunk in a car crash so he has nothing to go home to which is why he wants to die fighting

Hearing the SS singing in the distance then slowly getting louder still gives me the chills
Scary 😮
My grandfather was a loader just like Grady. He never spoke a word about the war to ANYONE (except maybe my grandmother). This movie hits my dad, my uncles, and myself like your wouldn't believe.
My favorite thing about this movie is that the atmosphere makes it feel like an post-apocalyptic horror film more than a ww2 film. It really captures how terrible and depressing being there in that time period was.
I thought the same thing! I feel like their tank crew is one of the last relics of humanity fighting against overwhelming powers, clinging on to hope.
@@chefduke3719 even the way the Americans act in this film feel like survivors of a dystopian society more than soldiers

Incredibly acted scene. The emotions were amazing as were the glassy eyes of Shia.
Best quote of the movie. "It's not what I wanna do but it's what were doin"
Shia is on another level in this movie. How did he not win an Oscar! All of them did amazing, one of the best acting performances
Personally, I think Bernthal is the one who really hit it out of the park.
Its not that special lol
Your right Shia was amazing …..this part alone when he looks at Pitt knowing full well it’s certain death if they stay and fight ……but he still stays with his friend
When Norman says I'm Staying with you" and the music starts changing I cant help but shed a tear.
Shia LaBeouf should have won an Oscar JUST for this scene!
This is pathetic! American style pathetic!

Yea that stare expressed so much. They all knew they were dying there together.
He literally pulled out on his own teeth for the roll saying a guy fighting in the war should have a few missing teeth or at least 1 😂 he’s a legend
The brotherhood of this movie is incredible.
Its FAKE American romantic vision... Zero reality... Zero truth
My sergeant used to joke on deployment about how he would leave me to die if we got overrun. Joked about it multiple times. We used to joke all the time about how each other were going to die gruesome deaths and we would not miss each other.
He ended up saving my life multiple times over those 13 months.
Fury does a fantastic job of showing how men at combat will say the absolute worst things possible to each other, and even be horrible to each other, but will sacrifice themselves in a heartbeat to save your life.

@@owen3721 Who knows?? It's a marching song to keep the troops marching & in good timing. All armies do it. When I was a Ranger at Fort Benning, we sung HEY HEY CAPTAIN JACK, as we marched for miles. @@owen3721the song is called "Teufelslied" but this version is fast
But then the movie would be over real quick. You gotta draw the line with accuracy somewhere if you making a ww2 film, or any film based on history
One thing I disliked about this scene was their lack of obvious preparation. They should have moved all the 30 cal ammunition into the tank, collected any 8mm or 9mm other ammo and some appropriate weapons from the field and cleared a better field of fire. The fact that the main tank cannon also suffered a failure to extract a spent shell during this battle, rendering it useless, was a bit of a stretch too.
Leaving the ammo can on the outside was a weird writing choice.
@@pjny21 Totally agree. Hollywood being hollywood I guess. Take the intel back and call in the arty. Still, there probably were and still are those that value duty over personal survival.

I love stories like this. It reminds me of the 3 Brazilian heroes that refused to surrender when they were outnumbered by a bunch of Nazi soldiers in WW2. The most beautiful part is:
"Grady come on."
Those two won't leave each other.
My father as a mechanic in the Canadian army for over thirty years and the makeup artist in this movie nailed it. The grease and grime that covered their faces from the tank was accurate. Sort of a grey smudging. Such an amazing film.
I don’t understand why they waited for the Germans to get so close. They should have fired a tank round straight down the centre of the German as they advance towards them. Plus opening fire with the 50cal, that would have killed more instead of waiting till they were on top of them.
Hollywood
That’s simple, you would’ve have paid the movie ticket or sat your little ass on that seat to watch the whole thing and enjoy 😂. Who does that, Hollywood!
So you really think they would be marching in a bulk during daylight 😂 keep on gloryfying this bullshit
Let’s put logic into Hollywood movie 😂
I'd assume those panzershrecks would have been more of a pain in the ass if they were allowed to take cover in the treeline. Infantry at close range against an armored position and the element of surprise, I'd assume they would be able to take more of them out.
"No its not what I want to do but it's what we're doing", so many real soldiers hav either said the same or thought it at some point during there service.
Also him saying fvck it before they get ready is so awesome, he knows they most likely won't make it, but fvck it at least he gets to die with his brothers that he loves fighting for a good cause that's something a lot of ppl wish they could do
Imagine how terrifying the German military was
lol there's a difference between bravery and stupidity. For this sergeant to waste his men's lives on a pointless stand, is clearly stupidity. No commander in real life is stupid enough to make this decision. In real life, you value your men's lives, run while you still can, get to friendly territory, call an artillery strike, and live to fight another day. This is poor writing for this movie.
what song were the germans singing
that line reminds me of the beach landings in Saving Private Ryan when someone yells "we're not we're supposed to be" and then someone yells back "no one is where is they're supposed to be!"
The timeline between the Germans being spotted and him running back to the tank and the dialogue and the set up of the german and setting the fires is unrealistic. They would not of had time to do all that. But, great movie.
Yes they would have time to do that

This was March or April of 1945. All the regular Wehrmatch had surrendered by that time or were willing to and about to. Those were the "good guys" who were defending their Country and were misled by propaganda. The only ones left were the radical true believers in Nazism- the SS and Gestapo. This situation is historically accurate. There were other holdouts as well in pockets. The sane ones were surrendering in droves while the insane ones fought a losing battle to the bitter end. It's a tragic story that included Japan, Italy, and others; and continues to this day with radical propaganda.
Shai LaBeouf acting is exceptional .
Great movie by all means
I remember watching this in a veteran hospital with a lot of soldiers . Most of them couldn’t even finished watching this movie they all walked out some where just looking lost probably remembering what happened when they were at war . Pretty heartbreaking

Never seen the movie but YT randomly recommended me some clips to peak my interest.
Those SS units were no joke, they were like the German equivalent of the Japanese. Extremely fanatical and would fight to the death.
Few men hold battalion ,few brave men ,but it was a suicide, they could have returned back to their regiment
Jon bernthals acting in this scene was great. He knew what's staying most likely meant.
That;s a quick and very spirited march.. The men hae high morale.
Honestly, I know there are magnificent ww2 movies but fury touched me the most while it s fictional my favourite movie of all time
Is this the only movie depicting the tank warfare in finer details ?
What I can at least appreciate in this scene, something I think would've been a real moment as well, is that Pitts character Don didn't even attempt to stop Norman from throwing his life away with him. He just accepted that Norman made that choice himself and immediately gave him an order.
they carry so much anti tank guns and it took them 15 min in the fight to remember they have them lol
In real Life the Fight would BE last 2 minutes
Brad Pitt plays it very well. If you look at his eyes when he knows it's SS. He knows he's dead. That happened back then for sure
I love that they're so loud they aren't even worried about people discovering them

Sure the movie wasn’t perfect but scenes like this made it worth while. I love the camaraderie of the crew. The closest thing to a real Fury story would be a Soviet KV-1 that held up a German advance in June of 1941 during the Battle of Raseiniai.

4:02 John Bernthal crying like a baby..is this the Punisher TV show? I can't tell the difference
Wouldn’t it had been better to engage them at a distance? I understand the whole element of surprise but if they had engaged them from a distance they wouldn’t had been surrounded on all sides plus they could’ve just ran away and hid in a pre-made hiding spot after their ammo ran out and lived 🤷♂️
Absolutely! There were so many reasons to engage them at a distance. When you have a 76 mm gun and a tank -- distance is your friend. It's the infantry who wants to close the distance and engage with you at short range with the portable anti-tank weapons of that era. So they essentially gave up their tactical advantage by playing dead and letting the infantry surround them Plus, at distance it would have taken time for the Germans to realize the tank was immobile and maneuver around it. They could have engaged the Germans at a distance -- given them casualties - and then probably safely withdrawn when they started getting closer. The movie was pure fiction.
He only half racked that .50!!
I read somewhere that the germans fought so hard and effectively because of the brothership they felt for eachother in ww2. Many germans reported to fight for their friends in the army. The heads of the army of germany knew this and they let many friendships form in platoons. They sometimes let platoons go back from the frontline when new soldiers joined the platoon so everyone could be friends before they went back to the frontline. In a way the germans fought more out of love than the allied forces did. I think that is quite an interesting thought as we see the germans in ww2 as the bad guys.

One of the best ww2 movies. Though the Tiger scene could've been so much better.
By movie standards it was fine.
If you're looking for "realistic portrayal" you're not looking in the right place, it's not a documentary. In real life the Shermans (especially Fury) would rip the Tiger to shreds at that distance. Or the Tiger would be firing from much, much further away. Would that be interesting from storytelling perspective? No.
All those arm chair experts and historians who love to shit on this movie so much fail to grasp that all historical movies sacrifice some accuracy or realism for entertainment or suspense. Absolutely all. in terms of WW2 historical accuracy Fury is just one level below the top tier stuff like Saving Private Ryan or The Pacific.
