  • I like to use cam walker boots for multiple foot and ankle injuries. It's important to know how to fit the boot properly so that you can still be active but receive the proper immobilization needed. I offer a few tips to make the fitting easier and more effective.

God Bless you and TH-cam! Had the boot put on in the urgent care center, with no instruction at all. Managed to do the basics, but when things started go wrong, WW3 almost broke out with my dad (caregiver). Looked at MANY videos, and thankfully found yours. Huge deal that you started from the beginning, I still had the white strips on! Thanks for going above and beyond to benefit so many!! 🙏🏼

I was supposedly “fitted” last week for one without the air bladder and the person just showed me how to put it on. They did not take the sleeve out or say anything about walking down the stairs. I had to find that out on my own. 😒. Thanks for making this video. I’m going to try and make adjustments on my own.

Great vid Paul. I don’t know why you don’t come up on the first page. The ones on the first page were helpful but no where as detailed as you. For example. No one talked about the extra pads and where and why you put them in certain positions. Nothing about the stickers in the struts. I use the scholl brand heel lifter for my normal trainers. They are about as even as you’d hope for.

Thank you for the info. I didn't know what the extra cushions were for or how to use the air bladder. My boot was shipped to me.

Is this the best brand of boot? Do you use the aircast boots?

    Hey Paul,
Quick question for you. I have been watching many of your videos on c6 and c7 nerve root compression. I have an abundance of questions. Is there any way to contact you other than in the comments section of TH-cam? thanks.

I just received a walker boot today because of a posterior tibialis rupture. They did not show me how to put the boot on or off so I have to watch your video and it's a very good video. My question is I have a large calf, fact my legs look very similar to the lady you have in the video regarding the posterior tibialis rupture. The booth they gave me cannot close all the way. Do they make boots that will close around a heavy calf? If not what are some of the things I can do for comfort?
Thank you for having this resource out here I don't know what I would have done without you.

I have seen this issue before and I usually go up a size to accommodate the calf and I will bend out the side bars a bit to avoid too much pressure on the sides of the calves. Good Luck!

I just got a walking boot .. but really don’t know how to use one ... do I use it with crutches or without .. It is really painful to put any weight on my foot ..Do you have a video on how to properly walk with a boot on ... I have a boot without the air in it ... I just need a little help ... thank you ..🎄

Are you sure you didn't have a fracture? Nothing wrong with using crutches to take a little weight off of that foot.

I’m probably too late for the info, but I’ll leave it here in case anyone else has the same problem. I’m in Australia. I bought a pair of scholl heel lifts. I was using both in my trainers. I had an inflamed Achilles tendon. The lifts helped. But once the shoes came off at night, the right Achilles would blow up to the point I got an ultrasound and left tendon was 4mm, right tendon was 15mm! So we get the boot, and my lovely podiatrist said leave the heel lift in the shoe to even up things, so you don’t end up with the problems that you’ve mentioned. She also said if the shoe was still not high enough to pull the heel lift in, buy a shoe insole and put that on top of your original one, then put the heel lift back in. Works great.
