What many people around the world do not know is that this coastline is exactly the same as this video for 1500 km north of this island all the way to Anchorage Alaska, with almost NO population the entire way. It is truly one of the last almost untouched wild places on earth, accessible by a few remote roads and summer ferries and cruise ships. Fortunately a huge oil shipping port wanted by Alberta province right in the middle of it at the town of Prince Rupert has been temporarily dis-allowed by Prime Minister Trudeau, but there is danger it may be revived if he loses power in the future (I am not much of a fan of Trudeau, but I supported him fully on this issue).
Vancouver Island, and British Columbia as a whole, is one of the most beautiful places in Canada and the world. Absolutely stunning and I can't wait to go back there again! The Butchart Gardens are a must see! I'm not even a garden person but even I was in awe at the magnificence of the gardens. I have plenty of family on the island and hope to one day move their myself. Victoria is also one of the most relaxed and enjoyable cities I have been in. Love from Alberta!
Vancouver Island is better than I thought. Expedia remains the best tourism channel on TH-cam and the music along side the vocals are really soothing and second to non. The Native People's place names are not easy for many visitors to Canada, listen to a local. One thing about the Pacific Northwest Rain Forest that did not come out in this video, is that, it rains a lot ! A real lot, from October to May, and it rarely gets colder than 0 C at sea level.
What a beautiful place this is. The sights, the paths, nature, thank you Expedia for showing me this incredible place, adding Vancouver island to my bucket list.
They forgot to include that one can ski & surf in the same day! They also forgot the extensive catalogue of superb back country camping sites dotting the Island. Seen many, and even repeat visits have me awestruck. Cape Scott is unparalleled! The Island is truly spectacular.

The language of course is English (and some Native People's languages they know) so what 18 Rabbit is referring to is the VanIsle lifestyle which is quaint and modest escapism for most people. The southeast part of the island around Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo (nan-eye-mo) is populated with about a half million people along 100 km of shoreline, beyond that the people really thin out. Beware of some really, really, kooky people in and around Nanaimo, the only real blight on this otherwise wonderful place.
There are several other reasons why they like this place ... you need to look into who and what these creatures are. Life here is ridiculously expensive here ...
I miss this beautiful place so much! It has been a year coming back to India, leaving that amazing place behind. It truly adheres to the truly Beautiful British Columbia!

Van Isle has one of the lowest Covid rates in the world (last summer was 200 cases with 950,000 people). This has been mostly achieved by social distancing . I guess some people are more readily socially distanced from. P.S. Have you ever lived in Canada more than 200 miles from the US border? You may find Vancouver Island CHEAP on your total cost of living thing.

I was born and raised in Vancouver and the nature there is absolutely breathtaking, there is no place that I could call home that Vancouver BC, 🇨🇦 South Fl isn’t comparable to this beauty lots of flat marshy lands filled with gators 🐊 😩😩!! I miss Canada!

Great video, although it only covered roughly half of Vancouver Island, no mention of the Comox Valley Glacier or world-class Skiing on several mountains, Campbell River and so many more. This is pretty much just a scenic guide to South Vancouver Island. If you stay in Victoria and only travel to Sooke and Juandefuca, you really haven’t left Victoria yet.

If they're going to mention hiking 28 miles of the juan de fuca trail then it doesn't follow that strathcona gets 0 mention especially when a trip to Tofino is put on the list which is an easy 4 hour trip one way for a tourist staying in parksville lol.
Just how tourism is. Japan tourism guides consist of 3 cities, all central Japan. You'd need a proper 2-3 hour movie length video to share what Vancouver Island has to offer.

I'm from Van Isle, and bias. But, I have never been to an area with more diverse beauty than my home Island. Come visit anytime, you will be glad you did.
There’s a lot more to explore on Vancouver Island than just the places mentioned. Duncan is known for its totem poles and First Nations’ heritage Chemainus has amazing murals all over Campbell River is worth checking too before heading to the outer islands of Quadra and Cortes Don’t forget the wild Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, just south of Ucluelet where you will find incredible animals from land to underwater and the sky!
Come to the north shore of Lake Superior to Thunder Bay area. It's is just as scenic as Vancouver Island and no risk of megathrust earthquake and affordable to live or visit

Actually, I grew up in Sooke and he did pronounce it right, the oo is long, it rhymes with boot. If you visit Sooke and pronounce it as rhyming with cook locals will cringe. The name is from the first Nation's name T'Sou-ke. The other names mentioned, however, were horribly wrong.

@@marcopolo9146 Well they were not offensive enough as the "mainlanders" continued to come over. To be honest many Islanders went to the mainland but in any case the majority of new vases of Covid on the Island have been traced to "off Island" sources. Contained quickly. But sick is sick. The majority still did the right thing and I am happy about that.
A good way to go, if you are OK with it, is to get to Victoria City (easy from Vancouver City Airport on the mainland by commuter flight or slightly harder by transit train, bus and ferry) and rent a camper van in Victoria (so you don't have to pay a high ferry fee for it) and stay in the many well maintained and supervised campgrounds all over the island, about 20$ Canadian per night Travel in June-September, it rains a lot the rest of the year.
You missed more than half the island! There is far, far more to see once you head north past Parksville. Comox Valley, Campbell River, Port Hardy, All of Strathcona Park including Mt. Washington and so much more!
Half? More like 75%, and that is not even mentioning the fascinating "Gulf Islands, from Salt spring (ok Trial Islands) to Malcolm (Ok Triangle Island) , which are more "extreme" cultural change than Van Isle. @@marcopolo9146 Well they were not offensive enough as the "mainlanders" continued to come over. To be honest many Islanders went to the mainland but in any case the majority of new vases of Covid on the Island have been traced to "off Island" sources. Contained quickly. But sick is sick. The majority still did the right thing and I am happy about that.

A good way to go, if you are OK with it, is to get to Victoria City (easy from Vancouver City Airport on the mainland by commuter flight or slightly harder by transit train, bus and ferry) and rent a camper van in Victoria (so you don't have to pay a high ferry fee for it) and stay in the many well maintained and supervised campgrounds all over the island, about 20$ Canadian per night Travel in June-September, it rains a lot the rest of the year.

You missed more than half the island! There is far, far more to see once you head north past Parksville. Comox Valley, Campbell River, Port Hardy, All of Strathcona Park including Mt. Washington and so much more!

More like 75%, and that is not even mentioning the fascinating "Gulf Islands, from Salt spring (ok Trial Islands) to Malcolm (Ok Triangle Island) , which are more "extreme" cultural change than Van Isle.
