Welcome to The Hague! Once you 're settled in a bit, if you want to try to practice your Dutch, you can go to the Central Library on tuesdays at 13.30 for Taal in de Bieb. You can practice your Dutch with other people that are learning the language on the level that you're on (A1/A2/B1/B2) and the sessions are hosted by Dutch volunteers. Enjoy your time here and go on exploring the city and the beach!
Hi and welcome to The Netherlands! Many people have taken the step before you, and at least one fellow TH-camr named Dutch Americano I can recommend to you to go see. She has been here now for a few years and her channel is very educational. Also, AmerikaanseVrouw --> Written just like that ! Her Channel is hilarious; very funny and educational as well !
Great to get your update from the Netherlands. I can’t wait to hear where your creative energy takes you next. Keep vlogging/blogging. Is Halloween a thing over there?
@@wouterboekholt9957 Not too keen on the whole Halloween takeover. Like the Santa thing back in the day, it's another commercialized foreign (US in its modern, degraded version) "tradition" crowding our own (St Maarten / St Nicolaas).
@@Columbasta It's a commercial thing, that is why stores love it. I see some parties on the day. And some ppl walking in costumes, but highly localized and organised by expats. Here in Haarlem, Sint Maarten is celebrated full on. So the kids can go around the whole city block. And at school they make their light and get to hear the story of the Saint.
Surprised the appartement was that dirty. Usually you have to leave it clean(not spotless😅) and completely empty. Tip about clothes in this country; dress in layers, top, shirt, cardigan.or sweatshirt. Always take care for a (foldable, compact)umbrella and or rain coat Wish you good times living in the netherlands
Haha right?! I thought you had to leave your apartment clean when you move out, at the very least for the deposit (if not for the pride) 😅 I definitely love dressing in layers, so that's very useful here!!
Best thing about the Den Haag is the shopping and a cheap lunch. It's all within walking distance of each other and there is a lot of choice. So if I really want furniture or knick-knacks for the home or anything fashion, that's where I go.
The shopping area has such a lovely vibe! And like you said, I love how most things are within walking distance of each other. It's a beautiful little city 😍

O ja, jullie hebben katten, dus nog één ding als een waarschuwing van te voren. We zijn zo ongeveer 3 maanden verwijderd voordat we hier weer Oud Jaar vieren. Hoe doen wij dat; The Dutch way (maybe?): th-cam.com/video/VftInWyQtSo/w-d-xo.html
Welcome!!!! Please don't make the "mistake" like others, learn Dutch! Everbody speaks English as you already know, so why Dutch? Dan weet je écht hoe het is in ons mooie landje🎉!
Welcome to the Netherlands. That's a great adventure you're embarking on, nice. I come from Haarlem, the capital of the province of North Holland, right next to Amsterdam, which is also in our province. If you think, huh, how can Haarlem be the capital of North Holland, Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands after all. I will tell you. Haarlem and Amsterdam had an administrative battle over who would become the capital of the Netherlands. Amsterdam won that battle in 1808 and became the capital of the Netherlands. The province of Holland was split into two parts in 1840, North Holland and South Holland. The Hague where you now live was chosen as the capital of South Holland. Haarlem was chosen as the capital of the province of North Holland. Mainly because Amsterdam wasn't paying attention, after all they were already the capital of the Netherlands. Sweet revenge for us Haarlemmers. Since 1840 we have been number one in the province and Amsterdam can never take that away from us, lol. I have subscribed and will follow your adventure. Good luck and have a nice day.
Thank you for subscribing! 😊 It's so interesting to learn more about The Netherlands' history (and funny that I lived in New York City not too long ago, where there's another famous Harlem, and now I'm living close to the original Haarlem!)

I’m not sure yet! There are some fun Halloween decorations out at stores, but I’m not sure if I can expect to see people in costumes on the day yet 😛
Only for the expat community. The Dutch in some regions do celebrate Sint Maarten.
