Alan was one of the tutors at Stow College when I was there around 20 years ago, such a good guy. I was quite bit older than most of the kids on the course and was somewhat star struck, as I was a big fan of the Associates (and told him as much, which he appreciated in a humble and down to earth way). I loved hearing his stories about his experiences in the music industry. Very sorry to learn of his passing.
I’m grateful , as an archive and legacy, these clips of your interview with Alan, show how the mystique of creating hits can be underpinned by polar opposites: innovative creativity and sheer urgency. Decades on, he’s articulate and pithy about his achievements, a sad loss.
He was a great guy and it's nice these videos show his character and songwriting skills. Glad to have worked with him and learned so much. RIP x

The other half of one of the best 80s bands, RIP Alan.
