  • Huber Breese presents Kirk Hammett's "Greeny". Check huberbreese.com for detailed description and availability. Call Robby, Jeff or Paul Kramer for this Gibson Les Paul "Greeny" Standard for best price with mention of this video.
    A 1959 Les Paul Standard is one of the most coveted and valuable guitars ever, but one particular example, “Greeny,” is famous for both its incredible story and its iconic sound. Originally owned by Peter Green, Greeny was used throughout his time with Fleetwood Mac and started as a bright cherry red sunburst, but after countless shows, it faded to a pale-yellow color. Greeny’s distinctive sound is partially from the out-of-phase middle switch position due to the neck pickup’s reversed magnetic polarity. In the 1970s, Peter sold Greeny to Gary Moore, who used it for three decades with Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist, even recording an album titled “Blues for Greeny.” After years together, Greeny was sold and temporarily retired, left waiting for a chance to return to the stage.
    Now owned by Kirk Hammett, Greeny has officially passed through the hands of three legendary guitarists. Now you can add your own chapter to the legend of Greeny.

    I saw a Gary Moore concert in Munich in the 90s, and he played "still got the blues" with a Strat!

    Looks pretty similar to my recent 50s faded honey burst, just change 2 of the knobs and put covers on the pickups

      that's all it is. They just grabbed some leftover stock from another guitar line and sold it as a "greeny" but it doesn't even have a "greeny" sticker lmao.

    It' amazing just how many people that make a video on this guitar really don't know much about it! And it should be known and called the Greeny Moore guitar because it's mostly been played by the great Gary Moore and that's why you have different knobs on it. It's still over priced!

      I agree with you totally. I checked a survey on Pedal Pawn I believe, asking who you prefer playing
      "Greeny"? Peter Green? Gary Moore? or Kirk Hammett. Moore was ahead and Kirk was ahead of
      Peter Green himself lol. It's crazy that Gibson made a $50k copy in limited supply, then $20k
      in the custom shop and now over 3k for the USA one lol. I guess to have dinner with Kirk
      Hammett is worth the extra $30k lol. Not that I would pay even 20k for one or over $3k for the
      USA one. I voted for Peter Green, without him you don't have Greeny and what he made it. As much
      as I love Moore, Peter made it Iconic, to begin with. I praise Gary because he was
      a damn good guitarist who was a massive fan of Peter and a friend. The good thing about the guitar
      is that it's taken care of instead of it in a showcase with an owner who can't even play. I'm not a
      fan of Kirk but at least he's playing it and respects who Peter and Gary were.

      Indeed. I know the history of the guitar and all the related stories. I appreciate the ownership ‘chain’ but for me, this will always be a copy of Gary Moore’s guitar. Without Gary, this guitar would have been forgotten decades ago.

    Wonder if it's alnico V magnet for the pickups

    • @chucklee347
      @chucklee347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was told it is. And the magnets were demagnetized to give it a pinch of slag like old pickups that have been played a lot would have. I have no way of verifying that. But I do trust my source.

    Not normally a relic person (it’s rather fake, inauthentic) but confess I’d like this with ‘dulled’ pickup covers and tailpiece/bridge

    For the love of God simply installing the neck pickup in reverse does not put it out of Phase in the middle. It's does nothing to the tone it's out of Phase because the magnet in the neck pickup is flipped around so the poles are reversed. Turning the pickup around backwards is just to complete the aesthetic . If you don't know how the out of Phase tone works just say you don't know or don't talk about it . I here so many people say this about the greeny neck pickup. How can present an item you are Seliing and know Nothing about it . Reverse Mounting a pickup does nothing to the magnetic polarity. So cringe.

    • @nunomc2815
      @nunomc2815 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just try to rotate 180° the coils' set without the pickup cover and support plate, and chech where the poles get located. Now reinstall the pickup cover and see where the adjusting screws are located. Do you understand now ?

    it's just a standard faded with an extra 500 usd price tag and it doesn't have anything that says "Greeny", not even a sticker behind the headstock, or a logo on the case, wtf is this crap? Why is Gibson doing this and why is everyone buying into their crap?

    Vintage brand, via JHS, guitar does an equally good Greeny/Moore guitar for far less a price than Gibson. The Vintage make guitars are superbly constructed with great hardware and action...I own several models in my collection. In my opinion there's snobbery in the guitar world where people believe Gibson and Fender are the only brands to have. Rubbish, plenty of lesser known luthiers equal to or better than them for lesser prices. Gibson, Fender etc are far too pricey for their worth.
