    Super sick!! I want this for my music studio. I may have to take down some acoustic panels though. I think $250 is right around what it should cost. I would need at least two Hue LED strips and a hub so that should be around $200. This is spot on. Great video man!

    Brian, at 4:03 time, you show the triangular nano with a round object on the wall that releases music notes, what is that and where can I purchase one? I love this Nanoleaf Canvas square model. Planning on buying my set as soon as it comes out. Thanks for the review.

    Ive been researching lighting like this since Philips released OLED light panels some time back. It's pricey but some people spend small fortunes for fixtures to just install incandescent bulbs... That's the problem with marketing new products. They can't be on par with traditional goods or services. They have to be leagues better and fix all the small inconveniences from the older technology.
    These lights have plenty of features so they will hopefully lead to good enough sales to further develop the manufacturing and bring down the costs a bit.
    From electric cars to LED lighting. People dislike change so new ways to do things have to be overwhelmingly better. This includes cost unfortunately, which is often times the downfall of new innovations trying to take hold in the market. It's rare to reach enough capital to be able to market the benefits of a product or service over traditional methods. Usually investments are spent on R&D, manufacturing and distribution.
    Keep up the good work! CNET has gone down hill since you left, their content is drier than ever. You bring tons of positive energy and your best thoughts about tech to your videos. I think of really enjoy your truthful opinions.

    They look really great!! How do they do with Movies? I have some Phillips hue setup but am still so underwhelmed with color connection to movies. I want something that works..... how do we get the studios just to build in lighting tracks to the movie?!?!?

    • @briantong
      @briantong  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't sync with movies in any way, its just all sound, it actually might be more distracting if you had it set behind a movie because the colors are random, but great for music!

    Just got mine today and only tested 5 on a Table - man these are beautiful and look so much better than the Triangles. Cannot wait to put them on my Wall. I got a Starter Kit plus 2 expansion packs - a total of 17 Tiles. Found a nice Offer: -20% :-). Crazy fun fact: If I would buy 500 Tiles it would cost me 12thousand4hundert Swiss Francs. Even with the Offer of -20%, it would still be like almost 10thousand. Absolutely insane, but I would love to see a setup like that for real somewhere. In a Club, on the ceiling over the dance floor for example. WhoopWhoop.

    These look really cool. But, the difficulty attaching then to the wall, and the huge difficulty removing them if you want to change the design are deal breakers for me. Prediction...the next generation will have a much smarter way of attaching the tiles to the wall. And it will be easy to remove the tiles and change the pattern. Thanks for the video!

    • @briantong
      @briantong  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll basically have to tear them off and your wall will probably be damaged and need a repaint or resurfacing.

      @@shawnabrams1200 You can, but its really strong and I had to re adjust one tile and it tore off a tiny section of my wall. They recommend you put three pieces on each square. Just be very OCD, and know exactly what and how you want to place it

      You might have better luck with the velcro style command strips. At least then you can remove the panels to get at the tabs that lets you peel it off the wall. Or plan your design, and mount it to thin acrylic sheets. You can drill holes in those sheets for nail heads and hang them with very little extra wall clearance. Requires more planning and measuring, but less damage I'd think.

    I bought a few of the triangles. Yes, they are beautiful, but their support team is awful, their quality control is awful, their app is pretty garbage. And while it does support Alexa, Google, ifttt, and homekit, that's all they support. You either need an iPhone for homekit, or they just don't work with your other smart devices at all. Just stick with hue or lifx or something that actually has support.

      I've received great support from the folks at Nanoleaf. I have 22 light panels in my setup and when one panel died they quickly sent out a new panel at no cost to me. I have an android phone and the app works fine on it. My Google Home turns it on and off, dims it or makes it brighter and changes scenes too. My Echo 2nd Gen can do the same.

    I paid too much for this Nanoleaf Canvas system for it to continually break down on me. Out of nowhere a couple of weeks ago, the system just stopped working for no apparent reason.
    I tried everything that I could. I tried updates, uninstall and reinstall, hard resets and soft resets, I restarted my router, I've done everything I could think of but the buttons keep cycling through and the power button will blink blue 5 times then goes back to cycling through the buttons blinking. This will go on for hours and nothing will happen. Eventually, it shuts its self off.
    Really disappointed in this product. It is so cool when it works, but keeping it working is the issue. Very unreliable.
    Would not buy any further NanoLeaf products until they become more helpful and more reliable and can be paired with 5G networks.
