I've always told my kids that home is where you have a memory at every corner. We have 34 years of memories here in Slidell. Thanks you for showing so many places where we have memories. We moved here from New Orleans in 1986 when my kid were toddlers. Old Town Slidell has many memories of driving to dancing school with my daughter on a Saturday morning. Both of my kids went to Slidell Jr High. My husband was the band teacher at STJH. I volunteered many times at the Boys & Girls Club in Old Town. Lots of memories in Old Town. You even pass our street when you drive on Robert Road towards the over pass near John Slidell Park. Our home. Wouldn't live anywhere else. Thank you for this video. Proud to call it home -- Slidell.
I'm in the UK and to me this is REAL America. Beautiful place and I'm sure full of great people with good, old fashioned values and manners. Absolutely my kind of place. I would love to live here ❤️
Kids don't spend enough time on the lawn playing baseball these days. I used to spend hours in an empty lot with the other kids in the neighborhood playing a variation of baseball with our own set of made-up rules. Home run if you got the ball (tennis ball) into the guy's satellite dish across the street!
You may not have known this but an awesome fun fact is that the Olde Town Soda Shop has been used for several major movies. The most recent being with the one and only Halle Barry for the movie Kidnapped, and Dead Man Walking with Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. Slidell has also been in a handful of other movies as well.
My daughter’s boyfriend and his family own a company near there and live in Slidell…they do stunt production for many movies and tv show like The Walking Dead and action movies. Pretty cool business
Moved to Slidell from Mandeville 7 years ago..great decision! The Soda Shop in old towne drew a blue squiggly line on the side of their building to show how high the flood waters got for Katrina. Its shocking to see
Living in Gulfport, I go to Slidell all of the time. I have found some great little restaurants there. It's a lot easier to travel around than the Mandeville/Covington part of the Northshore. I'm impressed with how much growth they have been experiencing lately! Fremeaux is really hot right now. A new building going up every month.
I'm enjoying "visiting"the various towns/cities you visit. For the benefit of fellow 504 subscribers, I live in Australia where we drive on the "wrong" side of the road.
It’s perfectly fine if you can’t do this, but is it possible to do another Baton Rouge drive, one day? Like maybe Bluebonnet Blvd or a main road? Just curious. I love this channel!
RangeRover Roads I’ve done all of several of the main streets. We were just talking recently about doing more stuff in Baton Rouge. I’ll see what can be done.
In 1994/1995, the pizza restaurant I worked for opened a Slidell location and I took a shift manager position at the new place. We had a really hard time hiring drivers at first, so I spent about 2 months delivering pizza around Slidell. Got thrown to the wolves. After two months, I could pinpoint any address on the area map in under a second. We had a huge delivery area that went from Indian Village to North Shore Square, and from the lake to the state line. This was probably the first time i had driven in Slidell off of the main roads in almost 25 years.
@shaolin1200 yeah but like everyody excludes you here if ur just a little different tbh, kinda dissapointing but the long beach people accepted me fr, just cause i aint a star child like everyone else here.
@shaolin1200 oh no the funny thing is i've lived in southeast louisiana my whole life, and i met people from the los angeles area and in the short time they cared more about me
I am not from Slidell. However, during the mid-90s, I worked for a pizza restaurant in the New Orleans area that opened up a location on Robert Road. I worked up there for about a year. We had a hard time hiring drivers when we opened, and I spent most of that year delivering pizza full time. We covered an area from the lake to the state line and from Indian Village to Thompson Road. So I had a crash course in navigating the neighborhoods of Slidell. Having spent a large part of my younger years as a "professional driver" with no accidents or tickets, I developed good driving habits.
@@504RoadTrips I moved to Slidell in June of last year. I came here from Quantico VA. I am originally from Johnstown PA. I am actually going to tje train depot and the Movie sets venue on Monday, to ask permission to do bomb detection training at those locations, with my K9.

Everyone there is so humble and it really doesn't seem like any harm will be font there but
I’m from Slidell they only showing the good sides that’s all they do all the murders and robberies don’t get talked about everybody that don’t live there think it’s all good alright drive where I’m from in Lincoln Park LP or Walnut they don’t wanna do that😂😂😂😆💯💪🏾
Slidell is a horrible place and I wouldn’t recommend anyone moving here. We just sold our house and wouldn’t have taken a house in the “nicest” area in that city. It will be New Orleans east in a few years and that’s definitely not a good thing.
Dee Will I don’t get it? Is that supposed to be some new ghetto language that is spoken in Slidell? I am not trying to be a prick but I absolutely fucking hate Slidell.
Midnight Mystery they call it the dirty Dell cause it’s filthy and people that live there don’t take care of it. It used to be a really nice place but poor leadership has destroyed it.

I lived in Slidell for 8 years and loved it.
Your husband probably taught me. I was 1st chair saxophone! 1994-1995. I doubt he'd remember me. His class was the only class I didn't act out in.
Beautiful place with friendly people 💕

Nah, Slidell is a dump that’s full of a bunch of drug addict losers. Foods good though.

I’ve been living in Slidell since around 1996. It’s a great small city that is growing north of New Orleans.
These huge lawns you could play baseball on!!!Wonderful porches!

I didn’t know about the water line. Was it visible in the video when I passed by there?
From mandeville to slidell!? Wow you don’t hear that happen often at all. We just moved from Slidell to Covington and it’s apples and oranges.
Oh yesss tht soda shop👌🏽
@@rickoconnell9591 Covington is so hilly compared to Slidell. Looks like Hattiesburg, MS compared to Slidell which looks kinds like Chalmette.
Was through Sliddel a few times while I was there nice town
Yes. It’s changed quite a bit since I frequented the area.
Come on we are a city not a town 🤬

So I just looked it up. I haven't been there, but I have gone to a Thai place close to there a few times!
