  • In this special episode of Bondi Vet, we sent Dr Alex Hynes to Adelaide to help efforts to rescue and care for animals impacted by the Australian bushfires.
Dr Alex visited a temporary emergency hospital set up to look after more than 100 koalas that are either orphaned, displaced or injured from one of the worst impacted areas, Cudlee Creek, where at least 25,000 koalas are thought to have perished in bushfires.

It is beyond heartbreaking to see it, especially the affects on the beautiful wildlife. We've shed tears, seeing it all. R. McBride so true I find Australia are very proud of their wildlife, especially the iconic koala bear 🐻 very heart breaking yet the rescues of all walks of life restore humanity. I think one of the most touching rescue was the lady who rescued the koala and wrapped him in her blouse and sadly he didn’t make it but that lady did everything she could for him just beautiful how much love they show their wildlife. I am in Canada Ontario I was just reading that marineland a park with rides animals whales etc their bears were to be on birth control and one of the bears had 4 cubs the ceo of marine land told staff leave the cubs and let nature take its course which would be the male bears eating the new cubs and one staff member was against that and she was able to rescue 3 of the cubs from the enclosure sadly the 4th was killed before she could get them all to safety so Canada is no better. I think both Canada and the USA and many other countries could learn from the down under.

Great video , I’m sure if these Koloa’s could say thank you they would. In this video the vet mentioned how not eating and stress impacted the Koloa’s health. I wish many people will reflect on their own life acknowledge if stress is causing them to be unwell .

Give them lots of love and kind words along with the physical care you are giving them. They have suffered emotional trauma as well as physical and probably need lots of assurance. Thank you for helping them.

Brilliant stuff. I've been searching for a video explaining the rescue and release process after the fires, and you've explained it beautifully, while helping out at the same time. Good on ya! Good luck to Bondi.

I want to thank everyone that's helping animals in general, but especially the animals from the Australian bushfires. It's heartbreaking that so many animals lost their lives. I'll be praying for everyone and the animals that were caught in destruction of the fires
