Normally no. While having a degree in finance or accounting is a plus, my mom is a bookkeeper and started with zero skills or knowledge of it and has now been doing it for over 30 years

This helped me understand more the functions of a bookkeeper, but also more aware of the financial flows of money in a business. Great stuff!
