also. do your own bookkeeping first. you are your best customer. make up an imaginary biz and practice first. then choose who who can serve efficiently. think about that chart of accounts...cause thats what your working with😇
I, myself, have started my own Bookkeeping and Accounting business through a class I was taking. I hope what I have just made mention would be of an encouragement to someone who has no bookkeeping experience, but desires to start a bookkeeping of his or her own.
May I know what class are you taking, I would also like to run this kind of business
I'm not taking any classes at this time. However, I would suggest you would attend a college, or a business school such as I have done. Maybe this will be a help to you if you desire to start a bookkeeping and accounting business of your own.

I have a full-time job earning $55k annually (and I’m not ready to quit my job just yet) but I would love to do bookkeeping part-time on the side and keep my full-time job. I have no experience or knowledge in this field but the duties it’s perfect for me someone who is an introvert.

This was great thank you both for the much needed info! I’m a single grandmother helping to raise my 2 grandsons whom are both ever busy! I’ve worked in the hospitality industry most of my life and serial entrepreneur doing many different things! Right now I wrk a job that pays barely over minimum wage and not enough to myself and them as well so I’m looking to learn a new skill set where I can increase my income and have the time freedom that I need! I’m closer to retirement than staying in the workforce but I’m not prepared to do so but I’m willing to put the time and energy into something that can grow as big as I can handle with the efficiency that’s needed to do so again thank you so much for the enlightenment🥰

There was a time where accountants and bookkeepers spent a lot of time and money just recording data on yellow legal pads using pencils. With the advent of computers and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), data entry and record keeping have become cheap!! It's unimaginable to do any type of bookkeeping W/O software like Excel.

Becoming a Bookkeeper seems like a good route for me to eventually land my dream job of becoming a Data Analyst. This role almost sounds like being a Data Analyst just with a different role name.

I want to start a bookkeeping business while educating myself further in accounting. I have an associate in accounting with bookkeeping experience and eventually would like to get a bachelors in accounting. No masters. I'm so curious about what he's saying. Thank you for this video!
Thats what I did. I started with my associates degree in accounting. I found my first few clients on what was then called oDesk and is now Upwork. I finished my BS while doing freelance bookkeeping, and then created my actual business after getting my bachelor's. But technically, I had a bookkeeping business the whole time.

I know a lady who didn’t have any experience and started her own business. She has 25 clients including me and charges us all between $200-$400 a month.

I have no experience but my starting rate is $300. My first client is a small HOA consisting of 50 units.
@@AerielFerguson hello we give her access to our bookkeeping system. I use Markate and then I email her my credit card statements and bank statements and she inputs everything for me. If she has questions she will call me. We text or talk on phone if we need to communicate.

So you can be a bookkeeper without having to deal with taxes?
@@Spurhopeyes depending on the company you are working for. Some companies may ask you to do payroll taxes, and process use sales tax as well.

Being a business owner providing bookkeeping services is different than applying for a job to work as a bookkeeper. However, do clients want to see proof of your experience? Will certification suffice in place of having 0 experience?

Hi, im 58 years old when I was 18 I graduated as accounting auxiliary in Mexico. 1983.
Came to USA to learn English work since as a office assistant.
Working now for the last 29 years at this company UNIONBAY doing all in accounting office.
I will like to do bookkeeping side job how I learn the program where do I go to learn that?
I feel that I have the basic but don’t have any certifications.
How I can contact the teacher your are interviewing.
Google “free quickbooks certification.” Intuit has a FREE program. That’s what I’m doing now. The program can take about 9-12 weeks to complete it if you’re studying about 5-8 hours a week. I’m currently working both full time and part time and studying for that certification.
My question is with the advent of open A.I is it worth getting into this? Wouldn't most small business end up using AI to do the book keeping for them?
No, the biggest thing is trust. For me personally peace of mind is everything, I trust a person more than I do AI and when it comes to your money, I don’t think most people will leave it up to AI.
if folks dont understand accounting, taxes and finance... they would not know what to ask AI to use it effectively. almost like real people... if you dont know what biz your in... or where u want to go... its hard for a professional to help you
Also giving sensitive information to AI is crazy IMO

Software like quickbooks will automate much of the traditional bookkeeping for simpel transactions, there are software that already does this in a largely automated workflows and AI is already implemented on different tasks in some of the more cutting edge accounting software its starting to be integrated reports . just teach your own client to their own booking keeping and just do the controlling for SME clients, saves time and you can sell additional services that improve the clients business.
As a bookkeeper, how can one get clients?

Sorry, but this is false information, let alone the title. You want a job with no experience? Then best you apply for a fast food restaurant. You don’t need all the requirements to apply for a job like Bookkeeping, but you need the sufficient knowledge. What I recommend for everyone is imagine you are working in a company and come up with random numbers and tinker around with it until you become familiar with the concept. This is 2023, not 1980. You can find YT videos and online course for these sorts.
I think they mean no experience of doing the job, not no experience of doing bookkeeping. You obviously have to learn how to do it.
