    Wow! thanks so much! I didn't know this was possible and have always replaced a broken zip with an entirely new one. Please could you post a link to supplies of these parts. I've learned so much watching your videos, you've made me better and faster at repairs and making new garments. You're a star. @@DowntownTailoring PacCana is great! I get all of my supplies from them. Well mostly. Sometimes I need an oddly coloured zipper that they don't carry, so in that case I have to charge my customer a little extra (if they aren't okay with the colours I usually have) and order from a site like Zipperstop in the USA.

    Thanks for a great video with clear explanations how to fix a zipper. My zipper pull came off with 1 of the teeth when it got wedged in a seat. I couldn't figure out how to get the pull back on. Your video showed me and I've ordered a top stopper. It works fine even missing 1 tooth. I think had it lost more than 1 I'd have needed to replace the zipper but its fine and my coat will last many more years. Thank you so much for your video!

    Do you save your used sliders? I have a container full of used ones that I get into as a last resort if the sliders I have will not fit the zipper. Many times I can find a slider that may work although it takes me longer to work through various ones. Usually, I save them when it is a zipper with a missing tooth or other damage. I didn't realize when I started doing alterations I needed to separate the sliders according to types and sizes so it can take me longer to hunt through my stash. I have to assume the sliders are still good to use and will not fail shortly thereafter. If I have to resort to a used slider to fix the customer's zipper I then let the customer know it was used and I can't guarantee it will last a long time. I charge them half the cost and tell them there is no guarantee for used sliders. If it is brand new then of course I will guarantee it will work for a reasonable length of time or I will replace it for free. I also made a note in my receipts that I replaced it with a used slider and no guarantee was granted. I have found that for most zippers I can repair the sliders.

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I agree with you. In my case, I save only the sliders that aren’t very common, like the metal sliders size 8 that usually come in very different letters like A, H, etc. Or bottom sliders that usually are hard to find. For the rest of the zipper, I use new sliders only as I’ve noticed some resistance from the customer’s part to accept the used ones. Cheers 😊

    I am having trouble removing a stopper on the top my quess jacket’s zipper. I am not sure what to do. I cannot open the jacket because the slider will not go all the way down because of misaligned teeth.

      Yes. That's common. Remove the stopper in both sides and zip it up all the way until the slider comes out. I hope this helps 🙂

    How much do you charge for a zipper like this ?

      Hi. Changing the slider is so fast. From the business standpoint, the only problem is that you need to have a good inventory in order to be able to do this job. We charge around 15 for it. Cheers 😊
