Central govt jobs, banking etc has only Hindi and english driving those people to.not learn english and poor people in other states having to learn english? The thing is very simple bro, people in south can survive with their regional language and English, if they had to go to any place in north India, then they will learn, they have to learn, same way if you come to south, it’s not mandatory to learn South Indian la nguage, but trying to learn help you only, but your getting offended when some South Indian says learn our local language. Same thing you are saying to learn your local language!! It’s what imposition is, keep it simple whenever there is a necessity they ll learn that language, don’t make it mandatory is what we say. If ppl come with lame excuses like hindi is majority or how uneducated ppl will speak English...then how ppl in tamilnadu who are uneducated will speak hindi?...atleast even uneducated tamil person will try to speak in English. If you see in workplace, most north indians understadn and speak Hindi. And if you learn Hindi because of your interest or as an additional language, it is very helpful for you.

I'll Only say one thing. 99% of people living in Bangalore who have migrated here and living here for 5 years or more, don't even know even the basic phrases of Kannada, and they feel entitled to not learn Kannada and survive here and live here by knowing Hindi, and so, they expect localities to learn, know and speak Hindi. That's the whole problem of it.
I personally have no issues with Hindi per se.. but, it's not just regional chauvinism that's the reason for these conflicts recently. There are deeper issues of migrants taking the welcoming localities for granted and not even trying to assimilate into the society by putting basic efforts into learning local language, if they are settling in that place for long term.
Especially because, today I hear more Hindi than Kannada in Bangalore and that's only possible if localities are welcoming and accomodating enough to learn and speak in Hindi to accomodate migrant population. But the reverse that is migrant population who have been staying here for the long term are not even trying to assimilate or at least try to learn basics of local language, and that's the root of the problem... And because of it even the temporary settlers are facing issues because of the locals with extreme views.
    - My opinion is that no one should force anyone to speak in either hindi or Kannada. It has to be voluntary. Bangalorians in fact have learnt Hindi and have always spoke hindi and are open to speak in hindi, and were welcoming till few years back. But, the migrant people have taken advantage of it and many don't even put efforts in learning basics of it or even are open to learn Kannada. It shows how the migrant people who are even settling in Bangalore are entitled and are reluctant to learn Kannada as a gesture of appreciation and mutual respect, as well as an additional skill that'll help them Navigate situations with ease, by knowing the local language.
@15:24 When the auto wala in Bangalore told why speak Hindi, this is Karnataka, speak in Kannada, the person can always say, "I'm here temporarily and it's difficult or impractical to learn"... Instead they became defensive and started saying "why should I learn kannada, you are India and you should learn Hindi". Here, Auto wala forcing the passengers to speak in Kannada is also wrong, and the passengers are also wrong, acting like entitled brats, I'll not learn kannada at all, you only have to speak in hindi.
Irrespective of the political games, that politicians play...
Mutual respect is the only solution to all of this.
    - I myself have experienced genuine hindi acceptance organically in Bangalore multiple times, when the Auto driver became happy, acknowledged when I tried to speak in broken kannada with them, and he only switched to hindi to make me comfortable. This is the beauty of MUTUAL RESPECT.
@30:52 individually a family came and settled in Bangalore, and they speak a different language in their home, which is fine. But them expecting everyone they encounter outside their home, to speak in hindi with them is also wrong. They have to at least put efforts into learning basics of the local language as a sign of appreciation for local culture, since they are settling there, that shows localities that the mutual respect they are asking for, and localities will also reciprocate with them by speaking in Hindi. That's what is needed. It can't be a one way street. And this is not happening...
Of course, localities shouldn't expect the temporary migrants to learn Kannada, BUT THE FACT THAT even the long term settlers are also not open to learn local language and the localities have to adjust and speak in hindi to accomodate the migrants, while migrants being insensitive to local culture and are not even putting any efforts from their side to assimilate with localities... And this issue has come to such a point that some localities are saying enough is enough, everyone should speak in Kannada, which is the other end of toxicity.
MUTUAL RESPECT AND NOTHING ELSE.... Can actually help in Hindi acceptance, and the effort has to be put by long term migrant population to show the respect and acknowledgement to localities and local culture, so that localities won't feel threatened or taken for granted for being welcoming to migrants (which has been the case in past 2 decades)...
@31:20 Here the assumption of pro-hindi side, that long term settlers are learning the local language is totally false, as that's very very rare... And this is the ground level reality that has caused unrest in locals which the selfish politicians are taking advantage of... By putting fuel in fire.
@35:00 this is the accomodating nature of the localities... To accomodate migrants from TN, AP, Kerala and all other parts of the country by knowing those languages to facilitate communication...
@ 35:08 is exactly my point!! The willingness...
Not even able to learn or speak, or difficulty, logistics, etc... but basic willingness and openness... For long term migrants. That's all there is to it.
@35:19 people in south may or may not be more willing to learn languages to accomodate others... But majority of the people from North definitely don't. This is not a generalization.
It's an observation from a temporary migrant like me who has learnt basic kannada, staying in Bangalore for 6 years and whose friends, acquaintances, etc are all from North India and almost none of them know even one single word in Kannada even though they're living in Bangalore for more than 5 years. And all these people they don't even see the need or even have a willingness to learn local language, just because they are comfortable here and getting by using Hindi ... ONLY BECAUSE the localites are accomodating and speak in Hindi to facilitate better communication. But it's only one way Street that's the problem here .. at grass root level.
Of course another main hurdle is also that there are no good language learning apps that teach Indian languages even in Apps like Duolingo only Hindi so there.. which is very unfortunate. Such apps are missing out on a huge market.

There is already a link language that is english. We can link the whole world. Not just indian languages. Some people from hindi belt are simply entitled they just expect all to serve them and to speek hindi. There are many cases of students that commit suicide due to language bullying who go to the north to study. Many don't feel safe from south to go to north to study they would rather try to find college in the south or go abroad. When they come here and speek hindi we try to understand or communicate in some way but in north they won't even stop and try to listen most of them just walk away even if they understand what u say in broken hindi or english I have personally experienced this. Why should I spend my time learning a language that is not of any use to me day to day in my life . Its so double standard to expect me to spend hours to this cause I will happily do so if in hindi states they have compulsory learning of one of the other indian language other than hindi compulsory too. This way both are spending time in learning a language that they will never use.
