Hey Guys been meaning do do a review on this one for a while!! I was impressed with this tool I think it's a better implementation than the SOG Power Access I reviewed a few weeks ago. I picked this up for $99.99 @ Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072MYCMXY/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=gearsntools-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B072MYCMXY&linkId=93a3883484ea8dfea5e4d34a4816fa27
i have had this in my car for about 2 years now and used it for camping. It has been a headache saver. I have pulled so many nails out of my tire using using the plier part. Overall, I am very satisfied.
@ParsianYT is it stamped on the blade or on the pliers or anywhere Made in USA because most Gerbers are china made now and chinas metals are shit and not worth a penny
Really appreciate this video, thank you kindly! Amazon didn't do the greatest job highlighting the key selling points, but you nailed it. I'm definitely getting this for my EDC next paycheck!
Just purchased this tool for $80 came with a nylon horizontal carry case but no extra bits, no big deal I'll just add the bits I use most often from my Dewalt set. So far it's a great tool solid well built and has the most used tools, only thing I'd add would be a saw blade, scissors I can do without. I'm very happy with the purchase and think it's more practical and economical than the higher priced Surge.
Interesting, mine came with bits, they might have a few different "packages" but considering the driver is one of the main selling points of this tool seems like they should all have bits. at least they are standard and easy to find.
Greeting for Australia! Love the channel and the review mate. I bought the gerber center drive in black and love it. Very handy and easy to use although I really wished it had a saw and then it would have been better and complete.
Yeah that’s one of the things I use a lot that’s not on this tool, but it’s still a pretty good package. If you’re ok with a shorter driver you might checkout the leatherman OHT
I have onwer one for a long while now and love it. Is it perfect no, but a multi tool is always secondary to a dedicated tool designed for the task. It is not a survival tool, hence the lack of a saw..I have several multi tool for different environments. Hiking i carry a Signal, and a solid fix blade. but the Centerdrive is my daily carry. It works well at home, on the job or in a pinch when the right tool is not easily accessible. If you are crutting heavy wire get a pair of wire cutters.
Great review! I just bought one of these and it has substantial side play in the pliers and screwdriver when opened. Is this normal or do you think I should exchange them for a new pair? For how much the tool cost I honestly expected something sturdier.
On mine the pliers do have a little side play, I think that’s normal the Leatherman OHT and Gerber MP600 which are similar tools also have some play in the pliers. The screwdriver on mine is super tight, can you tighten yours down? Mine locks out tight and has almost no play in any direction
I ground the serrated blade to a longer awl. I also rounded the top of the blade and the screw driver edge because both were sharp when gripping. I would have really liked if the serrated blade would have been a changeable saw.
If only the build quality wasnt so terrible. There is so much play in the pliers and even the fold out tools. If i pay 100 bucks for a multitool i expect it to be well made. Love the design, returned it after a day because its so badly made.
Was the blade or anything stamped with Made in USA because most gerbers are made in china now and every since they switched to being made there the quality went to shit and that is sad. The metal in china is poor and ain’t worth a penny
you should be able to get them directly from Gerber website. haven't had any issue with the originals. keep in mind you can rotate them toe pose a new cutting face to save some money.
best diy multitool made. 90 degree usable bit drive for tightening or loosening, socket bit drive compatable and able to carry socket drives in sheath bit holder as well as the good functionalityo f the other tools. enough said.
not a fan of how the serrated blade is folds out blade side-inwards. makes cutting so awkward. and the plastic locking mechanism is so clumsy compared to the conventional metal locking spring. definitely not the most thought-out tool. the outside driver is nice though.
The big and shameful problem with this are the carbide wire cutters. Almost useless except for electrical cables. They broke ever and cost a lot. (30 euro the ONLY seller in Europe, here nothing sell the replacement!!). For the rest, a great tool, the strongest multitool I have (have 7 leatherman and 3 victorinox swisstool but centerdrive is the strongest).
Bought one of these today. Used the pliers for a project for my wife. After a single use, the tips no longer close fully and the pliers are no longer spring-loaded. These things are overpriced garbage, and I will be returning them in the morning. Very disappointed with Gerber right now.

Thanks for watching! glad I could help, sometimes it's easy to show stuff in a video.

I agree it’s a solid tool, I really like the signal too the carabiner makes it easy to clip to your pack.
Thanks for watching!

Alright cool. Thanks for the reply! I may try and make some sort of a spacer to take up the slop and make it feel more solid.

where can i buy the plier cutting replacements

Is there a trick to flick the pliers out?
not really, you do need to hold them kind of loosely in your hand so you don't add friction force inside the tool so the head can move freely.
Yes, he just doesn't know how to.
If this had a saw I could finish my search. Oh well
Multi tools miss that needlenose least used pliers in tool box, bar electrical work. Regular pliers - yes, adjustable wrench - way better.

Yeah I thought the plastic locking mechanism was an odd choice too
Take the pin out and turn it around
great review, wish the music faded out so I could concentrate on what you were saying.
Thanks for the input! most of my newer reviews fade the music out, this is kind of a learn as you go kind of project :).
No pocket clip no thank you
